Open Letter To Mele K Kyari, GMD NNPC, By NNPC Transparency Group

Dear GMD, Sir When you were confirmed as the GMD NNPC just over 2 years ago, we hoped for progress of the corporation, but never did we think you will take us back to rampant corruption, relentless propaganda, deceit and constant LIES.

You turned the Management promotion exercise (renamed Internal open resource) to a selection process. Top management staff who were supposed to be supervising the CBT were openly aiding and abetting cheating during the exercise. There was no order. It was a disgrace to the esteem of the corporation. Some staff were openly using their phones. You claim to have had full view of the venues, so the cheating, noises and disorder were clearly visible to you but there was no consequence. The worst of that exercise was panel members conniving to promote selected candidates in their respective business/ service units. Your only agenda was to promote your idiotic acolytes to the detriment of a structured system. Your staff openly bragged that you had promised to promote them to managers from SS1. A number of us have been SS1 for more than 7 years.
We are aware of the instruction given to you GMD by Barkindo to ensure you promote Maryam Uwais to a manager, from SS1. As a result, you scammed us all to believing you were running a fair promotion exercise. Sir, you could have done so without deceiving everybody you were running IOR and then make it a selection process. If that was the people strategy, we are surprised that promotion to Manager from SS1 has been stepped down in the 2021 exercise since most of your acolytes have been promoted.
We are surprised that you did not further debase the pass mark of the CBT to 30% this year. How could 50% be performance excellence Mr GMD? No doubt majority of the people you want to promote this time scored 60% and above. It is only in NNPC that the pass mark for an exam is determined after the exam is written. Transparency, Accountability and Performance Excellence is a scam. And the distribution of scores for CBT, interview and appraisal has not been announced to us.
Before this process commenced, positions were being reserved. Staff have been lobbying and begging for positions with little or no interest in work. The change in dropping panel members and management who cheated shamelessly in last year’s process has gone a long way in bringing credibility to the interview process and giving us all a fair chance.
Lastly, we plead with you to postpone your planned promotion exercise in September. Two promotion exams in one year will further worsen the financial position of the corporation.

Pastor Seeks Probe As Islamic Cleric Threatens To Kill Many Christians In Plateau State If Muslims Are Attacked Again

In Plateau State, an Islamic cleric, Alkali Abubakar Salihu Zaria, has threatened to kill Christians if Muslims are attacked again. On Saturday, August 14, some travelers were killed by gunmen in the Jos North Local Government Area of the state.

