Gov. Abiodun sends a list of 18 commissioner nominees to Ogun Assembly

Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun on Thursday sent a list of 18 commissioner nominees to the state House of Assembly for confirmation.
The Speaker, Mr. Olakunle Oluomo, read Abiodun’s letter containing the list during plenary in Abeokuta.
Oluomo said that the governor had written to seek the confirmation of the nominees.

Michael Cohen wants prison sentence reduced for cooperation in Trump probes

Michael Cohen is pleading with a Manhattan federal court judge to reduce his three-year sentence to just a year and a day, citing his ongoing cooperation with probes into President Trump and even quoting Shakespeare.
In a Wednesday court filing, Cohen asks for the more lenient sentence because he’s spent “approximately 170 hours providing testimony to some eight different governmental agencies, in furtherance of their duties and obligations.”
In the sworn statement, Trump’s former personal lawyer also states he’s spent around 10 hours with Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance to help with his probe of Trump’s financial dealings.

Ondo State: 400,000 residents to benefit from health scheme

The Ondo State Contributory Health Commission (ODCHC), on Thursday, said no fewer than 400,000 residents of the state would be registered in the first phase of its contributory health scheme.
The commission’s General Manager, Dr Abiodun Oyeneyin, who made this disclosure at a press conference in Akure, said the commission would make sure that 10 per cent of 4.6 million of the residents had health insurance coverage.
Oyeneyin said that the commission had called on organised labour unions in the state to continue discussions with civil servants to avail themselves of the scheme.

There is anxiety in Edo state as the Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu has granted permission to the All Progressives Congress Edo State to hold its mega rally to receive Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and over thirty thousand Peoples Democratic Party, PDP members into the state.
Governor Godwin Obaseki had said that he is not aware of any APC rally in the state just as the purportedly suspended state chairman Anselm Ojezua said neither the state governor nor other leaders of the party is aware of the rally and purported declaration rally urged members of the APC in the state not to have anything to do with the event.

President Trump said in a closed-door White House meeting that French President Emmanuel Macron is “a pain in the a**” and disparaged Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau following the release of a video that appeared to show the world leaders gossiping about him, a report said.
The president was speaking to more than a dozen ambassadors to the United Nations when, on two occasions, he addressed the viral recording from the NATO summit earlier this month, three sources told The Daily Beast.

An agriculturist, Mrs. Bola Adeyemo, has called on more local farmers to embrace the cultivation of Cassava with  Vitamin nutrients to address malnutrition and hunger.
Adeyemo, also a food processor, made the call on Thursday in Lagos while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Vitamin A helps form and maintains healthy teeth, skeletal and soft tissue, mucus membranes, and skin.
It is also known as retinol because it produces the pigments in the retina of the eye.

Ferrari CEO expects fully-electric car after 2025

Ferrari will issue its first fully electric model after 2025, with battery technology still requiring more development, Chief Executive Louis Camilleri said.
Ferrari has previously said a fully electric vehicle would be launched after the current industrial plan ends in 2022. Analysts have said they do not expect it before 2023.

Camilleri said Ferrari was “certainly” studying a fully electric grand tourer car (GT), but that it would stick to hybrid vehicles for the “current foreseeable future”.

Trader remanded for allegedly defiling neigbhour’s 10-yr-old daughter

A Kaduna Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, remanded a 35-year-old trader, Aliyu Abdullahi, in a correctional centre in Kaduna for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s daughter.
The Chief Magistrate, Umar Ibrahim, did not take the defendant’s plea but ordered the defendant to be remanded in correctional centre, Kaduna until Jan. 14, 2020 when the court would have obtained the advice of state Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) on the case.
The defendant, who resides at Bima Road, Tudun Nupawa, Kaduna, is being tried for defilement.

Ondo lawmakers hail Akeredolu’s infrastructural development drive

Lawmakers in Ondo State, on Thursday, commended Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for the on-going road construction across the state, saying it would ease traffic flow and boost socio-economic activities.
Mr. Adeyemi Olayemi, the Chairman, Ondo State House of Assembly Committee on Works and Infrastructure, gave the commendation during an oversight function to the ongoing road projects in the South Senatorial District of the state.
Olayemi, while expressing happiness over the ongoing construction of the first flyover in the state, that is, the Ore flyover in Odigbo Local Government area said it was long overdue.
