Dickson Okechukwu, father of an 11-year-old girl, Favour, who was recently gang-raped in Lagos, has narrated how he found her corpse in a building on Olarewaju Street, Ejigbo, after a frantic search for her.
Favour, a Junior Secondary School student, was sent on an errand to buy a carton of gala for her mother around 3:00pm on Wednesday.
The deceased was said to have been lured into a building on Olarewaju Street where four men took turns to rape her.
She was suspected to have been gaged in the process, apparently to avoid raising the alarm.
Her devastated father described her as a brilliant girl.

He said, “She’s my daughter, she’s very brilliant. She’s a girl that has future but unfortunately some hoodlums cut her life short. The incident happened on Wednesday 30th of September.
“She prepared for school in the morning, promising to meet me later in the day. I also went out for my business.
“But when I came back around 9:00pm, I was shocked when my wife said Favour hadn’t returned from where she was to collect a carton of the gala because it was unusual of her to stay long outside. I immediately went to some of her classmates houses to look for her but they all said they didn’t see her. Her classmates parents too joined us and we started searching for her. I started walking like a mad man, asking everyone I saw about her whereabout and it was getting dark.
“I saw a man who lives on the same street with me and told him I was looking for my daughter. He informed me that he had to close early because a little girl was raped to death in a building close to his shop. He said the incident had caused panic in the area. I decided to go and check since I was looking for my daughter and he accompanied me to the building.
“So when I got to the compound, I met three people and told them what I heard. They were speaking Yoruba, so I didn’t really understand them, they pointed the room where the incident happened to me and behold, when I got there, it was my daughter, Favour! She was naked with blood all over her body. I shouted, shook her vigorously as I called out her name, begging her to wake up.”
Though the suspects are still at large, Brimcewil Tabi, owner of the room in which Favour was gang-raped, has been arrested and claimed he knew those who perpetrated the act.

BREAKING: One Dead As APC, PDP Supporters Clash Again In Ondo Ahead Of Governorship Election
A yet-to-be identified man has been killed in Ondo State as supporters of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressives Congress and Eyitayo Jegede, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, again clashed ahead of the October 10 governorship election in the state.
SaharaReporters gathered that the supporters of Akeredolu, who is seeking reelection, and Jegede engaged in a scuffle at Oba Nla area of Akure, the state capital, on Saturday night.
The incident also left several persons injured while many vehicles were vandalised during the confrontation.
Both PDP and APC have accused each other for causing the violence.
The incident happened barely two weeks after eight people were injured in a clash between supporters of both parties.
A car was also burnt in the clash that occurred at Oba Akoko, Akoko South-West Local Government Area of the state.

Group Asks Nigerian Government To Scrap ‘SARS’ Over Brutality On Citizens
A civil society organisation, Centre for Advancement of Civil Liberties and Development, has called on the Nigerian Government to scrap the Special Anti-Robbery Squad over unwarranted brutality and abuse of Nigerian youth.
The group expressed dismay on how the squad legitimately constituted to combat crime and ensure the safety of the people now turned itself to agent of terror.
In a statement jointly signed by the Co- conveners, Adebayo Raphael, Ariyo-Dare Atoye and Deji Adeyanju, on Sunday, the group said the squad had constituted itself as threat to the safety of the Nigerian people.
The statement reads, “We have watched with disdain, the several clips of SARS brutality on different social media platforms and how the operatives of this unit constituted to combat crime and ensure the safety of the people have now become agents of brutality, terror and unwarranted and horror.
“In line with chapter II, Section 14 (2)(b) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, it is clear to us and the majority of Nigerians that this police unit has failed to prioritize the security of the Nigerian people, but has rather become a bane to our nation’s security and a monstrous threat to the safety of the Nigerian people.
“It is on this basis that we declare, therefore, that the Federal Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria must act immediately and decisively to shut down this unit of the Nigeria Police Force and ensure that it henceforth ceases to exist in our country.”

CFL also demanded the immediate and unconditional release of all innocent citizens, who have been unjustly incarcerated by this unit and compensate them accordingly.
The statement also urged the government to order an independent inquiry into the activities of SARS operatives in the last one year and punish any and every operative found guilty of extortion, abuse of citizens rights and execution or killing of any innocent citizen within the said timeframe.
“Our hope is that the Federal Government will side with the Nigerian people, and not this rogue unit terrorizing Nigerians with unbridled impunity.
“The Nigeria Police Force can only become an institution that protects the Nigerian people when it is free of anti-people and anti-democratic elements like the operatives in the SARS unit,” the statement added.

