Nothing secret, sinister about us — Ogboni Fraternity

Leader of the Reformed Ogboni Fraternity (ROF), Chief Francis Meshioye, has again debunked public perception that the fraternity was a secret society.
Addressing newsmen in Lagos during flag off of 2019 Founders’ Day Celebration of ROF, Meshioye, said there was nothing sinister in the activities of the fraternity.
“We are far from being a secret society; we are a registered entity that abides with the laws of the land and our objectives are to promote positive values, truth, justice and cultural heritage,” he said.

Mane’s side have fared far better than Sarr’s in the Premier League this term, with the Reds in first place and Watford propping up the table in last place.

Bus crushes three pupils in Ekiti

A mini-bus fondly called ‘Akoto’ killed three pupils in Ado Ekiti, on Friday.
The incident occurred on the day the primary and secondary school students vacated for Christmas and new year’s festivities across the state.
The incident occurred at about 2.30 pm at Ilokun, a farmstead along  Ado -Iworoko road.
An eyewitness reliably confirmed that the pupils were returning home from school and were about crossing the Ado-Iworoko-Ifaki highway when the vehicle, which was coming from Ekiti State University (EKSU)  ran into them.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress APC in Rivers state, Prince Tonye Princewill has slammed the state governor, Barr. Nyesom Wike for threatening sanctions against the Amanyanabo of Kalabari Kingdom, King Theophilus J.T Princewill, Amachree XI, over the visit of the Bayelsa state Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson to the kingdom in April this year.
This was as Gov. Dickson explained his visit to the kingdom, saying he was there to commiserate with the families of Ijaw people who lost their lives in the 2019 general elections.

Building collapse: LASG pulls down two distressed buildings in Island, saves over 100 lives

Prompt intervention by inter-ministerial efforts of the Lagos State Government has saved the lives of over100 occupants of two certified distressed buildings, when it pulled down the life-threatening structures located at number 54 and 52, Gbamgbose Street, Lagos Island respectively, on Friday evening.
The exercise, it was gathered, became necessary, in order to prevent building collapse incidence and attendant possible loss of lives and properties.
The buildings, a thee storey and another, a storey, which were demolished through controlled mechanism, was carried out by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, under the supervision of the Lagos State Building Control Agency, LASBCA, the Material Testing and Laboratory Agency, as well as the coordinating Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

Federal government bars Onnoghen from travelling, seizes passport

The Federal government has barred immediate past Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, from travelling out of the country.
The move may not be unconnected to a fresh probe into Onnoghen’s affairs. Onnoghen was convicted for not declaring his assets by the Code of Conduct Tribunal in April.
An internal report issued by the Nigeria Immigration Service, stated that Onnoghen, his wife and daughter were attempting to travel to Accra, Ghana when they were accosted by immigration officers.
