Desperate to keep girls in school

Recently, I have been involved in advocacy in Ekiti State on strategies to keep girls in school. The trends in Girl-Child education across Africa at the moment indicate that enrolment levels are way up than where they were years ago, but a common problem is retention of girls in school.

Minister Timipre Sylva must apologise to Judiciary

Tonnie Iredia

Two weeks ago, when I was leaving Nigeria on a working visit to 3 cities in Europe and America, I imagined I would miss much of the interesting political events unravelling in the country. I was not sure to accurately capture the developments in the crisis in my state between Governor Godwin Obaseki and his predecessor in office, Adams Oshiomhole. Thanks to technology, many of the things happening behind me were actually presented on a minute by minute basis to the entire world by citizen journalists of the social media.

Give to the needy

Brethren as we move close to the end of the year, our prayer is that we end this year rejoicing.    We all   wish to celebrate the Christmas and New Year joyfully.  By the grace of God when it is time for celebration, we shall not be six feet below in the name of Jesus.  We shall be alive to give thanks to the Almighty God.

To begin with, most Nigerian politicians, including senators, are extremely selfish and hypocritical moral Lilliputians who habitually play to the gallery instead of focusing on good legislation and oversight functions that can contribute to national development. Second, collectively the federal lawmakers are victims of taboo morality derived from religion which, as we have seen, constitutes a formidable impediment towards the cultivation of healthy rational attitude towards s**.

Wole Olanipekun’s stature looms large at 68

There are individuals whose influence goes far beyond their considerable achievements and competencies. What unites these masters of conscience is the fact that they enlarge the reach and range of our social imagination by making a greater proportion of their life and times available to shape their society and so form the basis for a moral order.

Mercy of God is desirable

THE faces of many people are yearning and asking for the mercy of God but not all the people that request for mercy receive it. This is based on what the scripture says in Exodus 33:19 “…I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion”. The above scripture is so powerful and implies that a person’s request for mercy does not guaranty his or her receipt of God’s mercy.
