The management of National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has dissociated the Scheme and its serving corps members from the robbery attack on players and members of the coaching crew of FC Ifeanyi Ubah.
Recall the Anambra-based team last Friday came under attack by suspected gunmen dressed in NYSC uniform in Kogi state; while the club members were on their way to Kano for a Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) match against Jigawa Golden Stars.

Gunmen abduct three female students in Bayelsa

Three final year students of the Bayelsa State College of Health Technology in Ogbia local government area of the state have been reportedly abducted by unknown gunmen.
The students of the Department of Environmental Health Sciences were reportedly taken hostage at about 11:00 a.m. on Monday near the same spot where two policemen were killed and their guns carted away few days to the Bayelsa State governorship election.
It was gathered that the students were walking along the road when they were accosted by the gunmen and whisked to an unknown location.

Abducted female Corps member rescued after four days in kidnappers den

A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Onyiwara Faith, who was abducted four days ago while on her way to attend the Community Development Service (CDS) meeting at Ilamija, Epe area of Lagos has been rescued.
Faith, was rescued at about 2.20 am today in a forest around Ilamija Nla in Epe, after a gun battle between teams of policemen led by the Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu and the kidnappers.

BREAKING: Sanwo-Olu renames Onikan Stadium after late Mobolaji Johnson

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has renamed Onikan Stadium the Onikan Stadium after late first Military Governor of Lagos State, Brig Gen Mobolaji Olufunsho Johnson, to honour and immortalise the deceased.

Sanwo-Olu announced this Tuesday, at an event tagged: “A day of Tribute” at Onikan Stadium, Lagos Island, as part of activities lined up for the burial arrangements for the late military Governor being sponsored by the state government.

President Buhari departs Daura

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday departed from his home town of Daura in Katsina State after a five-day official engagements.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Buhari was in Daura to perform the ground breaking ceremony of the newly established University of Transportation.
NAN reports that the president spent five days in Daura before departing the ancient town at 9:42 am in a presidential chopper marked NAF-540 on Tuesday.

NDLEA arrests 29 suspected drug traffickers in Edo

The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Edo command said on Tuesday it has arrested 29 suspected drug traffickers in the state.

The State Commander of the NDLEA, Buba Wakawa, disclosed this in Benin, the state capital.
Wakawa said the suspects, comprising 23 males and six females, were arrested in November.
He said the suspects were in possession of about 3,756.82 kilograms of narcotics at the time of their arrests.

Photos: Impounded Opay bikes seen in Lagos police station

A large number of Opay bikes were on Monday seen in a Police station at Victoria Island of Lagos state. A truck filled with Opay bikes was also seen on Lagos road.
It was gathered that the bikes were impounded due to noncompliance from Opay riders but however, the real reason for impounding the Opay bikes is unknown.
You would recall that months ago, there was an ongoing shakedown between Lagos’ bike-hailing industry and the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and the Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) but which was later settled when the companies signed a deal with NURTW to pay N500 ($1.38) on daily levies.
