Three men murdered after wrongly being labelled ‘paedophiles’

A paranoid schizophrenic allegedly killed three pensioners he wrongly believed were paedophiles.
Alexander Lewis-Ranwell, 28, was under the delusion that he had uncovered a paedophile ring so killed Anthony Payne, 80, and twin brothers Roger and D*** Carter, 84, in February.
He is on trial for murder after admitting to the killings but denies murder on the basis of insanity.

All three victims were killed within the space of a couple of hours in Exeter, Devon.

Former Arsenal defender has called on the club to consider appointing Mauricio Pochettino as their next manager.
Pochettino was sacked by Spurs on Tuesday after five years in charge and swiftly replaced by Jose Mourinho.
The dismissal comes as Gunners manager Unai Emery continues to fight for his own job with the club without a win in their past five matches. With Emery hanging by a thread, Keown believes Arsenal would be stupid not to have a think about replacing the Spaniard with Pochettino.

New Spurs manager Jose Mourinho appears to have taken a swipe at the academies of his former clubs, which include Chelsea and Manchester United – whilst praising the youth set-up at Spurs.
Mourinho has not often been associated with the development of young players, but he insists that it is something that he wants to do.
However, he feels that the groundwork was not laid for him to do so in previous jobs, whilst he believes that Spurs have an academy that can be utilized.

The wife of the President, Her Excellency, Dr. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari has launched the Action-Nigeria Campaign, tagged ‘’Albishirin Ku’’ which unites Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, Malaria and Nutrition Social behaviour change intervention under one identity in Abuja.
Her Excellency, who was represented by the wife of the Kebbi State Governor, Dr.  Zainab Bagudu disclosed that the Maternal and Child Health trajectory has experienced various strategies by numerous actors, which have contributed to a degree of improvement, bringing the country to its current status.

Man jailed 23 weeks for punching his dog while walking in park

A dog owner has been jailed for over five months after he was caught on camera repeatedly punching his pet.
Robert Black was given the 23-week sentenced at Reading Magistrates’ Court for causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.
A witness saw him beating his dog in Victoria Park, Newbury, Berkshire, on December 21 last year so contacted police.
He was arrested soon after and CCTV caught the moment that he attacked the mixed-breed dog.

The Caretaker Committee, Queen’s College Parent Teacher’s Association, has issued statements on the viral video of a scuffle between a parent and the school securities over a ‘Queen’ who fixed eyelashes and artificial nail to the school on Monday.
According to the caretaker committee, they condemned the action of the Queen’s mother and declare their support to the school management in enforcing discipline in the school.
The committee also said they intend to meet with the parent of the girl and the girl to be able to find common ground in other to prevent a repeat of such incidence.

PERHAPS nothing had attracted so much attention in the media than the quiet and subdued celebrations surrounding the 80th birthday of Malam Mamman Daura, editor of the New Nigerian Newspaper, in its heyday of the 1970s. Much had been written, some of it quite bellicose but I guess the great journalist he is, he could take such flaks, probably with even a hearty laugh. Those who have grown under his wings have written glowingly of him.