The sojourners were returning from Bauchi State where they attended an event to commemorate the Islamic New Year when they ran into gunmen who opened fire on them.Reacting during a sermon, Zaria stated that if such occurs again, the lives of many Christians would be sacrificed in northern states. He called on President Muhammadu Buhari and governors of northern states to rise to the occasion and put a stop to the killing of Muslims. He said, “Here is my message to the infidels in Plateau and to Christian Association of Nigeria Plateau and to CAN Nigeria in general.“I am the one speaking, I am Alkali Abubakar Salihu Zaria.“I swear to God almighty, if such ever occur again, there are Christians in Kaduna state, there are Christians in Zamfara state, there are Christians in Sokoto, they are in Katsina, Kebbi. There are Christians in Gombe, Damaturu and Yobe and there are major roads. We will also block the roads, waylay Christian commuters.“We are not fools and we are not afraid of anyone. If nothing is done, we will take the law into our own hands because no life is superior to others and I swear, compensation must be paid for the lives of the people lost (Jos Muslim commuters). ”The nonsense they are doing to us is enough! And we challenge our leaders, we challenge our representatives, we don’t see their use. They are useless. Stupid and worthless people (leaders). You are enjoying AC in your offices but don’t care about the lives of your people (talking about Muslims).“Nasiru Ahmed El-Rufai is far better, may God bless you. I swear to God, If that incident had happened in Kaduna State under Nasiru El-rufai, they would have been taught a serious lesson.“You keep waylaying people of God and killing them for no just reason and they said we should keep quiet. Anyone who said we should keep quiet, may God curse his blessings and whoever doesn’t say amen to this, may God also curse his blessings.“They keep killing God’s people without any reason. We hear they kill us with weapons (talking about bandits). Over there too they waylay and kill God’s people. The most baffling thing is that the commuters killed were not even citizens of Northern Nigeria; they were only traveling along the road. Brethren if you watch the video, how they slaughtered persons, how they hit their heads on the pavement.“Hello Mr President, Hello Mr Lalong the governor of Jos, you should mind yourselves! You have to mind yourselves and be very careful, you have to be very careful. We are Nigerian indigenes, we are citizens, we have rights too.“They killed Our General, Alkali, they killed our Fulani leaders, they’ve also killed many God’s people. You block the road, stop vehicles. Those vehicles are government vehicles. You brought out the passengers and slaughtered them one after the other and mutilated their flesh.“Minister Pantami, we want to hear sermons from you, we want to hear sermons from your mouth. During Jonathan’s era, they killed people. Because a Muslim is a leader and people are killed, we should not talk?“Did God send Buhari to us? I swear we won’t accept this, I swear we will not agree. The government must take action. They followed the people of God to Eid ground in Rukuba and slaughtered them, roasted their flesh, and eat yet no action was taken but when one infidel is killed in the beer parlor, people will keep mourning on the newspapers, like Daily Trust, weekly trusts, Thisday etc. but our lives are of less value. I swear we won’t tolerate such, this will not happen.“We have leadership in Islam, we are waiting for them to speak but we will never agree, we won’t accept this, the killing of people is too much. They are claiming that Plateau is their state, a Christian state, that’s a lie, let them do a census, let them count people and see. “Who are the people that marry 4 wives, Muslims or infidels? Who gathers 50 children on earth, Muslim or infidels?Lies and worthless lies!“I swear this will not go unpunished, we won’t accept this, action must be taken and if they don’t take action, we will also react in our states. “Every infidel should prepare; he will leave the earth if nothing is done about our people that were killed in Jos. I swear, we will revenge and you should know that the life of one Muslim is equivalent to 100 infidels. “That is the truth, the life of one Muslim is equal to 100 infidels. No life is greater than another. It is either action is taken or they will see what they don’t like.”He concluded by saying some Muslim prayers in Arabic.Meanwhile, the Director-General, Centre for Justice on Religion and Ethnicity in Nigeria, Kallamu Musa Ali Dikwa, condemned the video, urging security agencies to start the probe of the Islamic cleric. Dikwa, who is a Christian cleric, stated that for the past two weeks, innocent Irigwe youths had been killed in retaliation for the attack. He stated that if the utterances made by Zaria had come from a Christian cleric, the security agencies would have invited such person for questioning. “Every day now, the Fulani terrorists have continued to attack Irigwe communities, killed them and destroyed their farmland. Over 70 people have been killed in three weeks in Irigwe land but no single Muslim leader from the north came out to condemn the killings of Irigwe people,” he told SaharaReporters“There are claims by the Fulani leaders and Islamic leaders that these Fulani victims are innocent. Please can someone amongst them answer these questions: (1) According to some print media the victims were in 5 Hummer buses, why is it that pictures/registration numbers of the buses are not captured? (2) There is an ambulance amongst the buses? (3) The buses were intercepted buses by security agents, why is it that the security agencies are hiding the truth? “(4) The so-called Sheikh Alkali Abubakar said in his video the buses belong to the government, we want to know if the buses are for Ondo, Bauchi or the Federal government?“Christians are being killed; we have all the records of their names and pictures of the Christians that have been killed from Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Yobe, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara states. “Sheikh Alkali Abubakar is simply informing us that they are going to use the recent incident to continue with their normal activities of terrorizing the Christians from the north.    “If it’s a Christian cleric that made these utterances as this so-called Sheikh, the security agencies could have invited him for interrogation. But since he is a Muslim cleric, he can say anything he likes and goes free. Does it mean Muslim clerics are not bound by Nigerian law?”

Everything Is Wrong With A Northerner Succeeding The Butcher Of Aso Rock, By Bayo Oluwasanmi

I have said one million times that I don’t believe in one Nigeria because Nigeria has never been one country. It is not one. It will never be one. I have written extensively with convincing reasons why Yoruba must leave Nigeria.

I don’t care who succeeds General Muhammadu Buhari The Butcher of Aso Rock in 2023. A cow might as well succeed him. After all, a cow is a better manager in the ranch than the way Buhari is running Nigeria. However, I disagree with Pastor Tunde Bakare Senior Pastor of the Citadel Global Community Church in Lagos when he said “Let the best of the best emerge… It doesn’t matter which part of the country the person comes from.” …”If it is a Northerner, a Hausa or Fulani, so be it. And I am saying that passionately.”

