E2%80%94church-defends-arrest-buhari-must-go ‘Dunamis Church Where Government Officials Reside’—Church Defends Arrest Of #Buhari-Must-Go Activists

Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Abuja has released a statement on the arrest of some youths wearing T-shirts branded with the inscription #BuhariMustGo during a church service on Sunday.

The church debunked the statement which claimed that the youths walked up to the altar as first-timers and were arrested by the church and handed over to the Department of State Services (DSS).

This was conveyed in a released statement tagged ‘Arrest and detention of protesters – the truth you need to know’, dated 6th July 2021, and signed by Dr. Ada Ochowechi.

The statement explained that after the youths departed the altar, they protested by blowing trumpets and saxophones right from the exit door of the church.

It said the protest was being live-streamed with the church building as the background.

It said, “The church holds three services every Sunday, and the Senior Pastor, Dr Paul Enenche preaches in all the services. After the sermon in the first service that Sunday, an altar call was made, to which many people came out, including the said youths. And nothing happened to them. No one questioned the legality or otherwise of the inscription on their T-shirts.

“However, soon after they departed from the altar, they swung into a protest with blowing trumpets and saxophones right from the exit door of the church. At the same time, the event was being covered and live-streamed with the background shots of the church building and those of the thronging crowd, both exiting and entering the sanctuary for the next service. The live streaming had the caption: BUHARI MUST GO Campaign Hits Dunamis Church in Abuja.”

The church management said it found the action of the activists intriguing for many reasons.

“No one knew who they were or where they came from. No one knew the organisation they represented as well as their ultimate agenda until the DSS apprehended them.

“No standard rule of engagement was followed as they sneaked into the church and swung into protest on a holy day of services.

“Moreover, the church is not an activism ground, but a centre for the projection of trust against all forms of evil. The church is non-political and non-partisan and thus, not an appropriate ground for political protest. It is not the seat of government where those being protested against reside.”

“As intriguing as it was to a common onlooker, so was it to members of undercover security on the premises for routine duties. Acting in their line of duty, the DSS officials arrested the protesters,” the church added.

However, human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore has described the church statement as false on so many levels.

He noted that Enenche and his wife, Becky, whom he, Deji Adeyanju, and lawyer, Marshal D. F. Abubakar met with on Monday are aware of the facts of the case.

Sowore stated that the youths did not protest inside the church, adding that Enenche attested to their orderly conduct during their two-hour-long meeting.

The activist said it was upon exiting the church auditorium that they started live-streaming on Facebook. He stressed that he was the one who shared the Livestream and added that “#BuhariMustGo hits Dunamis,” and not the activists.

He said it was the church security team that called the DSS and sent a white Hilux van accompanied by two power bikes to whisk them away.

“They were approached by the church security (team) and told to end the Livestream, they insisted it was their right and Emmanuel Larry told them he was a journo and maintained a respectful distance from the church security.

“They let them leave and the 10 activists got to the main road and five of the activists boarded a vehicle and left.

“While five others were waiting for a taxi, a new set of church security men wearing reflective jackets came and intercepted them and physically manhandled them and took them back into the church premises to their security post.

“They were forced to delete the two live videos. Church officials took some screenshots and even shared them with the media on Sunday (I believe they have the full videos retrieved from Emmanuel Larry’s phone).

“It was the church security team that called the DSS and they sent a white Hilux van accompanied by two power bikes to whisk them away. They’ve not been seen or heard from ever since,” Sowore added.

Ex-minister Kemi Adeosun Reacts To Court Judgement On National Youth Service Corps Certificate Saga

A former Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, has said the ruling of the Federal High Court that she could serve without the certificate of the National Youth Service Corps has vindicated her.

Taiwo Taiwo, a judge at the court in Abuja had granted a declaration that Adeosun cannot be subjected to any penalty or forfeiture in relation to her occupation or assumption due to her NYSC certificate.

Adeosun had tendered her resignation in 2018 following allegations that she tendered a forged NYSC certificate as part of her credentials.

