E2%80%94-senator-ndume Some Boko Haram Terrorists Despite Repenting Should Be Prosecuted — Senator Ndume

Ali Ndume

The Senator representing Borno South, Ali Ndume, has said some repentant Boko Haram insurgents “that have blood on their hands” must be investigated and prosecuted.
Recall that weeks ago, the media was agog with reports of repeated surrenders of Boko Haram terrorists to the Nigerian military.

Ali Ndume

More than 2,000 terrorists were reported to have surrendered and branded ‘repentant’ by the Army, claiming adherence to international laws relating to ‘enemies willing to surrender’.
Some Nigerians have kicked against the de-radicalisation and rehabilitation initiative for the insurgents by the Nigerian army under the Safe Corridor programme.
Speaking on Saturday after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, in Abuja, Ndume maintained that the former insurgents cannot be let off the hook just because they have surrendered.
He said, “My stance on this has not changed, only that maybe people interpret it the way they want. There is a national law that should guide all these and there is international law that guides this because this is not the first time we’re having this sort of challenge in various countries,” Ndume said.
“Normally, when you get to war level, you are expected to either defeat the enemy or the enemy surrenders. Once the enemy surrenders, you lose the right of summarily executing him because he is an enemy. You also don’t have the right to summarily declare him innocent and say, oh, you have sinned, go and sin no more.
“What I’m saying initially and I still maintain this position, in as much as we welcome the surrendering of the Boko Haram, it is very important that we follow the due process, according to the law of the land and the international law.
“That is to say, take them in, profile them, process them, investigate them, interrogate them and then those that are innocent, should be let go, and those that have blood on their hands, they should be appropriately prosecuted.
“Once the person surrenders, now, he has an advantage. Once you surrender, you cannot just be summarily convicted, you will be given the right to go to court and declare your innocence or otherwise. That is what I’m asking for.”
Ndume, who is also the chairman of the Senate committee on the army, had earlier asked the army not to treat the repentant insurgents with kid gloves.

E2%80%93-niger-delta-elders-tackle-buhari-regime-over-release Stop Your Divide-and-Rule Antics – Niger Delta Elders Tackle Buhari Regime Over Release Of Pay Slips Given To Amnesty Leaders

Stakeholders from the nine states of the Niger Delta region have warned the Presidency against deliberate antics to divide and instigate crisis within the region by releasing documents capable of causing confusion and bloodshed.
According to the stakeholders, made up of ex-militant youths, women and elders from the region, the decision by the Presidency to release bulk payment details to ex-militant leaders over Amnesty stipends is childish and a mischievous attempt at inciting ex-militants against each other in the region.

The stakeholders, in a statement issued in Yenagoa and signed by Commander Joseph Oyinkuro, despite the weak attempt by the Presidency, said the people of the region are aware that the ex-militant leaders have always received bulk payments and in-turn distributed the funds to thousands of members within their various camps to maintain the peace and stability in the region.
According g to the statement, the payment done by the Presidency was to enable the federal government and the multinational oil companies to explore oil and natural gas worth billions of dollars annually from the Niger Delta region which accounts for over 90 percent of Nigeria foreign exchange earnings for over 50 years.
Rather than shielding the names of the sponsors of terrorists from the public, the stakeholders called on the Presidency to do the same and release the names of the sponsors of Boko Haram, the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISAWP) terrorists and bandits that to this day have continued to maim, kill and displaced tens of thousands of innocent men, women and children without any resistance from the Presidency.
According to the stakeholders, “On July 21, 2015, the Federal Government obtained a $2.1 billion credit from the World Bank to rebuild the North-East zone devastated by the jihadist group, Boko Haram.
President Muhammadu Buhari announced this in Washington DC, United States.
“The Presidential Initiative for the Northeast started in 2015 with a world bank loan of $2.1 billion USD (Over N700 Billion) with 105,000 allege beneficiaries from the north while the Niger Delta Amnesty Programme that generates the resources for the entire nation is only 30,000 beneficiaries with N65 billion annually.
“On the 24th June, 2020, Sahara Reporters published an article about President Buhari’s nephew Sabiu Yusuf’s (Tunde) fat bank accounts that shocked the CBN Governor. Sabiu reportedly said the billions in his accounts are “gifts” from people. But why didn’t he get such “gifts” when he was a recharge card seller prior to 2015? Accepting “gifts” for favors done while occupying a privileged government position (he’s Buhari’s Private Secretary and de facto Chief of Staff) is against the law.
“According to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Nigeria’s revenue generated from the sales of oil and gas in the Niger Delta region between 1999 to 2016 alone amounts to N77.348trillion. Specifically, data compiled from the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, showed that Nigeria earned N77.348trillion from the oil and gas industry from 1999 to 2016. This report only takes into account a 17 years period out of the over 50 years.
“Northerners as majority Owners of oil wells and oil blocks in communities across the Niger Delta region while the Zamfara State gold mines and revenues from sales are recorded as private business.
“We must not forget that without the Amnesty agreement in place under the leadership of late President Umar Musa Yar’Adua, Nigeria would have gone bankrupt. The federal government must not play with fire, and they must understand that there are billions of dollars in foreign investments in the Niger Delta region with lots of foreign interests given their multibillion dollars assets which are strategic to their national security interests.’”
“Any attempt by the federal government to use their old divide and rule or conquer tactics to destabilise the Niger Delta region in order to continue its exploitation of our God-given resources will be resisted by all means necessary, and any potential dialogue with the United Nations and other international organisations will require a minimum of 1million Amnesty beneficiaries to be trained and empowered.”