Bakare is a loose cannon who speaks from both sides of his mouth. He says different and contradictory things at different times. For example, he once said “In the name of Jesus, he (Buhari) is number 15. I am number 16. To this end, I was born and for this purpose came I into the world. I have prepared you for this for more than 30 years.” At another time he said “God has shown me in a vision that GMB still had a role to play in stabilizing Nigeria.”

Ahead of the 1999 elections of the then PDP candidate former president Olusegun Obasanjo, Bakare prophesied that “Obasanjo is not your messiah, he is king Agag and the prophetic axe will come upon his head.” Because of Bakare’s false prophecy, many believed Obasanjo would never become the president. Bakare has neither credibility nor integrity. He is a spiritually damaged good. Unreliable and unpredictable. He is not believable and trustworthy. He is an hypocrite.

It is evident that “the best of the best” cannot emerge from the north. Everything is wrong with a northerner succeeding Buhari because the northerners that have ruled us so far lack the following leadership qualities:
(1) They are not good communicators. A president must be able to communicate his vision clearly and explain how he’ll accomplish the vision. (2) They lack honesty and integrity. These two elements make for a strong president. How can a president demands honesty and integrity from his subordinates and Nigerians when he lacks such qualities? (3) They are not good decision makers. A president should be capable of making the right decision at the right time. They lack judgment call to make wise decisions.

(4) They can not inspire others. The toughest thing for a president is to convince people to follow him. This is only possible by providing a clear example. Leadership is by example. (5) They cannot delegate tasks effectively. A president must focus on core duties for effective leadership and delegate the rest to others. (6) They don’t have vision and purpose. A president must be able to imagine the future where he takes the country. He must be able to reveal the course of action to accomplish his vision and purpose. (7) They are nepotistic. They have a hidden agenda of Fulanizing and Islamizing Nigeria. They are not “the best of the best” to move Nigeria forward.

Presidency Blasts Ortom, Accuses Him Of Causing Death Of Innocent Nigerians

The Presidency, on Wednesday, berated Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, calling him a sectarian and ethnocentric leader. In a statement, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, condemned the stance of the governor, particularly on the Ranches Establishment Law.

Shehu alleged that Ortom stirs up hatred against herders and Muslims in the state with the use of languages reminiscent of the Rwandan genocide.Shehu stated that the governor should not be trusted with holding public office, noting that he was looking forward to the outcome of the next election so Ortom would be voted out.He said, “Governor Samuel Ortom has few political principles. We can see this from the fact that he has changed political parties five times during his undistinguished career.“Every time he feels the wind may be blowing in a certain direction, he follows it.“Unfortunately, for the good citizens of Benue State, the most dangerous direction he blows in today is that of sectarianism and ethnicity.“In an attempt to boost his sinking political fortunes, Ortom takes the cheapest and lowest route possible by playing on ethnic themes – and in doing so knowingly causes deaths of innocent Nigerians by inciting farmers against herders, and Christians against Muslims.“Specifically, Ortom stirs up hatred by targeting one single ethnic group in Nigeria – using language reminiscent of the Rwandan genocide.“As was the case in Rwanda where the then Hutu leaders of the country incited their countrymen against each other, claiming there was a “secret Tutsi agenda” over the Hutu, Ortom claims there is a “secret Fulanization agenda” over other ethnic groups in his state and in Nigeria. This is a copy of the language of Hutu Power – which falsely, and intentionally, accused the Rwandan Tutsi of plans to dominate the country.“This wicked talk is aimed at giving cover to his so-called “policy” on the Ranches Establishment Law – which in reality is purely an act of denial of the law – intended to withhold rights and freedoms from one ethnic group alone, whilst inciting race hatred against them amongst all others.“These are not the actions of a man who should be trusted with running public services or holding public office.“For the governor of a major state in Nigeria to be politically driven by ethnic hatred is a stain on our country.“The good, and fair-minded people of Benue State deserve more than this, and we look forward to the next elections when they have an opportunity to restore its greatness.”

20-year-old Who Defrauded American Of $500 On Facebook Jailed For One Year In Kwara

A High Court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State has sentenced 20-year-old Udoh Sunday Okon to one-year imprisonment for defrauding an American, Kimberly, to the tune of $500 on Facebook.
The Ilorin Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Wednesday, secured the conviction of Udoh for offenses bordering on Facebook lottery scam.