The former minister in an originating, summons with suit number: FHC/ABJ/CS/303/2021 filed on March 11 by her lawyer, Wole Olanipekun (SAN) listed the Attorney General of the Federation as the sole defendant.

The court, however, was silent on its rulings regarding an allegation of forgery of certificate.

In a statement on Wednesday, the ex-minister said the ruling is a victory for Nigerians in the Diaspora under similar conditions who desire to serve the nation.

Adeosun, who said she went through a “very traumatic spell”, noted that the court had further reiterated her stand on the matter.

The statement read, “My lawyers have informed me of the judgment by the Federal High Court, Abuja, in the case of Folakemi Adeosun v The Attorney General of the Federation (FHC/ABJ/CS/303/2021) in which the court, presided over by Honourable Justice Taiwo Taiwo, ruled that the Constitution does not require me to present my first-degree certificate or any other certificate, including the NYSC certificate, to be appointed a Minister.

“More importantly, he also ruled that I was not eligible to perform NYSC by virtue of the constitution. This is the position I have always maintained and am happy for this official clarification.

“The ruling vindicates me after a very traumatic spell. It is, however, not only a personal victory; it’s also a victory for many Nigerians in the Diaspora under similar conditions who are desirous to serve their country.

“I wish to thank God, my family, friends, my counsel, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) and numerous well-wishers for their love, care and concern throughout this difficult period, which has lasted three whole years.

“I wish to add in the light of the court’s ruling, I will at the appropriate time and without hesitation, take all further steps necessary within the law to protect my reputation. I thank you all.”

Empty Barrel Makes The Loudest Noise, Nigerian Attorney General, Malami Insults Canadian Minister Over Kanu’s Abduction

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has lambasted Kelechi Madu for his comments after the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu.

Madu, the Minister of Justice and Solicitor-General of the Government of Alberta, Canada, attacked Malami over the repatriation of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader.

He called Malami a disgrace to the rule of law, and not worthy to be an officer of the court.

“He has shown himself to be a bigot who does not understand what it means to live in a pluralistic society governed by the dictates of the rule of law,” Madu’s statement read.

Malami Is A Disgrace To Rule Of Law, Nigerian-Canadian Minister Blasts Nigeria’s Attorney General Over Arrest, Detention Of Kanu

In a rejoinder on Wednesday, Malami called the Canadian state official ignoramus and eccentric, adding that his views are weird to the legal profession.

The AGF said it is unfortunate that Madu faulted the internationally recognised manner through which Kanu who jumped bail was re-arrested and brought back to face trial.

“It was abundantly clear that bench warrant was lawfully and judiciously procured through judicial process by a competent court of law, whose bail condition Nnamdi Kanu breached with impunity.

“There was no illegality in the entire process and the question of illegality does not even arise. It is a common principle of the law that he who comes to equity must come with clean hands,” Malami said.

Malami said Kanu has enjoyed representation by counsel of his choice and was never denied a right of choice of counsel or recourse to one, even when he symbolises a proscribed association (IPOB).

“Where was the so-called Madu when Nnamdi Kanu was inciting violence against the country? Why, as a lawyer, would Madu support a fugitive who jumped bail and accused of terrorism and treasonable felony? What stopped Madu from voicing out dissent on the atrocities of Kanu and their group?

“It is important to educate the likes of Keleche Madu that both Nigeria (his country of birth) and Canada (where he claims to be practising law) are signatories to the Multinational Treaty Agreement where, among others, fugitive fleeing justice in nations with similar agreement could be brought back to face justice.

“It is a pity that as a Solicitor General of a province, Madu failed to keep himself acquainted with the provisions of general laws of the country where he stays as well as international laws.