Ban On Security Checkpoints Along Kaduna-Abuja Highway Enforced
Following complaints by citizens on the alleged mounting of checkpoints on Kaduna-Abuja Highway by some security personnel, the Kaduna State Security Council has announced that its decision of September 4, 2019 prohibiting checkpoints was still in force.
The council had last year made the decision, notifying citizens of it’s plan to ban checkpoints along the popular highway and other routes.
“Any person or group of persons observed to be manning checkpoints along these routes at any time must be considered as carrying out illegal operations and must be treated as such.
“Road users are strictly warned not to show compliance with any checkpoint on this route at this time,” the council said.
A statement issued and signed by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs in Kaduna State, Mr Samuel Aruwan, advised citizens to report any violation of this directive to Security Operation Centre.
SaharaReporters learnt that the decision to ban the security checkpoints was borne out of series of complaint and suspicion of conspiracy between security agents and bandits operating along the Kaduna-Abuja Highway.

#ENDSARS: Again, Nigerians Call For Scrapping Of SARS Over Killing Of Youths
Nigerians have again called for the scrapping of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police Force following fresh extrajudicial killings of Nigerian youth.
The renewed call came on Saturday with youths and rights organisations urging the police and the government to scrap the unit.
Youths on social media also called for total rejection and reprisal against the unlawful activities of SARS operatives with the hashtag #WarOnSars.
Different Nigerians shared video clips showing how SARS operatives illegally arrest, extort and kill youths at will.
One of such video was how SARS offcials in Delta State shot a youth and left with his vehicle, leaving him for the dead.
Another video showed police walking up to a man in a gas station and arresting him.
@GlorYBaee revealed how SARS arrested his teenage cousin for having a white girl’s picture on his phone.
She explained that the family paid N35,000 to get the cousin freed.
“SARS just picked up my 19-year-old cousin, someone that just stepped out to cut his hair. #EndSARS.
“They stopped him and searched his phone, found a white girl’s picture he saved from Facebook. That was his offence. They’re asking for N50,000 bail. He’s in Bayelsa State CID. They’ve released him on N35,000 bail,” she shared on Twitter.
Prominent Nigerians also joined in the call for the end of the exhibition of lawlessness and impunity by SARS officials.
@APOSTLESULEMAN said, “SARS should be proscribed. They are a disgrace to the police. They are worst than the criminals they claim to be against. Their trigger-happy nature has rendered mothers childless, sent youths on premature extinction, wasted destinies, they will reap what they sow.”
Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, said SARS had derailed from the purpose of its establishment and had become an oppressor.
He said, “The Special Anti-Robbery Squad unit of the @PoliceNG was set up to confront violent crimes such as armed robbery, kidnapping and other related crimes. “However, the unit has today morphed into an oppressor of the Nigerian masses who strive every day for a better life.
“Reports of intimidation, harassment and outright extortion by officers of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad have continued unabated.
“I strongly condemn their cruel actions against our people, and I urge the government to rise to the occasion and nip this monstrosity in the bud with the seriousness it deserves.
“It is expedient that the activities of SARS are reviewed to ensure that the rogue elements are excised from the unit and sanity returned to its operations.”
Former Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Joe Abah, also knocked the government for keeping mum over the “nefarious activities” of SARS officials.
“Is it that the @NigeriaGov and the @PoliceNG are not aware of the nefarious activities of SARS or that they support it? I don’t understand. #EndSARS,” Abah asked.

@iSlimfit said, “I remember when they said #EndSARS was just an unnecessary social media noise of attention seeking people. Until victims started supporting their claims with video evidence. I wonder if @MBuhari, @ProfOsinbajo and co would claim they’ve never seen these videos!”

#JusticeForFavour Trends After 11-year-old Girl Is Raped To Death In Lagos
Nigerians on Twitter are demanding justice for the rape and murder of an 11-year-old girl, Favour Okechukwu, by some unknown people in an abandoned building at Olarewaju Street, Ejigbo, Lagos State.
The hashtag #JusticeForFavour during the weekend trended on Twitter, seeking justice for the victim.
It was gathered that Favour was sent on an errand to buy a carton of gala for her mother but did not return until her corpse was found.
The father, John Okechukwu, it was learnt, searched everywhere for the little girl and eventually found her body on Thursday at the abandoned building.
On Twitter, many Nigerians expressed concern about government’s failure to tackle gender-based violence. “#JusticeforFavour. Some men are wicked and evil! May the perpetrators of this evil act be brought to book,” @Dymphna_O posted.
Another tweet by @BlesssingSamuel reads, “#JusticeforFavour. She’s too small, let’s stop. Never occured? All I can imagine right now is the other saying “Do fast make I do my own” while this little girl lay there shaken, frightened, in severe pain as they devour her tiny private part until she could breathe no more.”
For @AzeezatOlaoluwa, the time she was sent out by her parents should not justify her being raped to death
“Parents had no reason to fear for their kids’ safety. What do we have now? It’s just sad. #JusticeforFavour,” she said.
Another user, @chubby_zi wrote, “11-year-old Favour was gang-raped to death. What do we have to do to be taken seriously, who are those against the castration law #JusticeforFavour #JusticeforFavour.”
Activists in Nigeria have been calling on the government to deal more effectively with rapists through the strict enforcement of existing laws and promulgation of tougher sanctions.
In May, a 100-level student of the University of Benin, Uwaila Omozuwa, was raped and killed inside a church in Benin City, Edo State.
A week later, Barakat Bello, an 18-year-old student of the Federal College of Animal and Production Technology, Moore Plantation, Apata, Ibadan, Oyo State, also suffered the same fate.
Also in June, three armed men gang-raped a 17-year-old street hawker at the Oja-Oba Market, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