Udoh, an undergraduate who hails from Akwa Ibom, was prosecuted on a one-count charge, to which he pleaded guilty.
This was contained in a statement issued by the EFCC Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, on Wednesday.
The charge reads, “That you, Udoh Sunday Okon (Christopher Wray), sometime in March 2021 at Ilorin, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did cheat by personation when you pretended to be one Christopher Wray a white male with +18315088635 as your WhatsApp business line and fraudulently deceived Kimberly, an American, to send $500.00 ( Five Hundred United States Dollars) worth of eBay gift card to you after you made him believe that he won $1,000,000.00 (One Million Dollars) Facebook lottery and you thereby committed an offense contrary to Section 321 of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 324 of the Penal Code.”

Following his plea, Sesan Ola, counsel to the EFCC, prayed the court to convict the defendant and sentence him based on his plea and the evidence tendered before the court.

Justice Sikiru Oyinloye of the Kwara State High Court, Ilorin pronounced the defendant guilty of the offense and sentenced him to a term of one year in prison.
However, the judge offered the convict a punishment of N200,000 (Two Hundred Thousand Naira Only) as an alternative.
In addition, the court ordered the forfeiture of N206, 000 draft raised as restitution by the convict and the iPhone which he used in perpetrating the crime to the Nigerian Government.

Audacity Of Fake News: Army Recruiting Boko Haram Members? By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo

It is my deduction that fake news is fecundated by prejudice; prejudices whether ethnic, political or religious. Nigeria’s social media dome is a hang-out for lies, malice and bigotry. Falsehood in this seemingly anonymous quarter is oxygenated by hate and bias. The canard of the Nigerian Army recruiting repentant Boko Haram insurgents, for example, has been rippling because it fits into the prevailing solitary narrative and slant.

Fredrick Nwabufo

It is really startling to see well-certificated Nigerians gobbling and vectoring fallacies because they suit their bias. These ones advertise ‘’certificated ignorance’’ with vanity titles on their bios. How can anyone who has gone through the tedious mill of pedagogy and who makes pretensions to high academic qualifications resolve without a scintilla of proof that the nation’s military is absorbing terrorists? Is it a case of ‘’certificated ignorance’’ or deliberate mischief?
It makes absolutely no sense that a ‘’PhD holder’’ will choose to believe the nattering of internet infestations but disregard obtrusive facts. In scholarship, there is methodology – a process in arriving at conclusions. Theories and arguments must be tested and verified. But why do some cast aside the diligence and thoroughness that come with education to promote falsehood?
The surrendering of some Boko Haram fighters has effectuated cynicism and suspicion among Nigerians. Nigerians have a reason to be sceptical about the mass capitulation of the insurgents, especially as the military authorities handed some of them placards, saying ‘’Nigerians forgive us’’ and making drama of the entire matter.
Personally, I believe that performance was unnecessary. It is only counter-productive. These are people who are unlettered and whose hands have been made unclean by the blood of the innocents they killed without provocation. It is customary to allow the surrendering of enemy forces. But I do not think it is decent to make a lachrymal show out of the submission of suspected killers. That violates the sensibilities of their victims – widows, orphans and those who lost precious ones.
The surrendering of insurgents is a tactical breakthrough if only it will bring an end to the decade-old war in the north-east. But the war still rages, and already the government is rehabilitating and reintegrating these ‘’repentant outlaws’’. It is natural that Nigerians will want to proceed with cautious optimism and cynicism since terrorism is still much alive in the region.
Reacting to the pervasive apprehension over the reformation of insurgents, Lucky Irabor, chief of defence staff, asked Nigerians to trust the rehabilitation of the repentant insurgents. A statement issued by Benjamin Sawyerr, defence spokesman, on Tuesday, said: “On the recent fear and apprehension making the rounds about the mass surrendering of Boko Haram/ISWAP ex-members, the CDS reassured Nigerians to trust the relevant agencies that have been tasked with responsibility of planning the rehabilitation of repented insurgents.”
Rehabilitation offers an exit path for insurgents seeking absolution. But Nigerians would like to see those who took up arms against the state, killing citizens pay for their crimes. It is a knotty convergence of expedient policy and moral justice.
But is the army recruiting repentant Boko Haram members? While the military through ‘Operation Safe Corridor’ has been rehabilitating insurgents, there is no official record of the enlistment of former insurgents into the army. We should give our armed forces some credit. It is acute mischief to spread injurious falsehood that has the potency of desiccating citizen/law enforcement cohesion.
The military is about the most organised of all Nigerian institutions – forged in discipline, formulaic procedures and principles. Over the years the army has come out to dispel the speculation that it is recruiting former insurgents. It had to double down on its position on Wednesday as the fiction remains animated.
Onyema Nwachukwu, army spokesman, said: “For the avoidance of doubt, the NA does not have any repentant terrorist joining its ranks and does not have any plan for that. There are teeming able-bodied Nigerians that are willing to join the NA to genuinely help in the fight against terrorism and other violent crimes. The campaign of falsehood embarked upon by some individuals who do not wish the nation well cannot distract its personnel from their resolve to bring an end to the violent crimes in the country.”
I have done some digging seeking answers from confidants in the military circles and some trusted sources, but there is no verisimilitude in the pesky rumour. At most, some former insurgents are used as informants and baits to capture ‘’bigger fishes’’. I also learnt that the surrendering of insurgents is purely intelligence-driven. There is more to it than meets the eye.
Fake news remains fossilised as long as the triggers are operative. Ethnic, religious and political biases fecundate falsehood here.
The fake news of the army recruiting former Boko Haram insurgents dovetails with the ‘’northernisation of the military conspiracy theory’’. This falsehood has rippled for long because it fits perfectly into the prevailing ethnic and sectional prejudices.
The fight against banditry and insurgency is a collective effort. We should not help in the propaganda of the enemy.

