Uruguay’s Cavani confirms Messi confrontation in 2-2 draw with Argentina
Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani has confirmed there was a heated exchange with Lionel Messi during Uruguay’s 2-2 friendly draw with Argentina on Monday amid claims he offered to fight his opponent.
With Uruguay leading at the time thanks to a Cavani goal, Messi reacted angrily to a foul from combative midfielder Matias Vecino.
After a confrontation, Ole claims that Cavani asked Messi: “Do you want to fight?” to which the Barcelona star reportedly replied: “Whenever you want, whenever you want.”

The pair were eventually separated by Uruguay’s Luis Suarez, a team-mate of Messi at Barcelona, while defender Diego Godin also offered a conciliatory arm around the shoulder.

Luis Enrique set to be re-appointed Spain manager after five-month absence
Luis Enrique is set to be re-appointed as the manager of Spain, five months after stepping down from the role for personal reasons.
Enrique resigned from the role in June as his nine-year-old daughter Xana was seriously ill with bone cancer, and subsequently died in August.

The former Barcelona manager missed Spain’s previous three games before leaving the role and was replaced by his long-term assistant Robert Moreno, who was given a contract until after the European Championships.

Italy set two new records and came close to breaking several more in their 9-1 Euro 2020 qualifying thrashing of Armenia in Palermo.
For the first time in their history Italy had seven different scorers in one game, with the victory also meaning they won all of their games in a World Cup or European Championship qualifying campaign for the first time.

NPFL: Eguma uncomfortable with Rivers United’s poor run
After failing to win any of its opening three matches, Rivers United coach Stanley Eguma has admitted that he is disturbed with his team’s run of results.
Eguma also admitted that the team will need to work on its goal-scoring issues as he believes that it’s the major problem behind their inability to win matches especially in Sunday’s 1-0 loss to FC Ifeanyi Ubah.

UEFA in discussions with clubs to expand Women’s Champions League
UEFA and the European Clubs Association are discussing plans to expand the Women’s Champions League, which could result in more places for English sides.
Only two teams from each of the continent’s top eight leagues qualify for the round of 32, with no group stage currently included. It’s understood a number of top sides are eager for the tournament to begin with a round-robin, which would guarantee each club plays at least six matches, instead of only two.