A nine-year-old girl, Zainab Bala-Umar, has been killed by a stray bullet from a Nigerian Army personnel at Gwanki Ward, Makarfi Local Government during the local government elections in Kaduna State.

The eyewitness said the APC candidate, Alhaji Kabir Maiyere, had gone to one of the polling units under Fadamar Gwanki and while having a conversation with an electoral officer over some challenges of the e-voting machine, some youths had to start to shout, ‘ba na so, ba na so” meaning “we don’t want.”

Violence Mars Kaduna Elections As Hoodlums Snatch 41 Voting Machines, Assault Electoral Officers

The Chairman of Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission Saratu Audu-Dikko has said about 41 electronic voting machines were snatched during the election on Saturday which turned violent in some areas.
In Giwa and Igabi local government areas of the state, hoodlums vandalised not less than 11 electronic voting machines during the council polls.

Audu-Dikko said electoral officers were assaulted by the hoodlums who carted away some election materials, Cable reports.
“Thirty EVMs were carted away at Kwarau in Igabi local government, with two destroyed, while nine others at Panhauya in Giwa local government, were equally vandalised,” she said.
“The hoodlums also carted away election materials and assaulted the driver and staff of the commission conveying the materials.”
The chairman also stated that some other staff of the commission, including ad-hoc staff, were also assaulted in the aforementioned areas.
Earlier, the governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, expressed concern over the low turnout of voters during the election.
Speaking after casting his vote at the Ungwan Sarkin polling unit 001 in the Kaduna north local government area, el-Rufai attributed the low turnout to the late arrival of some of the election materials.
He, however, said there was a vast improvement in the election process compared to that of 2018.
According to El-Rufai, the electronic voting machine makes it impossible for voters to indulge in multiple voting.
He said the APC does not have to win everywhere, adding that the party has worked for the people of the state.
“You activate the voting machine with your voter’s card once you have been accredited. The whole process takes less than 15 seconds; it’s very quick and efficient and you see your ballot paper being printed,” he said.

Killing Of Olajide Sowore: What Do Fulani Terrorists Want? By Bayo Oluwasanmi

I woke up 5 am US Eastern Standard Time to the shocking and devastating news of the gruesome murder of Olajide Felix Sowore, the younger brother of the activist Omoyele Sowore. Olajide Sowore was killed today around 6 am Nigerian time by Fulani herdsmen terrorists along Lagos-Benin Expressway. Sowore was a Pharmacy student of Igbinedion University, Okada.
The dastardly murder of Olajide Sowore once again magnified and amplified what Buhari and his Fulani terrorists have turned Nigeria to. Since Buhari The Butcher of Aso Rock came to power, the Fulani herdsmen terrorists have become an annex of the presidency. It is no more secret that Buhari is the commander-in-chief of both Boko Haram terrorists and Fulani herdsmen terrorists.

These Fulani terrorists are defined by their rage: unbridled, unquenchable, and unthinking fury. Their anger is the ferocity of a cornered predator, the unrelenting assault of a storm, and the churning turmoil of the sea. To Fulani terrorists, their animal nature, ferocious rage are qualities of keen instincts. To them, civilization is not a virtue but a crime.
As high priests of blood suckers, the Fulani terrorists take a strange pride in being the worst of human species. From Buhari, The Butcher of Aso Rock, to the haggard, hungry, blood thirsty nomadic Fulani herdsmen terrorists, they are impervious to civilized order. They are all mad men – the pariah of reason. They display their killings and violence with candor.
How can we defend our law, civilization, and decency against savage Fulani terrorists who kill for laughter, joy, and pure wickedness? How can we keep our people from senseless killings of group of lunatics, religious bigots, “repentant” terrorists?
How can we live with Buhari and Fulani terrorists whose only goals are: ethnic cleansing and islamization? How can we co-exist peacefully with sadistic and barbaric Fulani terrorists who relish in leaving piles of innocent dead bodies behind? How do we prevent what happened to Olajide Sowore from happening to other Nigerians? How do we tame and civilize these mean, brutal, uncompromising, and very deadly animals?
We understand if someone killed for self defense. But when these Fulani terrorists kill the innocent, the harmless, and the defenseless, we ask: How could they? What do Fulani terrorists want?
Our prayers and thoughts are with Omoyele Sowore and the entire Sowore family. May the soul of Olajide Sowore Rest In Peace.

