FAO says 4m Nigerians face acute food insecurity
The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations has said that about 4.02 million people in Nigeria are currently faced with acute food insecurity.
The FAO Country Director, Suffyan Koroma, said this during the presentation of October 2019 CH Analysis’ outcome for 16 states and the FCT, on Tuesday in Abuja.
Koroma said the food security situation report released by the World Food Programme and FAO noted that there had been a significant improvement in the food security situation in the country.

Lalong plans gazette on water as 2.8m lack decent toilets in Plateau
Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau says his administration will soon gazette a Water Sector Law to improve peoples’ access to water and sanitation in the state.
Lalong disclosed this at the launching of the “Keep Your Promise Campaign on WASH” on Tuesday in Jos.
Represented by the state Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Ibrahim Bello, the Governor said that the State Government had paid N500 million as counterpart funds for various WASH projects in the state.

FIRS targets 80% revenue from non-oil sector in next 3 years
The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) says the non-oil sector will contribute 80 per cent of the country’s revenue in the next three years.
Mr Wahab Gbadamosi, the FIRS Head of Communications and Servicom Department made this known in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday
Gbadamosi said the executive chairman of the service, Mr Tunde Fowler said this at the Nigeria-Canada Investment Summit which held in Abuja.

He explained that the non-oil sector’s contribution to the Nigerian economy would rise to 60 per cent by November 2019 from 54 per cent in December 2018.

Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta says Patient-Centred Care (PCC) remains a viable option for the improvement of health care delivery in the country.
Okowa made this assertion in his keynote address at the second National Health Summit, organised by the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), on Tuesday in Abuja.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the theme of the summit is “Patient-Centered Care.”
He said that PCC had great potential to produce much better outcomes in a cost-efficient manner, reduce system errors and increase patient satisfaction.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has stripped Granit Xhaka of the captaincy and left him out of the Premier League side’s squad for their Europa League game against Portugal’s Vitoria.
“I had a meeting with him and told him he is no longer in the captain’s group,” the Mirror website quoted the Spaniard as telling reporters on Tuesday.