Defend Nigeria.

Fact Check: 32% Of Nigerians Don’t Own Bitcoin As Twitter CEO Claimed

Claim: Jack Dorsey, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Twitter, the microblogging platform, recently tweeted that 32 percent of Nigerians own Bitcoin.
Verdict: This piece of information is false. Jack quoted the result of an online poll which only surveyed about 1000 — 4000 respondents from Nigeria which cannot be used for generalisation.

Full Story
On August 14, Dorsey took to his handle and wrote: “Wow: ‘32 percent of Nigerians own Bitcoin, the highest percentage in the world…” with a Nigerian flag attached.
Screenshot of Dorsey’s quote had been lifted from a report by an author Samantha Messing on Medium. The link to the post was also attached to the post.
The author, in an obvious rebuttal to the stance of United States Senator to Massachusetts, Elizabeth Warren, on the new currency, wrote a letter to the Senator titled, ‘Why Progressives Should Love Bitcoin: An Open Letter to Senator Elizabeth Warren.’
Messing had highlighted instances where Warren expressed concerns over the perceived unlawfulness of the new currency.
Warren, a longtime bitcoin sceptic, had once said cryptocurrency is powered by a “shadowy faceless group of super coders.”
She had also described it as a “scam,” a “bogus private digital money,” “highly opaque,” and built to “assist criminals.
Warren recently urged Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen to identify and remedy risks posed by cryptocurrencies and to craft a “comprehensive and coordinated” framework through which federal agencies can continually regulate virtual coins.
Messing argued that rather than Warren’s perception, Bitcoin is the most democratised form of money ever created, highlighting the benefits such as a fixed and predetermined monetary policy; a decentralised, transparent, democratic network.
While further buttressing her argument, she quoted the outcome of a survey by Statista, a popular database company saying, “…32 percent of Nigerians own Bitcoin, the highest percentage in the world…”
Jack had obviously lifted this part of the article and shared it on his platform generating over 4,000 retweets and about 19, 000 likes as of the time of this report.
The Twitter CEO has remained consistent in his support for the Bitcoin revolution among Nigerians and was one of the campaigners for the use of cryptocurrency during the #EndSars protests.
Verdict
Dubawa ran a keyword search on Google and found out the claim that 32 percent of Nigerians use bitcoin had been misquoted from the outcome of a survey by Statista, an online portal that provides data on the global digital economy, industrial sectors, consumer markets, public opinion, media, demography, macroeconomic trends among others.
The Statista Global Consumer Survey 2020 selected respondents from 74 countries and Nigerian respondents were the most likely to say they used or owned cryptocurrency.

Nigeria ranked 32% higher than some citizens from countries even within the G7 with the United States, Germany and Japan with 6%, 5% and 4% respectively.
However, it was explicitly stated that respondents from each country were just about 1,000 to 4,000.
Meanwhile, Triple A, a Singapore financial company, noted that there are over 300 million crypto users worldwide with 13 million of them in Nigeria representing just 6.31% of the over 200 million population of the country.
Researchers can generalise if they meet up with a certain number of the sample size.
According to Worldometer, Nigeria currently has an estimated population of over 212,000,000 people. This means that using a meagre 1000 — 4000 respondents from Nigeria cannot be generalised.
Statista might have factors considered before arriving at a sample size but this is not enough to say 32 percent of Nigerians own Bitcoin. This number might be lesser or even more.
This report has been quoted several times in the past by different media houses including BBC Africa, Coin Desk and here. These reports have adequately confirmed that the figure represented the respondents of the survey, unlike Messing whom Jack quoted.
Conclusion
It cannot be authoritatively said that 32 percent of Nigerians own Bitcoin. Rather, 32 percent of Nigerians who partook in the survey conducted by Statista own or use Bitcoin.