E2%80%94-african-action-congress-speaks Buhari Regime Has Failed To Secure Lives, Property Of Nigerians — African Action Congress Speaks On Murder Of Sowore’s Brother

Felix Olajide Sowore

The African Action Congress, AAC has commiserated with its National Chairman, Omoyele Sowore, over the death of his younger brother, Olajide Sowore who was murdered in cold blood on Saturday.
The deceased was a student of Pharmacy at Igbinedion University before the unfortunate incident.

Felix Olajide Sowore

Sowore stated that the Divisional Police Officer of the Okada Police Station confirmed that Felix was truly murdered in cold blood by bloodthirsty herdsmen.
Reacting in a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary, Femi Adeyeye, the AAC highlighted the ‘incompetence’ of President Muhammadu Buhari led government to secure the lives and property of Nigerians both home and abroad.
The party condemned the killing of Olajide while calling on the police and other security agents to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the murder.
It, however, urged Nigerians to unite and organize actions to kick out the failed regime leaving behind tribal and ethnic sentiments.
A statement from the party reads, “It is with deep and heartfelt sobriety, the African Action Congress pens its condolence message to the National Chairman, Omoyele Sowore who lost his immediate younger brother to the Buhari regime’s gross wickedness and incompetence. There’s no emphasis in saying it’s a sad day for all of us in the AAC, home and abroad.
“It has been reported that Jide Sowore, who until his unfortunate death was a Pharmacy student at Igbinedion University, Okada was murdered by killer herdsmen while traveling on the Ore-Benin expressway in the early hours of Saturday, September 4, 2021.
“Shall we remind ourselves that many a Nigerian has been slain by the incompetence of the Buhari regime- failure to secure lives and property, and that no one is safe either at home- land, air or on sea including on our roads that are now clear death traps.
“It is so sad that the insecurity ravaging our land is no more a matter of “if”, it is now an issue of “when”- when will it get to us?
”Although we are mourning with our teeth gnashing and our eyes filled with tears, yet we can see clearly and it is to this end we call on the Police and other security agents to investigate the circumstances surrounding this killing and fish out the killers of this young promising Nigerian whose life of service to the country has just been cut short.
“The AAC calls on Nigerians to bond as a matter of expediency, and organize with actions to kick out this regime that has failed woefully on its three major promises- providing security for all Nigerians, reviving the economy and fighting corruption.
“The reality before us today is that if we do not bond, leaving behind our tribal and religious differences to end this terrorist regime, it will end us separately. This is not a bad prayer or wish at all.
“May the gentle soul of our brother and Comrade, Jide Sowore continue to rest in power.”

E2%80%94-okei-odumakin-tells Investigate Murder Of Sowore’s Brother To Douse Suspicion Of Complicity — Okei Odumakin Tells Nigerian Government

Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin

Joe Okei-Odumakin, President of Centre for Change, has condemned the murder of Olajide Sowore, younger brother to the human rights’ activist, Omoyele Sowore.
Olajide was murdered in cold blood by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Saturday in the Okada area of Edo State.

Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin

Before his death, he was a student of Igbinedion University, Okada, where he was studying Pharmacy.
Okei-Odumakin, in a statement on Saturday, titled, ‘Olajide Sowore: One murder too many’ urged the Nigerian authorities to thoroughly investigate the death of the young man and bring the perpetrators to book.
This, she said, will douse suspicions that might want to arise linking the death of Olajide to the running battle between Omoyele Sowore and the Nigerian government.
She, however, stated that the death of Olajide could have been avoided were the Nigerian government more responsive to calls to end killings and bloodshed across the country.
Her statement reads, “To put it mildly, the murder of Olajide Sowore, younger brother of activist, Omoyele Sowore, is one murder too many.
”The younger Omoyele was shot dead in Edo State by suspected herdsmen /kidnappers while returning from Igbinedion University where he is said to be studying Pharmacy.
”I hardly could believe this dastardly act until I spoke with Comrade Omoyele Sowore himself and he confirmed the gruesome killing of his brother.
“When will these senseless killings stop? When will the Federal Government and the security agencies wake up from their slumber and become alive to their prime responsibility of protecting life and property?
“When will the criminals be brought to book? Before our very eyes, the country is becoming a failed state; yet, all we hear from the government are condolence messages and platitudes that do not hold water.
“We demand a thorough investigation into this killing. We demand that the perpetrators be apprehended speedily and be brought to justice.
“It is because the government had been tardy in its response to previous killings all over the country that it has been accused of duplicity and, even, complicity.
“To shrug off such suspicion and accusation, it must act swiftly to arrest the killers of Olajide Sowore and bring them to book.
“Government need not be told that its running battle with the older Sowore, Omoyele, over the issue of good governance is one reason this murder cannot be swept under the carpet.
“Otherwise, tongues will wag and opinion will solidify around the culpability of the powers-that-be that this killing was orchestrated as pay-back time for Omoyele Sowore.
“Government must avoid allowing this murder to be seen as a pain purposely inflicted on Omoyele Sowore to cower as well as punish him for his tango with the Muhammadu Buhari administration over issues of good governance and respect for fundamental human rights.”