“We wish to draw the attention of Madu to the provisions of Consolidated Act Criminal Code under the Canadian Law R.S., C 1985, c. C-46:1-2 on Treason and other Offences vis:

“46(1) Every one commits high treason who, in Canada: (a) Kills or attempts to kill Her Majesty or does her any bodily harm tending to death or destruction, maims or wounds her, or imprisons or restrains her,

“(b) Levels war against Canada or does any act thereto; or (C) Assist an enemy at war with Canada or any armed forces against whom Canadian Forces are engaged in hostilities, whether or not a state of war exists between Canada and the country whose forces they are. 46(2) Every one commits treason who, in Canada (a) Use force or violence for the purpose of overthrowing the government of Canada or a province;

“(b) Without lawful authority, communicates or makes available to an agent of a state other than Canada, military or scientific information or any sketch, plan, model, article, note or document of a military or scientific character that he knows or ought to know may be used by that state for a purpose prejudicial to the safety of defence of Canada;

“(c) Conspires with any person to commit high treason or do anything mentioned in paragraph; (d ) Forms an intention to do anything that is high treason or that is mentioned in paragraph; (e) Conspires with any person to do anything mentioned in paragraph (b) or forms an intention to do anything mentioned in paragraph (b) and manifests intention by and overt act.”

Malami further derided Madu, saying “empty vessel makes loudest noise.”

“We advise the so-called ‘learned man’ to shelve his arrogance and learn to study the law books before opening his mouth to disgrace himself before the right thinking members of the society thereby attracting to himself criticism that may propel doubt about his suitability for the job he claims to be doing now, after moving out of his country of origin in which he fails to excel,” the reply concluded.

Trump Sues Twitter, Facebook, Google And Their CEOs

Former US President Donald Trump said he is filing class-action lawsuits against Facebook, Google, and Twitter and their executives, Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Dorsey, and Sundar Pichai respectively.

The former President alleged that they censor users.

Trump announced the suits during a press conference on Wednesday. Axios first reported the news.

The lawsuits, filed in the Southern District of Florida, come after Twitter and Facebook booted him over risks of violence following the January 6 insurrection. They’re an escalation from an ongoing war that the right waged against Big Tech, alleging that internet platforms censor conservative viewpoints.

“I’m filing as the lead class representative a major class-action lawsuit against the big tech giants, including Facebook, Google, and Twitter as well as their executives,” Trump said.

He said he’s asking the court to impose punitive damages on the tech companies, and said other lawsuits will likely follow, Business Insider reports.

“Our case will prove this censorship is unlawful, unconstitutional, and completely unAmerican,” he said.

The former President has threatened a vast number of lawsuits in recent decades, though very few actually get filed.

Facebook did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Twitter declined to comment

The pandemic, social unrest, and the 2020 presidential election presented mounting pressure from the public for social networks to tighten how they police content on their platforms.

Companies began cracking down on Trump’s posts in mid-2020 when Twitter added warning labels to his tweets questioning the legitimacy of mail-in voting for the 2020 presidential election.

He and other Republicans have increasingly criticised mainstream tech platforms for serving a liberal agenda and discriminating against conservative users, a belief that is not backed by evidence.

Data shows that right-wing content flourishes online. One group of NYU researchers said earlier this year that the right’s allegations of censorship are actually a form of disinformation.

Things only escalated when Twitter and Facebook suspended him over his role in the January 6 riot. Twitter banned him indefinitely, even if he decides to run for office in 2024, and Facebook said he would remain suspended until at least January 2023

Experts told Insider in January that that was within the companies’ legal power to do since “the First Amendment is a constraint on the power of government,” not on the private sector.

Alternative platforms to mainstream services have sprouted up as a byproduct to the right’s beef with Big Tech. Parler, a social media website with loose rules about what people can post, gained traction in late 2020 and quickly became praised by the right, with the likes of Republican Sen. Ted Cruz among its user base.

Dan Bongino, a Fox News host, said earlier in July that he’s developing a payment platform for conservatives after Stripe and PayPal banned Trump over his role in the January 6 riot. He told the Washington Post that “Stripe is our target here” and that his AlignPay service is designed to combat “cancel culture.”

Most recently, a former Trump aide unveiled a new social media app called GETTR that looks suspiciously like Twitter. Many of its users, largely Trump allies, were hacked on Sunday, the day the service officially launched.

Police Detain Young Man Who Lures Women With Fake Job Vacancies, Rapes and Tortures Them In Lagos

A young man identified as Kingsley Onuorah has been arrested and detained by police officers at the Ojo Police Station in Lagos State for luring unsuspecting women with fake job vacancies.