This timeline contradicts Trump’s announcement about his positive diagnosis, which was no more than 35 hours ago.

A source is quoted as saying, “The President’s vitals over the last 24 hours were very concerning and the next 48 hours will be critical in terms of his care. We’re still not on a clear path to a full recovery,” New York Times reports.

“They were also allegedly planning to kill FFK and evidence was provided. FFK insisted that all charges should be dropped and forgave them both. Even treated the young man with kindness and ensured that no one beat or attacked him after they were caught. The young man’s parents and family have been offering deliverance prayers for the navy officer since because they know that Precious is an evil destroyer.”

He said she was diagnosed as having ‘acute bi-polar disorder and syzchoprehnia’.
“The psychiatrist in whose hospital Precious was admitted for just under one month for mental health care and treatment was Dr Udenze who is a highly respected doctor and who has hospitals in both the UK and Nigeria. The doctor that referred her to the hospital recommended her admission and treated her as an out patient after she was released by FFK against doctor’s orders was Dr Bose Ominiyi of National Hospital, Abuja,” he said.
Recall that Fani-Kayode, who was earlier in the news for his verbal assault on a journalist, recently separated from Precious, his fourth wife, after six years of marriage.

The former minister, who has a hat-trick of marriages before meeting Precious with whom he has four sons including a set of two-year-old triplets, accused her of infidelity.
Sources told SaharaReporters that the former minister started physically abusing the ex-beauty queen from the first year of their marriage, the same fate that befell her predecessors.
The violence, it was gathered, increased as the years went by.
FFK, as the ex-minister is often reffered to, was said to have ordered Precious to abort her last pregnancy, claiming it did not belong to him.
The sources said Precious ignored him but got savage beating including on her belly for the recalcitrance.
A source said Fani-Kayode always hit the woman violently in the presence of their homehelps and sometimes threatened her with a gun by sticking the weapon in her mouth to warn her against squealing.
He sometimes instructed his bodyguard to hit the ex-beauty queen.
Fani-Kayode’s first wife, Saratu Attah, whom he married when he was 22, was also regularly pummeled by him.
Sources said the woman, daughter of the late Adamu Attah, was viciously beaten for requesting a swimming pool in their home on Marine Road in Apapa, Lagos. FFK’s next marriage was to Yemisi Odesanya, daughter of a judge.
She is now known as Yemisi Wada after remarrying.
In newspaper interviews, the woman told stories of Fani-Kayode’s viciousness and lack of care for their daughters, the reason for which he was excluded from the marriage of one of them, Temitope, in 2014.

Election: Suspected Political Thugs Being Kept At Ondo Hotel, Group Alleges
The Rule of Law And Accountability Advocacy Centre has raised the alarm over the presence of suspected political thugs at Sunview Hotel, Alagbaka, Akure, Ondo State, ahead of the governorship election in the state on October 10.
RULAAC stated that the suspected thugs had been at the place for about a week.
The group, acting as independent election observers for the governorship election, said the suspected thugs do not look like regular lodgers and appeared suspicious in their outlook and mannerism.
“There are some people lodged at Sunview Hotel, Alagbaka, Akure, for about a week and probably for the next one week.
“They don’t look like regular lodgers. They look suspicious with their mannerisms, outlook and appearances as political thugs, probably kept there for next Saturday’s governorship election. They are mostly lodged at the extension of the hotel,” RULAAC said.
The group urged the police and other security agencies to send a surveillance team to the hotel as a preemptive measure to ensure violence was curtailed before it starts.
Recall that the election campaign has been marred by violence with over 10 incidences recorded by observers and the media.
Yiaga Africa, a non-governmental organisation, has highlighted Akure South, Akoko South-East, Idanre, Owo and Akoko South-West as the local government areas with a high incidence and indicators of violence.
The group predicted that the continued outbreak of violence before the election could lead to a decline in voter turnout during election.
