BREAKING: Boko Haram Fighters Burn UN Facilities In Borno, Attack Workers

The Boko Haram fighters, in a fresh wave of attacks, invaded Damasak town in Borno State on Saturday, setting fire on United Nations facilities and forcing humanitarian workers to flee for their lives.
SaharaReporters learnt that the terrorists, aided by their deadlier Islamic State West African Province fighters, set fire to the UN office and to at least three other international charity organisations contiguous to the UN facility.

“The terrorists came into the town in gun trucks. They first embarked on a looting spree. They carted away aid supplies meant for the Internally Displaced Persons before they set fire to the UN hub in the town and three other buildings belonging to other aid organisations,” a source in the town narrated.
A military source confirmed the Saturday attack on Damasak but said the troops were fighting hard to ensure that the terrorists did not overrun the town.
“They planned to attack the military base first, but we repelled the invasion. Pockets of them then went to the UN facility. The Nigerian Air Force aircraft have been called in and they are currently engaging in air interdictions on the terrorists,” he stated.UN facilities are becoming increasingly threatened in the North-East.
On March 1, ISWAP jihadists overran a UN hub in Dikwa, killing six civilians and forcing aid workers to retreat from the town despite urgent humanitarian needs temporarily.
On March 15, the fighters had attacked Damasak, the headquarters of the Mobbar Local Government Area of Borno.
The United Nations is yet to react to the latest assault on its facility in the state.

PDP Zonal Congress Ends In Chaos As Thugs Snatch Ballot Boxes

Thugs on Saturday disrupted the North-West congress of the Peoples Democratic Party held at the Kaduna International Trade fair complex.

The PDP North West comprises seven states: Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Jigawa, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara.

There are two top contenders, Senator Bello Hayatu Gwarzo from Kano State and Muhammad Jamo Yusuf, from Kano State.

However, it was gathered that Gwarzo is being supported by the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aminu Wali, who is leading a faction of the party in Kano State. Muhammad Jamo Yusuf, also from Kano, is being supported by a former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who is also leading a party’s faction in Kano.

A source told Nigerian Tribune that some former and current governors are also behind Gwarzo, saying that he seems to be the choice from all indication.

He said, “Voting has gone far. I think four states have cast their votes when some miscreants stormed the venue and went straight to the boxes and destroyed them.”

He stated that the thugs, suspected to be sponsored by one of the aspirants, destroyed the boxes and other materials like the ballot papers, including those already cast.

The party has not commented on the development as of the time this report was filed.

However, the police spokesman in the state, Muhammad Jalige, said the situation was under control as the police have restored peace and order.

Lawyer Of Security Guard Petitions Human Rights Commission Over Assault By CCT Chairman

Samuel Ihensekhien, lawyer to Clement Sagwak, a security guard recently assaulted in Abuja, has dragged the embattled Code of Conduct Tribunal Chairman (CCT), Umar Danladi, before the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).

In a petition dated April 6, 2021, and addressed to the NHRC’s secretary, the lawyer accused the CCT Chairman of abuse of power, assault, torture and xenophobia.

The petition, obtained by SaharaReporters, enunciated the unruly action and unprofessional conduct of Danladi, which attracted the attention of passersby and sympathizers who came to rescue the security guard from him.

The lawyer explained how the CCT boss was bent on intimidating anybody who attempts to give information on the matter.

Ihensekhien noted that the petition against the CCT Chairman was one of the many legal actions to be taken to get justice for the assaulted security guard.

He added that he had concluded plans to file more suit in a court of competent jurisdiction to get justice for the victim.

Danladi was, on March 29, 2021, spotted in a now-viral video assaulting the security guard for asking him to repark his car appropriately.

With Your Human Rights Abuses, You Can’t Get Help From US, Campbell Tells Buhari Government

John Campbell

A former United States Ambassador to Nigeria, John Campbell, has said the Nigerian government may never receive any financial or technical assistance from the US and its allies in its fight against insecurity until the federal government addresses human rights abuses by the security forces in the country.
He stated this on Friday during a virtual conference on the maiden edition of ‘Grow Nigeria Conversation’ with the theme, ‘Reversing the Flourishing Economy of Kidnapping and Banditry: Immediate & Long-term Solutions’ monitored by SaharaReporters.

John Campbell

Campbell said the US laws prohibited the American government from giving technical expertise to any country whose security forces are accused of human rights violations.
He urged the Buhari-led government to ensure it restores public confidence and trust in the security forces, especially the police.
He said, “Under the United States law, we are prohibited from providing any technical expertise for security forces accused of human rights abuses.
“Human rights abuses are a massive barrier to a more cordial relationship between the US and the Nigerian security forces. And we know that addressing this barrier is a complex issue.
“There could be financial support to help build up the security forces; there could also be a transfer of technologies. If human rights abuses were to go away, the possibility of a deeper relationship is possible.”
Speaking on the amnesty granted to bandits, Campbell said it is illegal and would not bring a solution to the problem.
He said, “Payment of ransom is illegal in the United States, but it could be extremely unpopular, particularly to those close to the victims of kidnapping. It is also illegal in Nigeria but common in the country.”
On his part, a US Africa policy expert, Matthew Page, said the Nigerian military’s unwillingness to accept international military cooperation is a major hindrance to Nigeria accessing help, in the fight against insecurity, from the outside world.
He, however, noted that seeking international assistance was not the way out for Nigeria but that ending impunity and holding security forces accountable would achieve more gains for the country.

