IFC, Union Bank to support Nigerian SMEs, others

The international Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, yesterday announced a $25 million local-currency investment in a risk-sharing facility to expand Union Bank’s lending to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria. The facility, which will cover as much as 50 per cent of the risk of the bank’s loans to entrepreneurs, aims to help Nigerian businesses grow and create jobs. Analysts attribute Q4’19 growth to CBN’s policies

As reactions continue to trail the Q4’19 Gross Domestic Product (GDP) report released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Monday, analysts at Financial Derivatives Company Ltd (FDC) have attributed the growth recorded by the Nigerian economy, during the period, to Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) measures to boost lending to the private sector, especially the apex bank’s Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR) policy. Justice D.V. Agishi of Federal High Court, Enugu, yesterday sentenced a former Relationship Manager with a bank in Enugu, Onyekachi Nwosu, to 18 years imprisonment on a six-amended-count charge.
