E2%80%93-osinbajo-tells I Have To Abide By Process That Produced Tinubu, Whether It Was Good Or Bad – Osinbajo Tells Supporters
Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, has said that he has to play a “true democrat” and abide by the process of the All Progressives Congress presidential primary that produced former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu, as the winner, whether the process “was good or bad.”
Osinbajo, despite the initial hype of a Vice President, came third in the primary, managing only 235 votes out of over 2,000 delegates at the special convention in Abuja.
On Friday, the VP spoke at length at the campaign office of The Progressive Project (TPP), a coalition of support groups that earlier backed him for the presidency.
The VP was received by a large crowd at the TPP Office in Abuja, according to Daily Trust.
In his address to the crowd of supporters, the VP described the clamour for a new Nigeria as a movement.
He said, “We went to the convention, and the results showed us clearly that we lost, but it is only a battle, it is not the war. There are battles ahead, but we will win the war for a new Nigeria. I have no doubt in my mind that we will win that war for a new Nigeria.
“That is why our movement for a new Nigeria must remain strong and firm. And we will do everything to keep our movement strong and solid.”
“No matter what those results may be, we abide by them because there is only one process for democrats, whether that process is good or bad, there is only one, and we have gone through that process.
“And in that process, a winner has been adjudged, but that does not kill the dream of the great future. We will support our party; we will support the flagbearer of our party because we know that the other side is not even worth considering. So, we will support the flagbearer of our party, we will do everything we can.”
Thanking Nigerians at home and abroad, including the Osinbajo supporters’ groups, for the overwhelming support for his presidential bid, Osinbajo noted that “when we started this race, I never believed that we would have so many young men and women who would believe so passionately in the cause of a new Nigeria.”

Abia State Medical Doctors Protest Kidnap Of Colleague, Threaten To Embark On Strike
The Abia State branch of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has threatened to embark on an indefinite strike in protest against the abduction of their senior colleague, Prof Uwadinachi Iweha.
The doctors gave the Abia State government 48 hours’ ultimatum to secure the release of their colleague, failure which the strike would commence.
SaharaReporters gathered that Prof Iweha was kidnapped in his house in his country home, Umuajameze Umuopara in the Umuahia South Local Government Area of the state on June 6, 2022.
The medical doctors reportedly trooped out on Friday after a meeting at the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia with placards with various inscriptions, demanding an immediate release of their colleague.
Led by the state chairman of NMA, Dr. Chimezie Okwuonu, the doctors appealed to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to assist in ensuring that the professor was rescued alive, adding that since his kidnap, “nothing has been heard about him.”
The doctors who matched from FMC to the Government House with placards which read “Dr Iweha should be released”, “Doctors’ lives matter”, regretted that doctors who work daily to ensure that lives were saved are constantly now becoming a target of kidnappers.
Okwuonu told the governor, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Okey Ahaiwe, that “We are here to register our displeasure over the kidnapping of our senior colleague,” adding that the incident was “depressing and dehumanising.”
According to him, arising from their meeting held at the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, the doctors demanded for Iweha’s immediate release, stating that “if not, in the next 48 hours, we will embark on a strike.”
They also requested that the federal government and state government should prevent further occurrence.
While urging members to pray for the release of Iweha, the Abia NMA boss pleaded with Ikpeazu to put all machineries in motion to ensure that Iweha was released.
The governor Chief of Staff, while responding, assured the protesting doctors that the state government and security agencies would do everything possible to secure Iweha’s release.

The affected local government areas are; Igbo-Eze North and Igbo-Eze.
Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi
SaharaReporters had reported that Ugwuanyi imposed restrictions on the operations of tricycle and commercial motorcycles in the same council areas.
The enforcement of the earlier order had begun and some arrest of violators had been made, according to sources.
However, the governor in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Simon Ortuanya, said the dusk-to-dawn curfew takes effect from Friday, June 10.

