Oshiomhole Accuses Edo Deputy Governor Of Masterminding Attack On Him, Others

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, has countered allegations that he mobilised thugs to attack Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, during the convocation of Edo University, Iyamho, on Saturday.
He stated this on Sunday in Abuja while reacting to the allegations.
He alleged that the governor was clearly in the picture of how the thugs were imported into the area.
Oshiomhole absolved himself of sponsoring thugs, saying it was unthinkable that he would attack his own guests.
He said, “This whole thing is unfortunate because it was organised by the state government.
“By Thursday evening, and you can crosscheck with the IGP, I had information that the deputy governor asked some people to organise 1,000 people to the university community.
“The whole idea was for them to boo me and celebrate it in the media that the comrade-chairman was booed in his own community.
“The Central Bank of Nigeria governor who delivered the convocation lecture was also a witness.
“He was not invited to address a rally, he was invited to deliver a convocation lecture and he wasn’t going to talk to those thugs who were wearing all kinds of inscriptions.
“I conveyed the message to the IGP to prevent thugs being imported to the place by the deputy governor.
“Some few minutes later, the governor himself arrived and Mr Emefiele went to him and said to him, ‘what are these people doing here?’
“He said if those people were there, he wasn’t going to deliver the convocation lecture because he didn’t come to do politics, he just came to perform a normal intellectual activity.
“The governor promised to get the people out of the university.
“We had to meander into the auditorium where the lecture was to be delivered and of course, you could hear all sorts of slogans and counter slogans.
“This was exactly what they had planned and the whole idea was they would have their cameras waiting.
“As I step out, people will be booing me and the media will report that Oshiomhole booed when he attended the convocation ceremony.
“That was the whole idea.”

Former lawmaker, Shehu Sani, and rights activist, Segun Awosanya popularly known as Segalink, have condemned the expulsion of a student of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, over a Facebook post, an open letter to the Inspector-General of Police and his alliance with pro-democracy and human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore.

Nigerians Remind Osinbajo Of Promise To End Apapa Gridlock

Nigerians on Twitter have reminded Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, not to forget his promise of helping to end the perennial traffic situation on the Apapa Expressway in Lagos.
Leading the call, one user named Naija Class Captain, said that it has been two years since Osinbajo promised an end to the traffic situation without any tangible result.
On November 14, 2017, Osinbajo in a post on Twitter had said he presided over a government/private sector meeting on how to bring an end to the monstrous traffic situation on Apapa Expressway.
His words, which initially gave hope to road users on that axis, have since left them bemoaning their daily sufferings on the popular expressway.
Sharing his thoughts on Twitter, Naija Class Captain said, “Dear @ProfOsinbajo, it’s been two years since you flew over Apapa traffic gridlock and promised to do something about it. How come it’s not yet resolved?”
Another user, Olukemi, described Osinbajo as nothing more than a public speaker, while another person on the popular platform called him “a condolence register signer”.
A lady named Lilian Adie went on to express frustration with the constant visit by political office holders to Apapa without action.
She said, “The more they point and make promises they obviously won’t keep, the more the problems get worse.”

Don Jazzy Urges Government To Invest More On Education Of Children

Music producer, Micheal Ajereh better known as Don Jazzy, has called on government at all levels in Nigeria to invest more on the education of children.
The artiste’s call followed the emergence of a photo on the Internet showing primary school pupils in Adamawa State sitting on bare floor in a classroom while teaching went on.
Don Jazzy, who expressed his displeasure in a post on his Twitter handle, said, “This is sad. We have a very young population and our government at all levels should be investing more in these young ones to help shape their future and the country’s future as well.
“Children shouldn’t be made to learn under such unconducive environment.”
Standing with Don Jazzy, many Nigerians on Twitter also encouraged the government to place more priority on education, stating that the rot in the system was a nationwide problem and not limited to Adamawa alone.

Activist Tackles FUNAAB VC Over Expulsion Of Student Following Facebook Post

Rights activist, Deji Adeyanju, have reacted to the recent expulsion of a 200-level student-activist of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Ifemosu Adewale.
Adewale in an open letter on Facebook to the Vice Chancellor of FUNAAB, had raised some pertinent questions over the incessant robbery of students’ hostels, indiscriminate arrest of undergraduates, and also the lack of adequate transportation system on the school’s main campus.
Angered by the said letter, FUNAAB’s management expelled Adewale, claiming that he had breached the school’s moral code.
Condemning the expulsion of the student, Adeyanju said, “Dear Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, why did you expel Michael Ifemosu for writing an open letter urging you to look into the incessant robbery of FUNAAB students and the worsening welfare of students in the last two years?”
Speaking with SaharaReporters, Adewale said he sees his expulsion by FUNAAB’s management and the Vice Chancellor as a witch-hunt due to his relationship with Omoyele Sowore, the #RevolutionNow Movement, his previous letter to the Inspector-General of Police, and his consistent activism to bring about the development of the university community that is prone to incessant armed-robbery attacks.
He said, “The allegations against me is based on my alliance with Sowore and the #RevolutionNow Movement I was told by high-ranking officials within the university management.
“There was an open letter I wrote to the Inspector-General of Police on the incessant armed-robbery within the university community.
“So, I was secretly told that my expulsion is also linked to that letter, due to the fact that my letter almost got Ogun State Commissioner of Police removed.
“I was told that there was a publication made by SaharaReporters concerning the incessant robbery in FUNAAB, hence the school management felt I was definitely the one who gave the report to SaharaReporters due to my alliance with Sowore.”
