Lagos hosts African forum on air pollution

The air quality stakeholders in Africa will convene in Lagos for a five-day CLEAN-Air forum to discuss the pressing issue of air pollution in the continent. The forum is expected to attract over 300 participants from over 40 cities in 40 countries. This is contained in a statement signed by Dr Rose Alani, Lead, University of Lagos Air Quality Monitoring Research Group (AQMRG), on Friday in Lagos. The statement said the participants represent the air quality communities in practice in Africa comprising different stakeholders including policymakers, representatives from civil society organisations, the private sector, development partners and the scientific communities.

Cholera outbreak: A’Ibom Govt. sets precautionary measures

Akwa Ibom Government says it has initiated precautionary measures to prevent outbreak of cholera in the state. The state Commissioner for Health, Prof. Augustine Umoh, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Uyo on Friday. Umoh said that the state government has commenced sensitisation of residents in all 31 Local Government Areas of the state on the need to maintain personal and environmental hygiene. FG trains 60 health workers on maternal, infant nutrition

The Federal Government has commenced training no fewer than 60 health workers on nutrition to enhance optimal maternal, infant and young child nutrition communication. Mrs Ladidi Bako-Aiyegbusi, Director and Head of Nutrition Division, Federal Ministry of Health, spoke during the exercise on Thursday in Awka, Anambra. Bako-Aiyegbusi was represented by Mr Ajibola Babatunde, Team lead from the ministry. LASTMA impounds 40 additional vehicles using illegal garages

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has impounded another 25 commercial and 15 private vehicles operating illegal garages and causing serious road obstructions around Oyingbo, Ijora, and Idumota areas of Lagos. Mr Taofiq Adebayo, Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, said this in a statement on Friday in Lagos. PCC resolves 5,000 cases in Borno

The Public Complaints Commission (PCC), says it has resolved about 5,000 complaints in Borno in the past three years. Its commissioner in Borno, Alhaji Yusuf Adamu, made this known in Maiduguri on Thursday during a town hall meeting of stakeholders tagged‘Systemic and Proactive Investigation into Compliance of Private Employers to Pension Reforms’.
