E2%80%99s-alleged-3million-bribe-pdp Group Calls On Anti-graft Agency, EFCC To Probe Governor Okowa’s Alleged $3million Bribe To PDP Leaders To Get Vice President’s Slot

Delta Governor Ifeanyi Okowa

A civic group, the Delta Central for Integrity and Good Governance (DCIGG) has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the alleged payment of $3million bribe by the Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa to lobby for the Vice President slot of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2023 general elections.
According to the group, the alleged $3million was paid to intensify the lobbying of senior PDP officials including the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu and General Aliyu Gusau.

Delta Governor Ifeanyi Okowa

The group alleged that the Delta Governor paid $1million to the PDP National Chairman, and $2million to Gusau.
The money, the group claimed, was meant to influence key decision makers whom Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the party’s flag bearer and his team may likely consult before arriving at a concrete and acceptable person.
It was gathered that while the PDP chairman, Ayu is supposed to use part of the $1million to lobby members of the inner circle of the National Working Committee, Gusau is expected to use part of the $2million to lobby Northern elders.
The DCIGG, in a statement signed by Comrade Stanley Oshiovorie, called on the EFCC to save the people of Delta State and recover the $3million being shared among PDP leaders in the name of allocating VP slot to the Delta State Governor.
The group said, “It is the Delta people’s money and it must be recovered. Instead of using our state money for development, they are using it for the highest bidder.”
“The money was part of the cash set aside by Okowa to use for his earlier planned presidential ambition after he decided not to run for the Senate. Okowa recently boasted that only God could stop him from becoming Atiku’s running mate.”

Niger Delta Group Knocks Buhari Over Failure To Constitute NDDC Board For Seven Years

An advocacy group in the South-South region known as the Movement for Sustainable Development of the Niger Delta, (MSDND) has sent a protest letter to President Muhammadu Buhari over his government’s inability to constitute a board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC since he assumed office.
The group in the letter to Buhari and signed by its National Coordinator, Chief Ayibatekena Olodin, described the Buhari administration’s failure to constitute the NDDC board as depriving the region of substantive representation, economic growth and development.

The group said, “We have observed that in the seven years of your administration, a substantive board of the NDDC has never been constituted. Instead of constituting a board, all we have had under your administration is a dramatic monologue of confusion and administration brouhaha.
“Many Niger Delta stakeholders have written and others have protested against the continued use of the affairs of the NDDC as a comic relief for an already tensed polity. The lack of a substantive NDDC board has robbed the region of over seven years of substantive representation, economic growth and development.
“The Niger Delta people are firmly against the appointment of a new NDDC Interim administrator. Instead of acceding to the provocative plan of anti-All Progressives Congress politicians for the sack of Effiong Akwa, it is better for the President to salvage the failed rating of his administration and that of his party by appointing a substantive board to complete the announced sanitisation of the commission.
“We are writing Your Excellency, to appoint a substantive NDDC board and to direct the Interim administrator to pay suffering Niger Delta Contractors who have lost so much as many of their businesses and properties have been confiscated by banks for failure to repay the loans they took to fund their NDDC jobs. Many others have died in penury and left their siblings devastated.”

Nigerian Police React To Alleged Attacks On South-East Traders In Lagos During Registration For Voter Cards

The Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State Command, has reacted to attacks on Igbo traders at the Ojo local government area after shutting down the Alaba International market to enable them register and obtain their Permanent Voter’s Card on Thursday.
SaharaReporters had reported that hoodlums suspected to political thugs were seen in so many videos that had gone viral on social media throwing stones on Igbo traders who came out for the civic exercise at Ojo and Igbede areas.

At some places, the traders were asked to go back to their states to register, adding that the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC could only register South-Westerners.
But the Lagos State Police Command said that the attack was not about Igbos.
The Command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin in reaction posted on his Twitter handle @BenHundeyin stated “First, this wasn’t about Igbos.”
He added that though the entire Alaba International Market decided to close down today to enable the traders register for their PVCs, a phased closure would have been better.
Hundeyin said, “First, this wasn’t about Igbos. These are the true facts behind the trending videos. The entire Alaba International Market decided to close the market today to enable the traders register for their PVCs.
“A phased closure would have been better. Consequently, the Ojo Local Government venue of the registration was besieged by a mammoth crowd. The situation was made worse by the fact that only one registration terminal was working. One of the people who came for registration made trouble and was challenged by those around.
“Going by simple probability, the attacker or the attacked is very likely to be Igbo. They were simply large in number. However, giving this incident ethnic coloration would not help matters.
“The entire episode lasted a few minutes. Sadly, recordings from those few minutes are still travelling far and wide. Normalcy has since returned and the Divisional Police Officer there is fully in charge of the security situation.”
Meanwhile, Nigerians Twitter users have reacted to the attack, describing it as unfortunate.
A Twitter user who goes by Made In Ilorin $ftm with Twitter handle @ketoolarewaju1 tweeted,
“Would have been better? Na ur market dey wan sell. They can decide to do anything.”
Another Twitter user with Twitter handle@D_Emiola tweeted,
“Take a moment and think.. If the whole market closed down completely and thousands of people went to get their PVC, knowing there is only 1 registration point, what good does it do to their quest??”