It was gathered that Onuorah who works at Alaba International Market as a manager with one of the mobile phones outfits, ITEL, advertised vacant positions and consequently lured applicants to his apartment to submit their Curriculum Vitae.

One of the Operating Officers of the Advocates for Children and Vulnerable Peoples Network noted that Onuorah had deployed a tactic to deceive applicants that a Human Resources representative would come to his house for the CV.

In the process, however, Onuorah will allegedly lock up his victim, preventing them from going home and subjecting them to rape and torture for days to his satisfaction.

His cover was blown after he met his last victim, a 23-year-old lady, whose sister was resilient in ensuring her return.

Onuorah is now in the custody of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligent Department (SCIID), Panti, Yaba.

The ACVPN officer said, “Kingsley Onuorah is a manager with ITEL, one of the mobile phone outfits in Alaba International Market Branch.

“Kingsley is a sociopath who specialises in luring vulnerable women and young girls. He advertises vacant positions and applicants are asked to come with their CV which happens to be his apartment.

“Whenever the applicants query why the location for submission is his house, he would quickly tell them the HR representative would come to his house and pick up the CV.

“He takes advantage of them by sexually molesting the women and young girls.

“The last survivor he did the same to is a 23-year-old woman whom he lured to his apartment. He made her cook noodles, he then raped her and kept her for five days.

“Thank God for the survivor’s sister who was very resilient and determined to get back her missing sister and it paid off.

“He was arrested by the officers from Ojo Police Station. Kingsley initially denied setting his eyes on the survivor, but when his phone was properly checked, the missing lady’s nude picture was found in the phone.

“Other women’s nude pictures were also there. This was how Kingsley broke down and he admitted the survivor was in his custody.

”She was found inside Kingsley’s apartment. He’s presently with the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti.

“Kingsley’s relatives have offered the survivor’s guardian N150,000 to withdraw the matter but the no-nonsense OC Gender Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, SCID, Panti has insisted that justice must prevail.”

E2%80%94-oluwo-gives-reason-monarchs Igboho, Other Yoruba Nation Agitators Insulted Monarchs — Oluwo Gives Reason For Monarchs’ Silence On Igboho’s House Raid

The Oluwo of Iwo, ?ba Abdul-Rasheed Akanbi, has explained the reason for the silence of Yoruba monarchs over the raid on the house of Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Adeyemo, aka  Sunday Igboho by operatives of the Department of State Services.
Last Thursday, members of the DSS invaded Igboho’s Soka residence, during which two persons were killed and 13 arrested.

The secret police also declared Igboho wanted and the agitator had since gone underground.

But, in an interview with BBC Yoruba, Oluwo gave reasons for the palpable silence of his colleagues.

According to him, many monarchs kept silent over the DSS raid on Igboho’s home because he earlier abused some respected traditional rulers that could easily defend him against “external attacks”.

He stated that many of the monarchs were in support of Igboho’s agitation against killer herdsmen but the Yoruba rights activist ignored some of their warnings.

He said Igboho was cautioned by monarchs about the manner he was agitating for Yoruba Nation but he failed to adjust.

He also accused Igboho and other agitators of the Yoruba Nation of not consulting with Yoruba monarchs properly.

He opined that the fight for the Yoruba Nation will be more productive with the inputs of the traditional rulers.

Oluwo, who spoke in Yoruba, said, “They forgot that the king superintends over everything and government has a duty to secure its citizens.

“The government cannot fold its hands again and allow a repeat of what happened during #EndSARS.

“We must be diplomatic with our demands. We cannot get our demand by fighting the government. Instead, we can negotiate and dialogue with the government.”

E2%80%94lawyer British High Commission Replied Nnamdi Kanu’s Letter, Pledges Consular Protection—Lawyer

Nnamdi Kanu

The British High Commission in Nigeria has acknowledged the receipt of the letter written on behalf of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, seeking its support as a British citizen, SaharaReporters has gathered.

In the acknowledgement letter sent to Kanu’s counsel, Aloy Ejimakor on Tuesday, 6th July, 2021, the British authorities guaranteed the protection of Kanu’s welfare.

