The Federal Government has expressed its dissatisfaction over the maltreatment of an officer of the Nigeria High Commission and Consulate in Indonesia, identified only as Ibrahim, by the Indonesian police.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the arrest and manhandling of the diplomatic official was against international law and the Vienna Conventions governing Diplomatic and Consular Relations between states.

The Nigerian government said it had written to the government of Indonesia over the ill-treatment meted out to its Diplomatic Agent in the country.
It said the federal government had summoned the Ambassador of Indonesia to Nigeria who had also tendered an unreserved apology on behalf of the government of Indonesia over the bad treatment of the Nigerian national.
In a statement on Monday, the government said, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in receipt of a report and has seen a video in circulation regarding an unacceptable incident in Jakarta, Indonesia, concerning the manhandling and arrest of a Nigerian Diplomatic Agent in front of his official quarters on August 7, 2021.
“This unfortunate incident is against international law and the Vienna Conventions governing Diplomatic and Consular Relations between states. The Nigerian Government has complained strongly to the Government of Indonesia, and the Ambassador of Indonesia to Nigeria was summoned by the Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs.
“The Ambassador explained what he understood happened and apologised unreservedly on behalf of the Government of Indonesia, The Nigerian Government has sent an official protest to the Government of Indonesia.
“The Ambassador of Nigeria to Indonesia has confirmed that the immigration officials involved had since come to the Nigerian Embassy to apologise to the Ambassador and the diplomat concerned.”
SaharaReporters had reported earlier that the officer, Ibrahim, had been to a supermarket to shop on Saturday August 7, 2021, when the Indonesian policemen descended on him.
He was also heard screaming that he could not breathe but the police officers ignored his plea and continued to torture him.

Babangida: The Tyrant, Destroyer Of Nigeria, By Bayo Oluwasanmi

Ibrahim Babangida

it’s somewhat old hat at this point to point out that Ibrahim Babangida, the destroyer of our nation, is an homicidal tyrant who initiated the three greatest crimes in the history of Nigeria. Rehashing all of his crimes would require a much longer article. Here are the three major specific cases of almost unimaginable cruelty inflicted by Babangida during his time as military dictator.

Ibrahim Babangida

(1) He took the IMF loan despite the advice of leading Nigerian economists against such a loan. The consequences of the IMF loan crushed the Nigerian economy. The naira was devalued. The structural adjustment programme, popularly known as SAP, sapped Nigerian workers and wiped out the middle class. (2) He introduced 419 through scam and fraudulent programmes such as Better Life For Rural Women headed by his wife. (3) He annulled the freest and the fairest election in the history of Nigeria.

Babangida is a crude peasant and unstable person. His need for attention, recognition, and adulation can’t be denied. Only in Nigeria would a shameless and incorrigible dictator like Babangida come on national television and run his foul mouth to castigate separatist agitators. The gap-toothed Fulani tyrant said on Arise TV: “It is always good to agitate but because there is this belief that this country should be one. When they make the noise, they find that it won’t get supported because Nigerians generally don’t believe in anything that would disturb their peace of mind. They won’t do it.”

Whose belief is it that Nigeria should remain one? The majority of Nigerians want the country to break up. Only the Fulani and other minority elites who profit from the jagajaga Nigeria want Nigeria to continue as one. Which peace of mind is Babangida referring to? Peace of mind by victims of Fulani terrorists? Peace of mind by victims of killer squads of Buhari state secret police – DSS? Peace of mind by victims of Buhari sponsored kidnappers and Boko Haram? Peace of mind by victims of hunger, disease, unemployment, repression, oppression, by Buhari’s tyranny, nepotism, and clueless leadership?

Babangida must be suffering from delusion or dementia or both by insinuating that Nigerians enjoy peace at this strange and scary period full of fear, insecurity, hopelessness, helplessness, and uncertainty in the country. Whether the likes of Babangida and his Fulani morons like it or not, Nigeria will break up. Nigeria is a damaged good. In fact, it’s rotten and the stench is suffocating. And the only way out of the suicidal mission of the Fulani pilots is for Yorubas to leave Nigeria by the nearest exit.

The Babangidas, Buharis, and Abachas of the world haunt our cultural imaginations. Yorubas as civilised people can no longer live with these Fulani terrorists, savage beasts, and tyrants who possess extreme capacity for evil. This is it. This the end of Nigeria as a country. Indeed, “there was a country.”

FACT-CHECK: Did The UN Issue Alert On Organ Trafficking As Viral Photo Claims?

