target=_blank>2019 Budget: I Rate Saraki Very Low On Patriotism, Says President Buhari

Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari has passed a vote of no confidence on the leadership of the National Assembly in the enactment of the 2019 Appropriation Act.
Buhari, while speaking, on Monday night, during a videotaped interview broadcast on Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, said he had conveyed his reservation directly to the legislative leaders while assenting the bill on Monday morning.
When asked to comment on the delayed budget passage, president Buhari said, “I think a culture was developed in the National Assembly that they should dictate the terms, which was wrong. It is the executive that dictates the terms and takes it before the legislature. It (the legislature) will examine it and agree or disagree with it.
“But when they go around posing that they are the government and not the executive, then that’s the problem. I felt and I spoke personally to the Senate President, Saraki, and the leader of the House, Dogara. They could not deny it.
“I asked them how they felt to hold the country at ransom for seven months without passing a budget. Unfortunately, they were not hurting me; they were hurting the country. So, really, in terms of patriotism, I think I rated them very low indeed.”
The President noted that constitutionally, he could not help that there were things that had to go through the legislature.
“But to hold a budget for seven months cannot be justified if you really bother about the country,” he added.

target=_blank>Corrupt Nigerians Will Come For Me With Asset Declaration Questions After 2023 Says, President Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday told the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) to hold on to his asset declaration forms because it will come in handy as a defense against corrupt Nigerians seeking to get back at Him in 2023.He made the comments when he, in the company of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, received fresh assets declaration forms at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.President Buhari said: “I am very pleased that you are here, I assure you I will quickly fill this form and dispatched it back to you so that at the end of 2023, I believe there are a lot of people that will like to take it back on me.“So please, make sure you keep it safely because there are people who believed they shouldn’t be questioned which they are being questioned and some of them are already in trouble.“I expect them to fight back and this is one of the instruments. So I hope you will keep it.”“I have never met you before. I thank you for accepting to be in this very important institution and I thank you very much for serving me my forms which I must fill constitutionally before my second term of office.
“It is only institutions like you that will bail us out from the efforts that we have been making to make sure that people in public office do not abuse that public office and that those who come in and those that are leaving certain positions make sure that they hold the integrity of the office and of the country generally.”

It was discovered that not only do pupils lack enough teachers and learning materials, but they also suffer one of the worst predicament that could befall pupils.
The students receive lessons under the open sky, subject to the whims of the elements, with a tree doing its best to provide shade.
Community members and teachers put resources together to build a block of classrooms but after some years, the building suffered the same fate as the ones before it.
All efforts by the community members to seek the intervention of the government proved abortive as all promises made were never met.
However, after the visit by Civic Media Lab, Tracka and a wide publication by Saharareporters on the bad condition of the school and what students go through on daily basis, the government has begun construction of new classrooms.
Seun Akinfolarin, Executive Director of Civic Media Lab, thanked the state government while urging the government to intervene in other school suffering from the same predicament in the state.

target=_blank>Court Nulls APC’s Victory, Declares PDP Candidate Winner Of Imo Reps Seat

A Federal High Court in Owerri, has declared candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), winner in an intra-party suit filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Harrison Nwadike of APC had approached the court to invalidate the candidacy of Ugonna Ozurigbo for Nwangele/Njaba/Isu/Nkwerre Federal Constituency of Imo state, on the basis that the primary election conducted was not the one approved by the law.
However, the judge ruled against the two candidates of APC and declared Kingsley Echendu of the PDP as the rightful winner.
He said that Ozurigbo was automatically selected contending, “automatic ticket is unknown to law.”
Joined in the suit are APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Delivering the judgment, Justice Tijanni Ringim, accepted the plea of Nwadike and ruled that the mode of selection of the party was not done with due process and with the proper backing of the law.
The judge ruled that the primary election be canceled and that the APC did not have any candidate in the election.
Justice Ringim also ruled that the runner-up in the election be declared as the winner and the commission should recognize him as the winner of the election.
The trial judge also ruled that APC should refund N3million to Nwadike as his nomination fees and that APC and Ozurigbo should pay Nwadike another N10million while INEC should pay N500,000 cost.
Speaking after the ruling, Nwadike avowed to challenge the ruling of the court declaring Echendu as the winner even though the candidacy of Ozurigbo was voided.
He maintained, “it was wrong for the court to have declared the PDP candidate the lawful winner of the general election.”