Nnamdi Kanu

Ejimakor said the letter specifically stated that Kanu will get “support and welfare” of the British authorities.

Recall that Kanu through Ejimakor petitioned the British High Commission, requesting “That Mr Kanu be granted every possible Consular Assistance to which he is entitled as a British citizen.”

When SaharaReporters contacted Barrister Ejimakor, he confirmed receipt of such a letter but said that its contents are confidential.

In his own words, Ejimakor said, “Yesterday I received a response from the British High Commission acknowledging the receipt of the letter and telling me what they (British authorities) can do for Kanu as a British citizen.

“The content of the letter is highly confidential so I can’t say more than that. I understand the public has a right to know the development but I cannot reveal all the content which is key to our strategy.”

When asked about Kanu’s health conditions, the legal practitioner stated that “They (Nigerian government) have not allowed him to see his doctors. They brought doctors through DSS (Department of State Services) but his health condition is beyond that. It requires him to see his special medical doctor because of the seriousness of his health issues.”

The lawyer went on to say, “Even the British authorities know that only a suspect that is physically fit can stand trial, so they are going to see to his welfare.

“As his lawyers, we have to make sure he gets all his entitlements under the law. He is entitled to administrative or judicial bail regardless of the degree of his offence.

“But if he’s denied, we’ll take it from there. But we believe that based on the doctrine of presumptions of innocence, everybody is entitled to bail until they are proven otherwise.”

Police Arrest Fake Road Transport Workers’ Union Boss Who Infected Over 12 Women With HIV

File photo used to illustrate story.

Bolaniran Orimolade, a man who infected his wife, stepdaughter, and several other women with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) has been arrested by the police.
This was disclosed by Ebenezer Omejalile, the Chief Operating Officer Of Advocates for Children and Vulnerable Peoples Network.

File photo used to illustrate story.

According to Omejalile, the suspect, who is also known as Bola Bebo, was a self-acclaimed chairman of the Iyana Iba motor part and had boasted that he was above the law.
Omejalile noted that Orimolade had not only infected his wife with HIV but also defiled his stepdaughter and equally infected her with HIV.
Ebenezer noted that there were 12 other women that Orimolade had intentionally infected with HIV.
He said, “He does it with so much impunity without any form of remorse, he was arrested several times but buys his way out and goes after his victims and makes life a living hell for them.
“His latest atrocity was on his wife Mrs Bolaniran, who after infecting her with HIV, he domestically abused. He also sexually molested his stepdaughter who is now living with HIV.
“Efforts to get Bolaniran arrested by Igando Police Station proved abortive initially.
“It’s also on record that Mrs Bolaniran had two identical twins, both males who were born with HIV courtesy of their father’s status.
“Mrs. Bolaniran couldn’t bear the trauma of humiliation her husband subjected her and her children to, so she moved out to seek refuge in a church.
“Ever since she moved out of the apartment, Bolaniran has been going to the church to cause trouble.”
According to Omejalile, Bolaniran has been arrested and transferred to the Gender Anti-human trafficking unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligent Department (SCIID), Panti, following his arrest.
“Our findings on Bolarinan showed that he was once jailed for 10 years, which makes him an ex-convict,” he added.
Meanwhile, the National Union of Road Transport Workers has disowned Bolaniran, stating that he was never a registered member of the union.
The Lagos State Secretary of the union, Oluwaseyi Bankole stated this while reacting to a story making rounds that the Lagos Police command had arrested one Bolaniran Orimolade, an HIV-positive patient who has been going round the city, raping and infecting people with the dreaded disease.
Disowning the suspect, Bankole stated that the suspect who was said to be operating at Iyana Iba Motor Park is not a member of the Union as according to him, the Lagos NURTW does not operate at the said park.
He said, “The man is not a member of our union. As a matter of fact, our union does not operate at Iyana Iba Motor Park. The park in question is operated by another union. NURTW is made up of law-abiding citizens, hence our members will not engage in criminal activities.
“We have a database of our registered members, from units to state and the national headquarters of union, and these members are known to be above board in all their dealings.”