Claim: A photo making the rounds on the social media shows an organ trafficking alert purportedly issued by the United Nations’ Office on Drugs and Crime department (UNODC) urging readers to beware of agents/companies offering them jobs abroad.
Verdict: No, this alert didn’t originate from the UNODC; it’s only mimicry of another publication on the department’s website.
Full StoryOrgan trafficking, under the broader spectrum of human trafficking and migrant smuggling, has remained a huge problem the United Nations, other international bodies and governments of various countries seek to tackle.
The United Nations Human Rights Office of the High Commissioner Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons Especially Women and Children, provides the sole internationally accepted definition of trafficking in persons.
Article 3(a) of the protocol stipulates that “Trafficking in Persons shall mean the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring or receipt of persons, by means of the threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, of fraud, of deception, of the abuse of power or of a position of vulnerability or of the giving or receiving of payments or benefits to achieve the consent of a person having control over another person, for the purpose of exploitation.
“Exploitation shall include at a minimum the exploitation of the prostitution of others or other forms of sexual exploitation, forced labour or services, slavery or practices similar to slavery, servitude or the removal of human organs.”
It has been identified that migrants seeking greener pastures in other countries but do not have the option to migrate legally form the majority of those who fall victim to these organ harvesters. “Some victims are tricked or coerced into having their organs removed,” UNODC says.
Several programmes have been organised to curb the spread of this menace by educating the people on the need for a legal migration process. These programmes are handled by organizations such as the International Organization for Migration among others.
Trafficking in persons for the purpose of organ removal is not a new phenomenon. Over the years, the crime has received significant attention from media, NGOs, academia and also from international and regional actors.
These include the Special Rapporteur on trafficking in persons, especially in women and children, Special Representative and Co-ordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Being and Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe.
Also, in 2013, the UN Economic and Social Council and the General Assembly adopted resolutions that inter alia request UNODC to collect and analyse information on trafficking in persons for organ removal and encourage Member States to provide to UNODC evidence-based data on patterns, forms and flows of trafficking in persons, including for the purpose of the removal of organs respectively.
It has, however, remained a persistent problem, hence the focus.
The international (transplant) community has developed standards and guidelines to govern transplantation, to regulate care for donors and thereby prevent organ-related crimes, including trafficking in persons for the purpose of organ removal. Of particular relevance are the WHO Guiding Principles on Human Cell, Tissue and Organ Transplantation, as well as the Declaration of Istanbul on Organ Trafficking and Transplant Tourism.Particularly in Nigeria, the establishment of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) on 14 July 2013 shows a concerted effort to put a stop to trafficking and consequently organ trafficking.
The photo (pictured below) has been circulated on social media as an organ trafficking alert from the UNODC establishing the fact that there is a black market for human body parts.

The alert highlighted the most valuable organs and listed the cost of each one in dollars.
According to the alert, a kidney is said to cost $262,000 (N107,813,000); a heart goes for $119,000 (N48,968,500) and a liver $157,000 (N64,605,500).
This had been shared on some websites and across social media platforms.
According to a global report from 2020, while still detected in small numbers, trafficking for the purpose of organ removal was reported in North Africa, South and South-East Asia, Central America and Europe during the reporting period. It indicated that in 2017, about 25 victims were reported, and in 2018, this number had risen to more than 40.
Meanwhile, females were most of the victims trafficked for sexual exploitation, and two-thirds of the victims were trafficked for forced labour. Most of the men were trafficked for organ removal.
VerificationA link on the alert was entered and it brought out an error result. It is, however, observed that it is mimicry of an archived link from UNODC.
While the comments on the photo highlighted the prices of human organs in the black market noting that it is on the rise in the Middle East, the archived link from the UNODC states that desperate situations of recipients and donors of human organs create an avenue for exploitation by international organ trafficking syndicated.
It also stated that victims of these crimes could be vulnerable by virtue of poverty.
Dubawa also observed that the alert has previously been flagged by the AFP fact-check which stated that UNODC Pakistan had confirmed that the purported alert is fake.
AFP quoted the regional branch of the UNODC as saying that the message “does not originate from UNODC and contains out-of-date information that is not related to current UNODC activities”.
ConclusionThe photo did not originate from the United Nations as the body is yet to give a warning about a black market for human organs in the Middle East. Although there are efforts to curb the menace of organ trafficking by the organization, the Middle East was not one of the continents highlighted in past reports regarding this. Also, the UNODC is yet to give a cost for each vital human part.
The researcher produced this fact-check per the Dubawa 2021 Kwame KariKari fellowship in partnership with SaharaReporters to facilitate the ethos of “truth” in journalism and enhance media literacy in the country.

