The trio made up of the Zonal Vice Chairman, Financial Secretary and a Local Government Party Chairman in Adamawa state reportedly connived with the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to scuttle the APC’s chances of reclaiming the Adamawa governorship seat at the tribunal.
They are, Aliyu Bakari, (Vice Chairman, Central Zone), Saidu Naira (Financial Secretary) and Babangida Talase (Chairman Mayo-Belwa LGA).
A statement signed by Mohammed Abdullahi, state publicity secretary on Saturday says, ”Alh. Aliyu Bakari has been suspended indefinitely from the party.

target=_blank>Religious Studies Teacher Rapes, Impregnates 15-Year-Old Pupil

A teacher with Jubilee Community Grammar School in Surulere under Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State, Sola Akinyemi, has raped and impregnated one of his students, a petition obtained by Sahara Reporters, revealed.
Akinyemi, according to the petition, had been forcefully having carnal knowledge of the student before he eventually got her pregnant.
It was learnt that the teacher takes Christian Religious Studies subject in the government owned school.
It all started when the randy teacher found a mobile phone on the student during a lecture.
The phone was seized and became a bait in luring the girl to different hotels in Ondo town where the teacher took advantage of her for two years.
The teacher threatened to deal with the student if she told anyone that he raped or had been sleeping with her.
A recent scan carried out on the girl revealed that she is currently seven months pregnant.
Sad by the ugly incident, mother of the teenage girl reported the case to her friend, who subsequently confronted the teacher.
The case was later reported to the police in Ondo town.

target=_blank>Oyegun: Nigerians Like A Child Blaming His Father For Being Unable To Provide For His Family

Odigie Oyegun

Odigie Oyegun

The Guardian Nigeria

The pioneer National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has described Nigerians as a child who failed to understand the challenges his father is facing in providing for the family.
He, however, hoped that President Muhammadu Buhari’s ‘Next Level’ promises would be fulfilled.
Speaking on why his party has failed to bring the change it promised Nigerians in 2015, Odegie-Oyegun said, “It’s like a child blaming the father for not being able to provide for him. When he becomes a father, he will know why. The problems were much more than we anticipated. I hope the ‘Next Level’ (campaign) will produce the kind of result that will now place the nation on the path of growth. We cannot afford to still give excuses again.”
Odigie-Oyegun stated this in an interview with Punch on Saturday.
When asked if Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka was right in describing his generation as wasted, the APC chieftain replied, “Well, Soyinka is very dramatic with his words. He uses words to dramatize situations and to call attention (to issues). All he was saying was that we had not achieved our potential. That is my own interpretation. We fall far short of our potential, even till this date.
“All those things we left behind, even as civil servants, are in a state of disrepair. There is no comparative replacement all these years and it is worrisome, it is painful and disappointing. I pray that one day; we will find our way back to the path of growth and development.”
He also commented on the security situation in the country which according to him is a serious challenge.
“Sometimes, I read in the media opinions that there must be total peace but I accept that where we are now is far from being good when even citizens of the country feel unsafe. I can speak for myself and say that if I could avoid travelling outside Benin City for even 10km, I would do it. I know they (bandits) kidnap in cities too.
“They kidnap in towns but, at least, you are a bit safer in your bedroom than on the highways. So, yes, we have a serious challenge in the way the new security threat is manifesting itself. I think there are people out there, whether in this country or outside the country, that are trying to get Nigerians into thinking that the government cannot protect them and that is a very dangerous thing,” he explained.

target=_blank>Police Invite Cross River Journalist Over Article

Agba Jalingo

Agba Jalingo

The Cross River State Police Command have invited Agba Jalingo, a journalist publisher of CrossRiver Watch, for publishing an article exposing how Governor Ben Ayade approved and diverted N500m for Cross River Micro-Finance Bank.
In the article, Jalingo said the micro-finance bank had been rendered non-functional as money earmarked to kick start its operation was not released.
The report reads, “After raising these high hopes and expectations, eight months after the opening of the bank and release of N500m, not a dime has been given to anyone.
“Information available to me suggest clearly that after approval of the N500m, Governor Ayade diverted the funds and embezzled same and this has stalled plans for the microfinance bank.”
About a month after the publication of the report, the police invited Jalingo for questioning on the article.
The Police in its letter to him, said the article is “conspiracy to cause a breach of peace”.
The invitation letter dated August 14, 2019 and delivered two days later, reads, “This office is investigating a case of conspiracy to cause a breach of peace, reported by Cross River Microfinance Bank, Calabar, in which your name is mentioned.
“To facilitate our investigation, you are kindly requested to report to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, Calabar, on Monday August 19, 2019, at 1400hrs, to state your side of the case.
“Your cooperation is highly solicited as we expect an early response, please.”

target=_blank>FBI Arrest Nigerian Billionaire Over $11m Fraud

The Federal Bureau of Investigation have arrested the Chief Executive Officer of Invictus Group, Obinwanne Okeke, for conspiracy to commit computer fraud.
Okeke, who made it into Forbes ‘Africa’s 30 Under 30 List in 2016’, was arrested by the FBI over $11m wire fraud after an account belonging to the CEO of Unatrac Holding Limited, a steel company, was hacked.
The suspect was alleged to have conspired with some other individuals to access the CEO’s computers without authorisation, PMNews reports.
According to an affidavit signed by Marshall Ward, a Special Agent of FBI, representatives of Unatrac Holding Limited, contacted the agency after experiencing a fraudulent transfer of $11m from the firms account through a compromised email.
The affidavit reads, “Unatrac’s Chief Financial Officer received a phishing email containing a web link purportedly to the login page of the CFO’s online email account hosted by Microsoft Office365.
“When the CFO opened the link, it instead led him to a phishing website crafted to imitate the legitimate Office365 login page.
“Believing the page to be real, he entered his login credentials, which were captured by an unknown intruder who controlled the spoofed web page.
“Between April 6 and April 20, 2018, the intruder accessed the CFO’s account at least 464 times, mostly from Internet Protocol (IP) addresses in Nigeria.”
The report led to an investigation, which began in July 2018 after the FBI reviewed the submitted documents and eventually led to the arrest of Okeke.

NCAC, Women Group Partner On Cultural Reorientation

In a bid to stem the current tide of public display of nudity and immorality among youths in Nigeria, the National Council of Women Societies and the National Council for Arts and Culture have embarked on sensitisation initiatives.
Speaking at a meeting of both organisations in Abuja, National President of the NCWS, Dr Laraba Shoda, condemned the upsurge in public display of nudity following a viral video of near-naked girls dancing in public inside a transparent van in Lagos. She described another scenario where a young lady walked into a mall completely naked as negating the essence of the Nigerian culture, which promotes the dignity of the African woman.
Dr Shoda said there was the need to create television programs with good cultural content to arrest the disturbing trend.
On his part, the NCAC Director-General, Otunba Segun Runsewe, said the partnership of interest between the women societies and the NCAC will signal a new dawn in the crusade against cultural degeneration and foreign erosion of our culture.
According to Runsewe, the NCAC is working on a legislation with the National Assembly to curb the negative trend of public nudity.
