US-based Show Promoter Accuses Nigerian Grammy Award Winner, Burna Boy, Mum Of N28Million Theft, Fraud

Burna Boy

A US-based show promoter, Emmanuel Chinyere Uzoh has accused Nigerian Grammy Award winner, Burna Boy and his mother, Bose Ogulu of extortion, fraud and theft.
Uzoh, who is the CEO of Gold Moola Entertainment, accused the singer of refusing to perform at a show despite being paid in full.

Burna Boy

Stating the allegations on his company’s Instagram handle on Tuesday, Uzoh also accused Ogulu, Burna Boy’s mother and manager, of attempting to extort $10,000 (about N6 million at black market rate of N573 to $1) from him.
He said Ogulu insisted that he had to pay an additional $10,000 before Burna Boy could come downstairs to perform, after he had already been paid.
He wrote, “Bose Ogulu attempted to extort me of $10,000. After the agreed sum was paid in full, she proceeded to ask for an additional $10,000.
“After the balance was paid in full, he posted and confirmed his attendance. That’s when Bose told me that I had to pay another $10k before he comes downstairs.
“I realized that I was being extorted. At that point, I no longer wanted to move forward with the deal. This was around 1:10 am. He was set to arrive at the club at 12:45 am. Once I requested a refund of the $15,000 (about N9 million) that was paid that night, (The deposit was paid on October 7th in Los Angeles) that was when he posted this cancelled flyer.
“When I realised what was happening, I decided to pull from the show completely. I asked for the $15k balance that was paid on the night and they refused to return the money.
“After hours of negotiations in the hotel lobby, the entire team snuck out of the hotel through the back exit to avoid us.”
Uzoh vowed to take up the matter legally, saying his only demand is for Burna Boy and his mother to refund the money he had paid to them.
He continued, “These are just the primary details of what happened on the 31st of October in Houston, Texas. Because I didn’t fall for the demands of extortion, I was robbed of over $50,000 (about N28 million) and my name was left to be slandered in the city I love. We will allow the law to finish what they started. I pride myself on being a stand-up guy, especially in the entertainment industry.
“My only demand at this point is a refund. You were paid for a service that you didn’t complete. Be a stand-up guy and kindly return my money @burnaboygram.”

E2%80%94-mother Slain Boko Haram Leader, Abubakar Shekau Inflicted Severe Pain On Me— Mother

Falmata Abubakar, the mother of the slain Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, has spoken about her late terrorist son.
She said her child inflicted severe pain on her.

According to her, there is nothing between her and Shekau, whether dead or alive.
Noting that she disapproved of his ways, Falmata said she gave up on him.
She made this known during an interview with Trust TV, saying she doesn’t know if her child had any offspring.
“I gave birth to him and on my own part, that is the only and last thing between us. Whether he is alive or not; we have parted ways.
“I never knew whether he had any offspring. He inflicted severe pain on me. God Almighty will judge between us in the hereafter,” she said.
The Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), had in June confirmed the death of Shekau, leader of the Jama’atu Ahlussunnah Lidda’awati Wal Jihad faction of the group.
ISWAP confirmed that Shekau blew himself up after refusing to surrender following the invasion of his hideout on May 19, 2021.
This was contained in a message from Abu Mus’ab Habeeb Bin Muhammad Bin Yusuf al-Barnawi, born Habib Yusuf, leader of the terrorists.
According to HumAngle, al-Barnawi, in an address described Shekau as “the leader of disobedience and corruption.”
He said Shekau’s fighters rejoiced over his death, adding that the former terrorist leader, who took over after the death of Boko Haram founder, Mohammed Yusuf in 2009, was apprehended “in the most humiliating manner.”

The Supreme Court has sternly condemned the invasion of the residence of one of its own, Justice Mary Odili by security operatives last Friday.
The apex court said the security operatives seemed to have been on a mission to “kill and maim” her.

The force men consisting of soldiers and officers of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) were said to have identified themselves as members of a joint task force.
They had arrived with a search warrant, saying they received information on “illegal activities” going on in the house.

Justice Odili is the wife of a former Governor of Rivers State, Peter Odili.
A statement signed by its Director of Press & Information, Dr Festus Akande, described the invasion of Odili’s home as a reminder of the “October 2016 midnight invasion of the homes of our respected justices with no satisfactory explanations as to the true motive behind such brazen assault on our collective sensibility”.
It, therefore, sent a message to the Muhammadu Buhari-led executive arm of government, which controls security operatives, saying “enough is enough”.

The statement read, “We are alarmed with the news of the unwarranted and despicable raid on the official residence of one of our senior justices in the Supreme Court, Hon. Justice Mary Peter Odili, JSC, CFR on Friday 29th October, 2021 in a Gestapo manner that unfortunately depicted a gory picture of war by some armed persons suspected to be security operatives representing different agencies of government, who seemed to have come to kill and maim their target under the guise of undertaking a search whose warrant was questionable and baseless.
“We are deeply saddened and taken aback by this uncivilized and shameful show of primitive force on an innocent judicial officer that has so far spent several years of her productive life serving the country she calls her own.
“This incident brought back, rather painfully, the ugly memory of the October 2016 midnight invasion of the homes of our respected justices with no satisfactory explanations as to the true motive behind such brazen assault on our collective sensibility.

“The judiciary should never be misconstrued by any individual or institution of government as the weeping child among the three arms of government that must always be chastised and ridiculed to silence because of our conservative disposition.

