Sunshine Stars striker, Israel Abia, has said that his target for the 2019/20 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season is to score at least 23 goals.
The former Heartland FC striker scored all of Sunshine Stars’ four goals in a 4-2 win over Nasarawa United in a Matchday 7 encounter played in Akure on Sunday.

Ancelotti sacked despite guiding Napoli to Champions League last 16

Carlo Ancelotti has been sacked by Napoli despite taking the Serie A side to the last 16 of the Champions League on Tuesday with a 4-0 win over Genk.
“Napoli has decided to relieve Carlo Ancelotti of his role as first team coach,” the Italian side said in a statement.
Tuesday’s win over Genk, which saw Napoli finish second in Group E, one point behind Liverpool, broke a nine-match winless run that came amid dressing room unrest and friction between the club, Ancelotti and the players.

European Leagues group slams reported plan for breakaway competition

The Association of European Leagues on Tuesday slammed reported plans backed by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez to create a closed Super League for the world’s richest clubs.
“We are getting very tired of all the threats coming from a few rich clubs in football. Threats that they are going to break away from the football ecosystem as we know it and create their own private environment,” said the organisation, which represents leagues across Europe, in a statement penned by its president, Lars-Christer Olsson.

Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti ruled out resigning Tuesday after his side swept into the Champions League last 16 powered by Arkadiusz Milik’s hat-trick in a 4-0 win over Genk.

AZ Alkmaar will be able to play this weekend’s top-of-the-table clash with Ajax at their home ground after the Eredivisie club revealed on Tuesday that it was safe to hold matches four months after part of its roof collapsed.

One of Russia’s top athletes, three-time world champion high jumper Mariya Lasitskene, on Tuesday called sports officials to account after her country was banned for four years from international competition.
In her open letter published by Championat.com sports website, Lasitskene, a longtime critic of Russian sports officials, demanded to know who has been punished over the country’s doping scandal and the fact that she cannot compete under the Russian flag.