Our Intel Shows Helicopter Drops Food For Terrorists Who Killed Owo Church Members In Secret Camp – Gani Adams
Gani Adams
The Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, Chief Gani Adams, has said that the terrorists who attacked the St.Francis Catholic Church members, Owo, Ondo State, camped in a secret forest and were being fed by food supplied by a helicopter.
Adams revealed that the South-West Security Stakeholders Group (SSSG) had five weeks ago raised the alarm that some terrorists had invaded the South-West, but the South-West governor ignored it.
Gani Adams
Adams made the disclosure on Friday in his reaction to the St. Francis Catholic Church massacre, Owo, according to Nigerian Tribune.
According to him, he also suspected that the heinous attack was carried out by an international organisation as “It was a highly coordinated attack.”
He said, “Well, I suspect it was an attack by an international organization. It was a highly coordinated attack.
“This is the first time we are witnessing this type of attack in Yoruba land. We have seen different attacks perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen, however, the Owo Church attack sounded unusual.
“The information at our disposal indicated that the attackers were about seven in number and they came with explosives that were allegedly planted under the Alter of the church.
“And immediately the bomb exploded, it was a horror as worshippers were scampering for their lives and at the same time, the attackers were shooting sporadically.
“So far, according to the state government, 38 people were killed while about 64 others were still at the hospital. We pray not to have more casualties.
“This attack is highly condemnable. Any right-thinking person will condemn it totally.
“However, on the Owo Church attack, the SSSG raised the alarm about five weeks ago that some terrorists have invaded the South-West, but unfortunately none of the state governors really addressed the issues. So, what led to the Owo attack was premeditated.
“The information we had earlier was that some terrorists have invaded a very close forest in Owo.
“These terrorists, according to our information, have their food being supplied to them via helicopter, and the Olowo, who is the traditional ruler of the ancient town, even the state government could not flush them out of the thick forest
“So, that tells you that they have occupied the bush to perpetrate their calculated killings,” he added.
The Yoruba Generalissimo, who coordinates SSSG, said pressure was being mounted on the “government of the South-West region to make sure that they tackle the spate of insecurity in the region.
“However, I want to urge the government, particularly, our governors in the South-West to brace up against these terrorists.
“We are ready to support them by ensuring that the region is safe and secured. We are also ready to offer advice and information, where necessary to forestall further attacks on the region.”

C3%B4te-divoire-border-was-painful-%E2%80%94-nigerian-biker-adeyanju-says-after-riding My Ordeal At Côte d’Ivoire Border Was Painful — Nigerian Biker, Adeyanju Says After Riding From London To Lagos
Nigerian man, Kunle Adeyanju, who embarked on a London-to-Lagos journey on a motorbike, has narrated his rejection at the Côte d’Ivoire border.
He noted that while on the journey, one of his painful moments was the ordeal in Cote D’Ivoire.
Kunle, though said what the Côte d’Ivoire’s immigration officer did was justifiable, he added it was painful to him because he was at the near end.
In an exclusive interview with SaharaReporters, he said, “It was painful, it was hard coupled with fact that after riding 400km from Bamakog to the border; and only for you to be denied entry and asked to go back.
“It was painful but I was denied entry, it was because of the ECOWAS blockade on Mali which forbade anyone entering into another ECOWAS country from Mali or going to Mali from another ECOWAS country.
“For me to enter Côte d’Ivoire’s, I needed a document which was issued to me by the Nigerian embassy in Mali. Côte d’Ivoire rejected it claiming that they were a sovereign nation of which Nigeria could not tell them who to allow into their country.
“It was the Côte d’Ivoire’s ambassador, not the Nigerian ambassador that was supposed to issue me a lipase and they were right and it made sense. They were justified by their rejection, I stand on that because if it were Nigeria too, we won’t accept it.
“But being the person at the receiving end, it was painful,” Kunle added.
Recall that Adeyanju, a Nigerian and Rotarian, embarked on a charity ride from London to Lagos – a distance of about 12,000 kilometres.
He arrived in Nigeria on Sunday, May 29, 2022, stressing that he embarked on the journey to raise funds for #EndPolio in the country.
The biker who set off on his journey from London, United Kingdom on April 19 was greeted at the border between Nigeria and Benin Republic by a cheering crowd who had gathered to welcome him, after which, he proceeded to Lagos metropolis.

Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere on Friday, urged President Muhammadu Buhari and the security agencies to fish out the perpetrators of the attack on worshippers of St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo and bring them to justice.
SaharaReporters had reported that terrorists attacked murdered over 40 Catholic faithfuls during a Solemnity of the Holy Ghost Sunday at St Francis Catholic Church Owa-Iuwa, Owo in Ondo state.
There has been several condemnation of the unprovoked attack on the religious community.
The leadership of Afenifere paid a condolence visit to Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, in his office at Alagbaka, Akure, the state capital on Thursday where they called the nation’s Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria to act.
Led by its national leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo in company of other members including: the deputy national leader, Oba Oladapo Olaitan; former Governor of Ogun state, Chief Gbenga Daniel; Chief Olu Falae; Chief Tunji Alapinni; Chief Sola Ebiseni; Chief Korede Duyile among several others, Afenifere commiserated with the Governor, the Olowo of Owo, the Catholic Church and the people of the state over the incident.
Commending Governor Akeredolu for doing his best to secure not only the state but the South-West region, Adebanjo, said it could have been worse without the establishment of the Amotekun corps.
He described the Owo church attack as an unfortunate situation, calling on Governor Akeredolu to ensure the assailants do not go unpunished.
Afenifere described the assailants as terrorists who must be apprehended and made to face the consequences of the heinous crime.
The group also donated N1.5million to the church and victims of the attack.
In his response, Governor Akeredolu appreciated them for their condolence visit, noting that his administration would not back down on its Anti-open Grazing Law.
“What we have suffered is not just gruesome, for me it was like annihilation because these animals in human skin did not come to kidnap, because they picked nobody.”