The governors of the Peoples Democratic Party could not agree on the fate of the embattled National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus, despite a six-hour-long meeting.
On Monday, the governors held a meeting at the Akwa Ibom State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, but were unable to find a way out of the lingering leadership crisis following persistent calls for Secondus’ resignation.

Addressing newsmen at the end of the meeting, Sokoto state governor and chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Aminu Tambuwal, expressed the readiness of the governors to continue the meeting until the Secondus’ issue was resolved, Vanguard reports.
He said, “We discussed extensively on matters of the moment concerning our party and we have collectively resolved to continue to work together in unity.
“This meeting will continue tomorrow (Tuesday) with other stakeholders. Very soon, Nigerians, and indeed all of you, will hear our resolution.
“But we are working towards resolving all issues, as a family. By the grace of God, we are going to achieve that.”
The governors received the position of six National Working Committee and the members of the party who had earlier appended their signatures in demand for Secondus’ resignation but they were unable to take a definite stand on the matter.
Secondus, who arrived at the venue of the meeting hours after it had started, remained defiant that he would not resign from office.
“No, I am not going to resign,” he said when asked if he would throw in the towel.
The governors in attendance include Aminu Tambuwal, Oluseyi Makinde, Nyesom Wike, Ifeanyi Okowa, and Godwin Obaseki of Sokoto, Oyo, Rivers, Delta and Edo states respectively.
Others at the meeting included; Samuel Ortom, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Okezie Ikpeazu, Adamu Fintiri, Bala Mohammed, Udoh Emmanuel, Douye Diri and Darius Ishaku, governors of Benue, Enugu, Abia, Adamawa, Bauchi, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa and Taraba states respectively.

E2%80%99s-task-force Borno Cleric Identifies Four Churches Demolished By State Government’s Task Force

The Director General, Centre for Justice on Religion and Ethnicity in Nigeria, Kallamu Musa Ali Dikwa

A Borno State cleric and Director-General, Center for Justice on Religion and Ethnicity in Nigeria, Pastor Musa Dikwa, has alleged that the Borno State Government is intolerant of Christians and churches in the state.
Speaking with SaharaReporters, the cleric listed four churches which had recently been destroyed by the state government’s task force.

The Director General, Centre for Justice on Religion and Ethnicity in Nigeria, Kallamu Musa Ali Dikwa

He listed the worship centres as; The Sanctuary Church at Tudun Wada, Total Gospel International church, Mairi-Bakin Kogi, Christ Favor Land Pompomari Bye-pass and Jubilee sanctuary church.
Dikwa alleged that such intolerance was responsible for the demolition of church buildings in several parts of the state.
He said, “The Borno State government setting up an investigation committee on the demolition of EYN Church and the killing of a Christian brother by the civilian JTF is just a cover-up.
“In 2006 February, politicians in the state used the government sponsor the Boko Haram members to burn down several churches and kill over 200 Christians. The governor then set up an investigation committee and to date, no report is out about the incident.
”One may ask, who are the members of this civilian Joint Task Force? Are they not members of the same so-called repentant Boko Haram terrorists? They are busy giving the so-called names to repentant Boko Haram members. Please who is deceiving who in this country?
”Recently one Babagana Kachalla Ali Gajiram threatened to deal with the entire Church in Borno because the EYN women’s fellowship dressed in Kanuri women’s dresses during their programme.
“Therefore I have a strong belief that the Zanna Gadama of Borno and his cohorts are behind the incident. If the Borno State Governor, Umara Zulum, want to prove himself that he is innocent about the plan against the church, the first thing he must do is order the arrest of Babagana Kachalla Ali Gajiram and his cohorts; and then continue with the investigation.”

Bandits Demand N500million Ransom For Abducted Niger Commissioner

The abductors of the Niger State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mallam Idris Sani Mohammed, have established contact with his family, demanding N500million in ransom for his release.
The abductors were said to have celebrated catching “a big fish” when they took away Mohammed from his residence, at about 11pm on Sunday, to an unknown destination.

Although there is no official update from the state government on the incident apart from the confirmation by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Ahmed Matane, on the abduction, the government has gone into an extended security meeting at the Government House.
The meeting is being presided over by the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Ketso, with all the security heads in the state in attendance.
The Government House has been in a sober mood since the news of the commissioner’s abduction was made public in Minna, the state capital, while there is an atmosphere of disquiet at the Ministry of Information as workers were seen in groups discussing the incident.
SaharaReporters had reported that the gunmen suspected to be bandits abducted the Niger State Commissioner for Information and Strategy.
It had been reported that Mohammed was abducted at his Baban Tunga residence in the Tafa Local Government Area of the state on Sunday night.