The researcher produced this fact-check per the Dubawa 2021 Kwame KariKari Fellowship partnership with SaharaReporters to facilitate the ethos of “truth” in journalism and enhance media literacy in the country.

Plateau Governor Reintroduces Curfew In Jos Following Attacks By Fulani Herdsmen

The Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, has re-imposed a 24-hour curfew in the Jos North Local Government Area of the state following an isolated attack on Yelwa Zangam community where people were murdered and properties destroyed.
Suspected murderous Fulani herders, Tuesday night, invaded Yelwan Zangam and launched a deadly assault on the defeceless people situated in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

A resident of the area said vigilante members had reported recovering 37 bodies, with many of them burnt beyond recognition.
In a statement by the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor of Plateau State, Dr. Makut Simon Macham, obtained by SaharaReporters on Wednesday, Lalong revealed that the curfew would avail the security operatives to forestall the breakdown of law and order.
The statement reads, “Plateau State Government has reinstated the 24-hour curfew earlier relaxed in Jos North Local Government Area following growing tensions arising from the attack on Yelwa Zangam village of the Local Government where people were killed and properties destroyed.
“According to Governor Simon Lalong, the 24 hours will come into force from 4 pm, today Wednesday 25th August 2021 until further notice.
“The proactive decision became necessary following imminent threat to lives and properties within the Local Government Area and the need to forestall the breakdown of law and order. It will also enable security agencies to deploy appropriately to maintain security as the search for the attackers of the villagers continues.
According to the statement titled, ‘Plateau State Government Re-Imposes 24 Hour Curfew On Jos North LGA After Attack On Yelwa Zangam Village,’ the governor exempted medical personnel, journalists and others on essential duties from the curfew which kicks off from 4pm today.
“The Governor has appealed to the citizens of Jos North to cooperate with the Government by abiding by the 24-hour curfew commencing 4 pm, 25th August 2021, as security agencies have been mandated to ensure that those who violate the curfew are arrested.
“Also, the 6pm to 6am curfew in Jos South and Bassa LGAs still remains in place until further notice. Only people on essential duties such as health personnel, journalists, fire service and para-military and others, are to be exempted from the curfew but should carry means of identification with them at all times.
“The Governor is calling for calm as he is seriously grieved by the attacks. He again sympathises with the victims, but wants them to show restraint and allow Government to handle the matter to disallow hoodlums from taking advantage of the unfortunate situation to cause mayhem and destruction in the State,” the statement added.

E2%80%99s-anti-graft-agency-efcc-presents-wine-bottles-italian-whose-hotel-room-was SHAME: Nigeria’s Anti-graft Agency, EFCC Presents Wine Bottles To Italian Whose Hotel Room Was Invaded In Ibadan

In a move to atone for barging into peoples’ privacy, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has presented an “apology gift pack”, containing champagne wine bottles and other souvenirs to an Italian.
This was disclosed by the white man’s lawyer, Akeem Fadun, in a Facebook post.

The anti-graft agency made the gesture to the foreigner after invading his privacy and finding nothing incriminating to nail him.
According to Fadun, the unnamed Italian was apprehended by officers of the anti-graft body after they invaded his hotel room in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Monday.
He said, “Around 5am. on Monday, the door to his hotel room was thrown open with a loud thud, heavily armed men shouted at them to raise their hands and they were dragged out almost naked along with several others from the hotel and driven to the EFCC head office in Ibadan.”
The lawyer added that his client’s phone and belongings were searched by the operatives of the EFCC and after nothing was found, a gift was presented to compensate for the traumatic experience.
The apology “gift” contained two bottles of wine, an EFCC branded wall clock and a card apologising for their actions.
Meanwhile, the EFCC on Monday put out a statement saying it had arrested 37 people in Ibadan and Oyo State for Internet fraud.
On the same day, EFCC operatives reportedly invaded the Lekki residence of former Big Brother Naija housemate, Dorathy Bachor.
Dorathy had given an account of what transpired on Monday morning on her Instagram story.
Narrating the incident, Dorathy expressed frustration at how unsafe it is to be a Nigerian.