Hoodlums Kill Woman In Lagos On Husband’s Birthday, Use Her Phone To Inform Parents Of Attack

Armed hoodlums in the Ketu area of Lagos State stabbed Oluwakemi Odugbesan, a mother of three, to death while trying to rob her of her mobile phone and handbag.
The 41-year-old victim from Ogun State, who was returning home from a church vigil, was attacked a few minutes past 6:00 am, at Oduntan where she lived with her three children and parents.

Minutes after carrying out the heinous act, one of the attackers used the victim’s mobile phone to call her mother’s number to inform her of the lady’s killing.
The victim, who is the first of her parent’s five children, was stabbed three times in the chest, including around the heart and twice on her ribs and back.
According to a report by AF24news, Odugbesan was thereafter rushed to Azir Hospital on Oduntan Street by some of her relatives and neighbours, where she was pronounced dead.
The case was reported at the Ketu Police Station by family members of the victim, who have remained distraught since the tragic incident.
Odugbesan was killed on her husband’s birthday. The man has remained inconsolable.
The two of them were weeks away from relocating to Canada when Odugbesan’s life was brutally cut short.
The entire Ketu community has been in a panic since the tragic incident. Once one of the safest places in Ketu, Oduntan Street and its environs have in recent times become among the most dangerous places in Lagos primarily due to the menace of armed hoodlums, who waylay and attack residents heading out early in the morning or returning home at night.
In recent weeks, over ten persons have been brutally attacked by armed hoodlums at the junction of the area in the process of being robbed in the early hours of the day.
The community’s efforts to get security agencies to tackle attacks on residents by hoodlums have failed to yield any positive result.
The situation has forced many people to move out of the area to other parts of the city.
It was, however, gathered that the Commissioner of Police in Lagos, Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered a thorough investigation into the killing.

Professor Ango Abdullahi Defends Northern Nonsense! By Bayo Oluwasanmi

Prof Ango Abdullahi

Speaking at the First Northern People’s Summit held at Arewa House on Wednesday, Professor Ango Abdullahi, chair, Northern Elders Forum (NEF) said: “We must send a message to people who are bent on assaulting and killing our people that they are treading on very dangerous path, and they must stop. The North has paid a huge price for the survival and unity of Nigeria. We do not see secession as a solution for any grievance, and strongly advise our national leadership to take these threats with all the seriousness they deserve.”
Abdullahi, churns out gibberish all the time in defensex of northern nonsense. Who are the people killing Fulanis? What did Fulanis sacrifice to preserve the unity of Nigeria? What did Fulanis contribute to the progress and prosperity of Nigeria? What huge price paid by Fulanis to keep Nigeria united? Truth be told, Fulanis are the ones going around the country butchering innocent people. They are the Boko Haram terrorists. They are the herdsmen terrorists. Fulanis are the greatest obstacle to the unity and stability of Nigeria.
Fulanis are the only ethnic group taking everything and contribute nothing to the federal purse. Fulanis monopolized all positions in federal appointments and employments in ministries, corporations, and institutions. Fulanis had ruled for over 40 years out of 60 years of our independence. As I write, we are yet to recover all the Abacha loot stashed away in foreign banks.
Yorubas give land to Fulanis to farm. We welcome them into our space with open arms. We shower them with love. We care for them. We tolerate them. We accommodate them. For all our generosity, kindness, compassion, and civility, they kill, rape, maim, kidnap, and uproot our people from their homes.

Prof Ango Abdullahi

Every time the issue of break up is raised, Fulanis become jittery, uncomfortable, restless, angry, defensive, irrational, guilty, and helpless. They run around like a headless hen. No one is surprised that Abdullahi and his Fulani emirate are against self-determination. They know they are the big loser should Nigeria break up. They know they can’t survive as a nation on their own. They know they don’t have what it takes to build a nation. They can’t make it alone!
Abdullahi’s statements portray him as an extreme eccentric, recklessly impetuous, and highly irresponsible. How can Abdullahi talk of unity and peace without justice? He blames victims of Fulani victimization. He defends Fulani terrorists. He sees nothing wrong the way Fulanis are running and ruining the country. As long as a Fulani controls the center, all is well with Nigeria and Nigerians.
Abdullahi and the Fulanis are not ready for revolutionary transformation of Nigeria because it will sweep away their hegemony. Inaction is no more an option for Yorubas. Our freedom, liberty, and liberation are not negotiable. Oduduwa Nation is our option. There’s nothing the Ango Abdullahi’s of the world can say or do to prevent the break up of Nigeria. The signs are all over the place. It’s coming. Nigeria is on the brink. It’s imminent. It’s inevitable!

According to Daily Trust, the District Head of Sarkin Zama and several others sustained gunshot injuries and are currently on admission at various health facilities in Kuta, the Shiroro local government’s headquarters.
The bandits had gone on a rampage in the communities, burning down houses and barns where yams and grains were stored.
Sources also said that the bandits invaded the communities in large numbers on motorcycles, shooting sporadically.
Some of the residents of Shiroro local government said the bandits had developed a new operation model which includes barricading roads and laying ambush for road users who occasionally go to their homes to fetch some foodstuffs for their upkeep.
Recently, they embarked on setting houses on fire.
The bandits’ activities have heightened due to the non-presence of security personnel in the local government area.
The Shiroro Youths Association co-convener, Yusuf Abubakar Kokki, confirmed the incident and called for “urgent and concerted” efforts by the government and individuals to address the insecurity in the council.
