Movie producer, Funke Akindele loses dad

Nollywood actress and movie producer, Funke Akindele has lost her father.
Funke announced her father’s death on Monday via Instagram wishing her father an eternal peaceful rest.
She wrote:
“Dad!!! May your soul Rest in Peace!! I tried Dad! I did!! We love you but God knows best!!! #iwishicanturnbackthehandsoftime,” she said.

2 men in court for allegedly stealing car worth N2.5 million

Two men, Godwin Amuzie and Godspower Imafidon, who allegedly stole a Honda Accord car valued at N2.5 million on Monday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
Amuzie, 25, an artisan and Imafidon, 25, a security man, who both reside at Satellite Town, Lagos, are facing charges of conspiracy and stealing.
They, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge.

Biden campaign attacks Trump policy on Saudi Arabia, North Korea

Democrat Joe Biden’s presidential campaign launched new attacks on Donald Trump on Sunday, advocating a reevaluation of U.S.-Saudi relations and calling North Korea’s apparent weapons test a “rebuke” to the U.S. president in a statement to Reuters.
The statement comes as Trump faces pressure to examine his administration’s approach to Riyadh after law enforcement officials said a Saudi Arabian Air Force lieutenant killed three people at a U.S. Navy base in Pensacola, Florida, before being fatally shot.

Okpe Union (North America) donates books to Schools

Members of the Okpe Union in North America have donated textbooks worth thousands of naira to some schools in Sapele and Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State as part of their self-help project of lifting the burden of parents and guardians.
Schools that benefited from the project include Ethiope Primary School, Umiaghwa Primary School, Oviri Okpe Primary School, Adeje Primary School, Oyenke Primary School, and  Ikeresan Primary School, all in Okpe and Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.

Illegal operation: LASG shuts 24 health facilities

The Lagos State Government has shut at least 24 pharmacies, patent medicine shops and unlicensed premises across the state over illegal operation and operating beyond scope of practice.
The facilities located at: Abule Egba, Alagbado, kola, Meiran, Ekoro and Oko-Oba in Ifako Ijaiye and Alimosho Local Government areas of the state were sealed last Wednesday by the Lagos State Taskforce on Counterfeit, Fake Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Foods for offences.

EFCC secures conviction of 111 fraudsters in Southeast in 11 months

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it has obtained the conviction of 111 fraudsters in the South East between January and November 2019.
The commission also said that it had secured the final forfeiture of N1.5billion state-of-the-art 200 bedded hospital linked to an aide to the former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha.
The southeast Zonal Head of the EFCC, Mr Usman Imam said this on Monday in Enugu during the 2019 International Anti-corruption Day.

Fire and petrol bombs after ‘generally peaceful’ Hong Kong march, police say

Hong Kong protesters lit a fire outside court buildings, threw petrol bombs and spray-painted graffiti on government buildings, following a “generally peaceful” march at the weekend, police said on Monday.
Protesters called for strikes across the city on Monday, but most railway and transport links ran smoothly during the morning rush hour and there were no reports of widespread disruptions.

WhatsApp to stop working on millions of phones by end of December

WhatsApp has announced it will soon stop working on millions of phones around the world as they reach the end of their supported lifespan.
That means users on a variety of older handsets could end up losing access to the messaging app.
Facebook-owned WhatsApp has confirmed via its support page that it will stop supporting these devices on December 31, 2019.
The company says that any phone running the Windows Mobile operating system will not be supported after this date.
