Wilder KOs Ortiz to retain WBC heavyweight title

Unbeaten Deontay Wilder landed a devastating right hand to knock out Luis Ortiz in the seventh round and retain his World Boxing Council heavyweight title.
The 34-year-old Wilder remains on course to achieve his goal of unifying all four heavyweight belts despite being largely outboxed by Ortiz before the explosive one-punch finish at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas late Saturday night.
“When I see the right shot, it is baby good night,” Wilder said.

Atletico slips behind Barca with yet another draw

Atletico Madrid lost ground on leaders Barcelona as they were held 1-1 away to Granada on Saturday for a seventh draw in 14 La Liga games.
Diego Simeone’s side went ahead on the hour mark through Brazilian left back Renan Lodi but lost their lead soon after when Granada’s German Sanchez outjumped his marker Hector Herrera and sent a header crashing into the net.
Simeone brought on record signing Joao Felix in search of a winner but his side barely managed to test Granada’s keeper Rui Silva in the closing stages.

Chelsea sparkles but City come back for crucial win

Manchester City returned to winning ways with a 2-1 success over Chelsea on Saturday at the Etihad Stadium.
It ended the Londoners’ run of six straight wins and kept Pep Guardiola’s side nine points behind leaders Liverpool.
City’s loss at Anfield before the international break made this a key game for them but they were made to work for their three points by Frank Lampard’s enterprising side.
Chelsea sliced open City’s defence in the 22nd minute with Mateo Kovacic superbly picking out N’Golo Kante’s forward burst and the French midfielder held off compatriot Benjamin Mendy before smartly slipping the ball past the advancing Ederson.

Rangers urges time change in CAF group fixtures

Rangers International FC of Enugu has appealed to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for a change of time fixed for the group matches scheduled to kick off on December 1.
The Media Officer of the club, Norbert Okoli, made the appeal in a statement issued on Saturday in Enugu.
Okoli stated that the General Manager of the club, Davidson Owumi, had dispatched a letter of appeal to the African football-ruling body through the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
