Premier League: Cloud nine for Leicester City, as they wreck Southampton 9-0

Brendan Rodgers Leicester City continued their impressive premier league form, steamrolling Southampton 9-0, equalling the premier league record for largest win. A record earlier set by Manchester United in a 9-0 victory against Ipswich Town at Old Trafford in 1995.
 
Leicester City took the trip to The Saint Mary’s Stadium against Southampton in a Friday night kick-off. Left-back Ben Chilwell tapped in the opener for the Foxes in the 10th minute.

Ex-Chrisland Schools supervisor jailed 60 years for defiling 2-yr-old girl

An Ikeja domestic violence and sexual offences court have sentenced Adegboyega Adenekan, a school supervisor, to 60 years imprisonment for child defilement.
Sybil Nwaka, the presiding judge, handed down the sentence after convicting Adenekan of a lone-count charge of defiling a two-year-and-11-month-old pupil.
Adenekan had pleaded not guilty to the charge the Lagos state government filed against him.

But while delivering her verdict, Nwaka described Adenekan, as “wicked, conscienceless and an animal who is not worthy of walking on the streets of Lagos”.

Ivan Archivaldo Guzman, the leader of Los Chapitos wing of the Sinaloa Cartel and also El Chapo’s son, was behind the assault on security forces that prompted the release of his half-brother from a house in the city of Culiacan last week, a top Mexican official said.
The men’s father is Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, Mexico’s most infamous drug kingpin, who himself slipped away from authorities on multiple occasions before being sentenced to life imprisonment in the United States this year.

PDP congratulates Gov. Wike over victory at Supreme Court

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday in Abuja, congratulated Gov. Nyesom Wike of River, over the Supreme Court judgement that affirmed his election.
The party in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, described the judgement as the final triumph of justice and the will of the people over anti-democratic forces.
Ologbondiyan said that the judgment had further strengthened the confidence of the people on the integrity of the Supreme Court.

Electricity: GenCos fail to generate 2,238.5 megawatts due to gas shortage

Electricity Generation Companies (GenCos), comprising gas-fired and hydro stations, said that they could not generate 2,238 megawatts of electricity on Thursday due to unavailability of gas.
This is contained in a daily energy report by the Advisory Power Team, office of the Vice President, a copy of which was obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Friday.
The report also noted that 38.5 megawatts of electricity was not generated due to the unavailability of transmission infrastructure during the period.

Edo lawmaker arraigned over alleged forgery, impersonation

A member of the Edo State House of Assembly, Mr Ugiagbe Dumez, was on Friday arraigned before an Edo State High Court in Benin for alleged forgery and impersonation.
Dumez, 45, with one other now at large, were said to have committed the offences around 2001.
The defendant was arraigned before Justice Ohimai Ovbiagele.
The lawmaker was, however, not in court to take his plea.
According to charges read by the court, at about the year 2001 at the Benin Criminal Division, Dumez and one other now at large conspired with themselves to commit felony to wit: forgery.
