FG launches garment factory for security agencies

The Federal Government has launched a modern garment factory to produce uniforms for the armed forces and other security agencies in the country.
This is to ensure standardisation and guard against the misuse of military and security uniforms by impostors and criminals in Nigeria.
Mr Mohammed Manga, Director Press and Public Relations of the Ministry of Interior, made this known in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.
He said the launching of the garment factory, which was tagged, DICON-SUR Corporate Wears Nigeria Limited, was held at the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) at Kakuri, Kaduna.

A 23-year-old alleged commercial s** worker, who posed as a sales agent, has been arrested for allegedly stealing a Toyota jeep, phones and other valuables from a man who contracted her services.
The victim identified simply as Patrick, who resides at Toyin street Ikeja, Lagos disclosed that he met the suspect, Deborah Nwachukwu,  at Shoprite, Ikeja,  selling some cleaning products for a company. He stated that he invited her to come clean his apartment, last weekend,  with an agreement to pay her N20,000 for the service.

Former APGA senatorial candidate in Abia quits partisan politics

Mr Chidi Ajaegbu, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance for Abia Central Senatorial District in the February polls, on Sunday announced his resignation from the party.
Addressing newsmen in Aba on Sunday, Ajaegbu also said that he had decided to quit partisan politics for now to pursue his humanitarian services.
He attributed his decision to the lingering leadership crisis that had torn APGA into two factions at the state and national levels.

President Muhammadu Buhari has condoled with the family of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, the late Prime Minister, on the loss of Hajiya Jummai Abubakar, Balewa’s last surviving wife, who died on Sunday.
The President’s condolence message is communicated through a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, in Abuja on Sunday.
In the message sent through the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, President Buhari said: “It was with the deepest sense of sorrow that I have learnt of the tragic demise of Hajiya Jummai Tafawa Balewa.

Breaking: Wife of late Tafawa Balewa, Jummai dies at 85

Widow of Nigeria’s former Prime Minister, Jummai Abubakar Tafawa Balewa has been confirmed dead.
Confirming her death, granddaughter of the late prime minister, Hajara Wanka said the late prime minister’s wife died of heart failure.

Vanguard learned from Balewa’s granddaughter that his widow died in Lagos in the early hours of Sunday after a protracted illness.
She added that, before her death, the widow had visited India for medical help, where she was treated.

Mentally deranged man allegedly smashes 1yr old baby to death

Tragedy struck weekend in Isheri area of Lagos, after a man said to be mentally deranged, attacked a one-year-old baby, killing her on the spot.
The suspect, Isiaka Ayobami, according to residents of Ayo Ijaiye street, had been suffering from mental disorder for long.
It was gathered that the unsuspecting baby girl identified as Nana Aishat Isiaka, was with her mother, when the Ayobami, who lives almost adjacent the baby’s parents, suddenly seized her from the mother.
