The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has dismissed allegations that its minister, Geoffrey Onyeama refused to appear before the House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs.
Mr Ferdinard Nwonye, spokesperson for the ministry, made this known in a statement on Monday in Abuja.
According to him, far from the allegation making the rounds, Mr Onyeama holds the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila and the National Assembly in the highest esteem and will not snub it for any reason.

The 36 State Governors under the aegis of Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) yesterday agreed to pay the N614 billion that was advanced to thirty five states as budget support facility.
Responding to a question  after the meeting of the governors  ahead of Thursday’s  97th National Economic Council, NEC meeting, Chairman of NGF and Ekiti State governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi said that as governors they are willing to pay the refund of the bail out fund,  stating  that it will be done after a proper reconciliation with the federal government, adding that if you owe, you pay.

The Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE Wednesday announced that total transactions at the nation’s bourse for both the Domestic and Foreign  Portfolio Investment, FPI  increased by 7.5 percent to N121.99 billion (about $398.0 million) in August 20191  from N113.47 billion (about $370.4 million) in July 2019.

The Lagos State Government on Wednesday gave a sum of N20,000 to each of the second batch of 315 Nigerians evacuated from South Africa.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the fresh batch of returnees arrived a week after another 187 Nigerians fleeing xenophobia came back from South Africa.
The joyous returnees arrived at the Cargo Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos at about 7.21p.m aboard an Air Peace B777 aircraft with registration number 5N-BWI.

Alhaji Magaji Muhammad of Tudun Wada, Zaria has dragged his sibling, Alhaji Umar Farouq, to Court of Appeal, Kaduna over issues surrounding inheritance.

The applicant filed an application on April 23, 2018 seeking the Appeal Court to interpret the powers of Grand Khadi to transfer a case from one court to another under Section 41 Laws of Kaduna State Sharia Court of Appeal.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the case which borders around the wealth left behind by their late father, Alhaji Muhammad of Tudun Wada, Zaria had been on for almost eight years.

A Rwandan Hutu militia commander who was wanted for war crimes has been killed in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo), the country’s military says.
Sylvestre Mudacumura, who was wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC), led the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR).
He was killed in Rutshuru in the east of DR Congo, an army spokesman said on Wednesday.