EXCLUSIVE: Real Reason Why Buhari Presidency Cabal Ordered Raid On Home Of Ex-Rivers Governor Odili’s Wife, Justice Mary Odili

“Though there have emerged discordant tunes from the various security agencies that allegedly participated in the dastardly act, we are not lying low on this dehumanizing treatment meted out to one of our own.
“We have commenced a full-scale independent investigation to unravel the true masquerades behind the mystery as well as the real motives behind the whole imbroglio.
“Similarly, we call on the Inspector General of Police of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to rise up to the occasion by carrying out a discreet investigation and make his findings known to the Nigerian public with a view to bringing the perpetrators to justice as quickly as possible.
“The Nigerian Judiciary cannot only bark but can also bite. We can no longer be treated with disdain and levity.

Lagos Building Collapse: Families, Friends Of Trapped Victims Protest, Fault Sanwo-Olu Government, Shoddy Rescue Efforts

Several families and friends of victims trapped inside the rubble of the 21-storey building which collapsed in the Ikoyi axis of Lagos on Monday have slammed the state government for suspending rescue efforts.
Not less than 15 people have so far been confirmed dead since the building located on Gerard Road collapsed.

In several video clips captured by SaharaReporters at the scene, families and friends of those affected faulted the decision of the state government to bar them from joining in the rescue operation.
According to them, some of the officials on the rescue team were only idling away at the scene while their loved ones were left in the rubble.
They argued that the state government should have allowed volunteers to join in the rescue operation to enhance the vixtims’ chances of survival.
“Why won’t they allow us to enter the premises to rescue those affected, our people are inside there… they’re not doing anything,” a man said.
Some women at the scene were seen hurling curses, saying: “Sanwo-Olu and all those responsible for this won’t reap the fruits of their children.”
“If they had allowed us in, the rescue operation would have been faster, but they restricted people,” a woman said.
One of them alleged that the officials stopped working around 3 am on Tuesday and resumed by 7 am.He said: “They stopped work at 3 am and came back at 7 am…in the night, they asked everyone to leave the premises and come back in the morning, where in the world does that happen during an emergency? What kind of country is this?
“They said they are going on break, what kind of stupid break? Are those trapped inside the building on break? Our families are inside, how do you want us to go home? This is nonsense.”

The state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had earlier suspended Gbolahan Oki, the general manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), over the incident.
Gbenga Omotoso, the Lagos commissioner for information and strategy, released a statement to this effect on Tuesday.

The Nigerian Army: Mighty On Paper? By Ozodinukwe Okenwa

The Nigerian Armed Forces have had some glorious and inglorious past. Glorious history when General Olusegun Obasanjo handed over power to the late Shehu Shagari following a democratic process. Glorious moment when, following the sudden timely demise of the barbaric despot, Gen. Sani Abacha, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar handed over power to Olusegun Obasanjo ‘elected’ or selected as President of the nation. Besides, our armed forces had intervened gloriously during the Liberian/Sierra Leonean civil wars and the forced exit of Yahya Jammeh from power in Banjul. Again it had taken part gloriously in peace-keeping missions in many countries outside our shores.
Inglorious past, however, when the Nigerian Army hierarchy led by Gen. Yakubu Gowon plunged Nigeria into a civil war in the late 60s that killed millions of Biafrans. The late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu (then a Colonel) and Gowon still stand guilty of war crimes for which none of them had atoned for.

Inglorious moment also when coup d’etat after coup d’etat the hopes and aspirations of our founding fathers were dashed on the alter of military adventurism in our national political life. Generals Aguiyi-Ironsi, Murtala Mohammed, Ibrahim Babangida, Muhammadu Buhari and a host of others put their personal interests above those of the nation by killing and overthrowing and enthroning themselves. By so doing they truncated civilian rule in different epochs stifling the civic space and destroying the economy.
Today, the Nigerian Army of pride of yore has given way to an army of occupation with a retired coup plotter now the democratically-elected President! Glory belongs to the past as the military institution has been bastardised and turned into a regional force made up of mostly Hausa/Fulani high command. Esprit-de-corp is now a thing of the past as primordial ethnic, religious and regional considerations dictate who gets what and who gets promoted or demoted or retired.
Penultimate weekend a London-based Economist magazine (founded over a hundred years ago!) had published a scathing report on the Nigerian military and the war on terror. The damaging article was titled: “The Crime Scene at the Heart of Africa; Insurgency, Secessionism and Banditry Threaten Nigeria”. In it the magazine pulled punches labelling our army as one only mighty on paper! It said that the forces were filled “with corrupt Generals and unable to protect the country from the mutating violence”.

E2%80%99s-country-home-bullets-recovered Gunmen Attack Yoruba Secessionist Leader, Banji Akintoye’s Country Home, Bullets Recovered

The Yoruba Nation coordinator, Professor Banji Akintoye’s residence in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State has been reportedly attacked by gunmen.
This was disclosed on Tuesday by the umbrella body of Yoruba Self-Determination Groups, Ilana Omo Oodua, in a statement by its spokesperson, Maxwell Adeleye.

The organisation that attached the images from the scene of the attack noted that the incident happened while Akintoye was not there.
He, however, added that the police had been notified.
“The leadership of the umbrella body of Yoruba Self-Determination Groups, Ilana Omo Oodua (IOO), is displeased to inform the general public that the Ado-Ekiti country home of its leader, Professor Banji Akintoye, was attacked on Saturday, 30th October, 2021.
“Gunshots were fired into the house by assailants who apparently climbed a chair outside the gate to shoot in.

“Luckily, Professor Banji Akintoye was not around at the time, and nobody was hurt.
“Bullets suspected to be from AK-47 rifles were recovered after they dropped from the ceiling onto the floor.
“The matter has since been reported to the Ekiti State Police Command for investigation. The police did not arrest anyone up till this moment.
“We the Yoruba people within, and beyond the horizon of Nigeria will hold the Nigerian Government responsible if any evil happens to our leader or any of his relations,” the group stated.