E2%80%98mounting-roadblocks-harassing Nigerian Students, NANS Accuse Anti-graft Agency, EFCC Of ‘Mounting Roadblocks, Harassing Members’
The Zone D (South-West) wing of the National Association of Nigerian Students (Zone D) has criticised the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly “mounting road blockades” in Lagos State.
Adegboye Emmanuel Olatunji, Coordinator of NANS (Zone D) said the move by the agency was targeted at students’ leaders so as to demoralise, subdue and undermine the students constituency.
According to him, some law abiding and legitimately engaged students were illegally harassed and arrested by EFCC operatives along Itamaga-Ota Ona Road, Ikorodu on Friday.
He accused the Lagos office of the agency of deliberately frustrating every attempt by the students’ association to engage them.
The statement read, “The plight of Nigerians in the hand of security agencies is like that of the hunter and the hunted. The supposed protector who has now taken up the role of the hunter have so much pulverised and decimated the public that they are now more afraid of security agencies than the criminals.
“This illustration is lucidly true in the case of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The hitherto highly respected EFCC has sadly metamorphosed into a money spinning, profit-oriented, deal cutting, victimisation and witch-hunting outfit where every relatively successful young person is a suspect and potential victim.
“Earlier today, some law abiding and legitimately engaged students were illegally harassed and arrested by men of EFCC along Itamaga road to Ota Ona road, Ikorodu, Lagos State and all efforts to reach the EFCC Lagos branch have proven abortive; so far as the agency is deliberately frustrating every attempt by NANS to engage them.
“This illegal arrest is one out of many unfortunate and needless occurrences happening across South-West Nigeria.
“The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students South-West visited the EFCC Ibadan Zonal Head office on Monday, 4th April, 2022 and it was said that EFCC doesn’t do stop and search on no account. Extensively, any EFCC staff found on the road involving in stop and search is a criminal offense. Seeing men of the EFCC Lagos branch involving in stop and search makes us doubt the integrity and core values of EFCC and of such a LACUNA in the organization.
“In times past, EFCC and NANS have a strongly symbiotic relationship wherein collaborative efforts are conceived and implemented towards combating crimes holistically. However, things took an unfortunate turn when the agency started victimising innocent citizens.
“It is now common to see EFCC officers engaging in stop-and-search when they’re not policemen. This is alien to the normal practices of a sane and developed society. There are strong indications that the current spate of arrests is targeted at Students leaders so as to demoralise, subdue and undermine the Students Constituency.
“We admonish the EFCC to strictly obey the laws of God and law of the land in conscientiously carrying out their duties. We also want to emphatically affirm that going forward, all forms of illegitimacy meted to the students sector shall be stiffly resisted via every legal tools available to us including petitions, protests, rallies and peaceful demonstrations.
“It is imperative that all forms of stop and search or roadblocks on the main roads and students environments especially, be ended immediately. This is of utmost importance to avoid mob action against EFCC officers. Conclusively, we urge all Nigerian students in the Southwest and all Southwestern students in Nigeria to remain law abiding in concordance with our culture and also report any form infringement on their constitutional rights to the leadership of NANS in their respective states.”

According to the video, which has now gone viral on social media, the suspects were said to have been arrested by a joint team of operatives of the Nigerian Army, Amotekun corps and other security agencies as well as the local hunters.
The voice of a man in the video claimed that when the people heard about the news, they stormed the palace to take a look at the suspects.
But the Police Public Relations Officer of Ondo State, Funmilayo Odunlami, denied the claims in the viral video and subsequent report, saying that the command was not aware of any arrest.

The Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) party and human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has asked Nigerians to vote for the party in the 2023 general elections.
Sowore said this on his Twitter page on Friday.
According to him, his presidency is different in philosophies, ideologies, character, convictions and principle from other candidates.
He tweeted, “For me this election season is distinct/unique because the candidates are uniquely different in philosophies, ideologies, character, convictions and principle! We are polar opposites! Ours is a liberation movement!

Sowore was declared the winner unopposed at the party’s national convention held at Work and Connect Event Center in Abuja, which was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and attended by members of the party across the country.
