Multiple award-winning Afrobeat hit maker, Burna Boy yesterday kept mum as some South African artistes under the aegis of Tshwane Collective wrote a petition to the country’s Minister of Arts and Culture, Nathi Mthethwa, kicking against his inclusion in two concerts scheduled for  November 23 and 24.

CPAN says 2019 JAMB marred by biometric, browser failure

The Computer-Based Test Centres Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria (CPAN), has alleged that the 2019 UTME was marred by both biometric and browser failures.
The President of CPAN, Mr Maxwell Akwuruoha, made this known at a news conference in Abuja on Thursday.
Akwuruoha claimed that contrary to claims by the board that the examination was a success, the 2019 examination was marred by both biometric and browser failures from JAMB with most candidates denied the opportunity to write the test.

2 injured in Tejuosho Lagos fire — LASEMA

Two persons were injured when fire gutted a storey building behind Tejuosho Market in Yaba, Lagos on Thursday, reports the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
The Director General of LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said that the fire, caused by power surge, was put out by rescue officials and Lagos State Fire Service.
He said that the Tejuosho fire started from one of the rooms before escalating to other parts of the building.

Euro 2020: Turkey qualify with draw against Iceland, France also secure spot

Turkey qualified for the Euro 2020 finals with a goalless draw in a Group H against Iceland on Thursday, with the result also ensuring France a place in the championships.
They join Belgium, Italy, Poland, Russia, Spain and Ukraine as the teams who have already qualified for the tournament that will be staged across 12 European countries from 12 June to 12 July 2020.
Turkey lead Group H with 20 points although France can overtake them at the top if they beat Moldova later on Thursday.

Mrs Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, the Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) says data is a veritable tool to achieving the SDGs.

Prof. Attahiru Jega, former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says that improving the integrity of elections is key to democratic development of any nation,
Jega said this in Ibadan on Thursday while delivering a lecture to mark the 71st Foundation Day and Convocation of the University of Ibadan.
The former INEC boss spoke on the topic: “Towards Credible Electoral Process and Sustainable Political Systems in Nigeria: What Role for Universities?”, said Nigeria could achieve greater integrity in its electoral process through the collaboration of stakeholders.
