NNPC, Total & partners take HIV campaign to Lagos schools

As Nigeria joins the rest of the world to mark 2019 World AIDS Day, NNPC-NAPIMS, in collaboration with the management and staff of Total Upstream Nigeria Ltd., and their partners (PETROBRAS, SAPETRO & CNOOC) have taken the fight against HIV/AIDS to secondary schools in Lagos state.
The students of Ajigbede Girls Secondary Senior School; Gbaja Girls Senior Secondary School; Ideal Girls Senior Secondary School, Ansar-ud-Deen Secondary School, and Government Senior Secondary School, all in Lagos benefited from the launch.

Lagos govt to demolish buildings on Right of Way in Lekki

The Lagos State Government says it will demolish buildings obstructing government’s Right of Way (RoW) at Lekki in Eti-Osa Local Government Area.
Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu disclosed this during a road assessment on Saturday in Lekki, saying that people had built structures without planning approval, thereby obstructing the government’s RoW.
Sanwo-Olu said that houses built on the RoW and obstructions on the alignment of the Lekki Regional Road were the major causes of flooding around Lekki axis.

Religious activities should be ban from stadiums — Rojenny Proprietor

Rommy Ezeonwuka, Proprietor of Rojenny Stadium and Tourists Village, has called on government at all levels to ban religious and other non sporting activities in all spots sports stadia in the country.
Ezeonwuka made the call when he received members of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Anambra chapter, who were on tour of sports facilities in the state.
The tour of sports was part of the three day SWAN Week activities in the state.

Police confirm release of abducted Adamawa DPO

The Adamawa  Police Command has confirmed the rescue of DSP Ahijo Muhammad, DPO of Mubi Division, who was kidnapped a fortnight ago by unknown persons.
DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, the Command’s Spokesman, announced the development to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Yola.
Nguroje explained that Muhammad was rescued on Saturday evening by Police Operation Puff Ader/Operation Farauta in Mubi.

“DSP Ahijo Muhammad, DPO  Mubi North, was rescued from the hands of his abductors unharmed and healthy.

HIV Eradication: Telecoms giant supports Bayelsa State with 60,000 rapid test kits

As part of efforts to involve private sector involvement in Nigeria’s health sector, Telecoms Infrastructure Giant IHS Nigeria, a subsidiary of IHS Towers is contributing 60,000 rapid test kits to the Bayelsa State government to support the US Agency for International Development, USAID’s HIV/AIDS programme to eradicate HIV/AIDS in Bayelsa State.
The kits will specifically be used to test young women and children to prevent mother-to-child transmission and help health clinics improve antenatal services.