E2%80%99m-going-lead-industrial-revolution-give-nigerians-24-hour-electricity-%E2%80%93-sowore-says I’m Going To Lead Industrial Revolution, Give Nigerians 24-hour Electricity – Sowore Says After Winning Presidential Primary

Human rights activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, on Thursday promised Nigerians 24-hour electricity, noting that he is not only leading political revolution but an industrial revolution.
Sowore, who affirmed that his government would give workers a “living wage,” spoke after emerging as the African Action Congress presidential flag bearer for the 2023 general elections in a primary where he was unopposed.

He said, “I took a look at other parties’ candidates that we are putting up with, at the 2023 elections and I am happy and sad.”
“I am sad because Nigeria is more severe and unable to figure out how to choose great leaders at various party levels. I’m happy that we now have an opportunity to differentiate between darkness and light; to differentiate between the corrupt and the honest or incorruptible; to differentiate between the old and young; to differentiate even between the sick and healthy; to differentiate between as you say; the ugly and fine; to differentiate between the strong or weak.
“To differentiate between those who are exposed, and those who are barbaric; to differentiate between those who are thieves and some of us who will catch them.
“So, the people of Nigeria now have a clear choice and we are warning now that you had a choice in 2019 but you looked the other way. Now is the time to make the right decisions for your future and for the future of your children; the future of our country, the future of Africa and the future of the world.
“And, I hope when I’m done as the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria after 2023, the next president will be a female and that is what will happen. I have come to accept your nomination on behalf of myself.
“What we are bringing you is good healthcare. Those students who have been home because the lecturers are on strike, we are going to reopen your schools and our children who are in the educational sector from kindergarten to university.
“We are no longer working on basic universal education because we have moved past basic education. We are offering you top level technologically driven education.
“We will also clearly manage a government that is compact and effective. We will work and go after the Nigerian constitution that is not only fake, but antiquated and illegitimate because it was created by the military. That Constitution has to change. For workers, you are going to get a living wage.”
“We are promising this country lights in the place of darkness. Because we know and I know that I can provide 24/7 Electricity in Nigeria so that we can power not only a political revolution but an industrial revolution,” he added.

ISWAP Terrorists Kill 23 Persons In Fresh Attack On Borno Community, Seven Others Missing

Militants from the Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), formerly known as Jam?’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jih?d, have killed at least 23 metal scavengers along Boboshe village in Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Metal scavengers mostly comprise young males who go about especially at dumpsites in search of metals which eventually get recycled.

Several bullet injuries were seen on the bodies of the deceased who have been buried according to Islamic rites.
They were said to have gone in search of scrap metals on Monday but were ambushed by the ISWAP fighters.
Two people escaped the attack while seven others remain missing, a military source told SaharaReporters.
Recently, about 30 scavengers were also killed by the terror group in Jarawa village, Kala Balge LGA of the state.
Kala Balge which borders Cameroon Republic is 150km away from Maiduguri, the Borno Capital.
Boko Haram and its offshoot, Islamic State West Africa Province, have become more ferocious in recent times.
The Nigerian Army has repeatedly claimed that the insurgency has been largely defeated and it frequently underplays any losses.
The terror group has caused over 100,000 deaths and displaced millions of individuals mainly in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states.

Ukraine Invasion: Two British Soldiers Sentenced To Death By Separatists For Fighting Against Russia

Russian separatists on Thursday sentenced two British fighters to death for joining the Ukrainian army in the fight against invading Russian troops in Ukraine have been sentenced to death.
The two soldiers; Brits Shaun Pinner, 48, and Aiden Aslin, 28, were sentenced to death by firing squad after they were captured in April while fighting for Ukrainian forces against Russian invaders at siege of Mariupol.

The pair were in the dock alongside a Moroccan man, Saaudun Brahim, in the supreme court of the self-declared People’s Republic of Donetsk.
The British men and Moroccan national Brahim Saadoun who reportedly had been a student studying in Kyiv, before he was also detained in April, were accused by Russia and Kremlin-backed Donetsk separatists of being “mercenaries” and charged with “terrorism”.
All three defendants were forced to plead guilty to the charges in front of TV cameras yesterday.
The defendants are the “first foreign mercenaries convicted in the Donetsk People’s Republic,” the Donetsk news agency claimed.
Judge Alexander Nikulin said the verdict “was guided not only by the prescribed norms and rules, but also by the most important, unshakable principle of justice.”
According to Daily Mail, they appeared behind a metal cage at a court in territory occupied by the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic in eastern Ukraine as the verdict was read out today.
Ex-British Army soldier Pinner stared at the ground and appeared distraught and close to tears, while former care worker Aslin remained composed. A third man, Moroccan national Saaudun Brahim, was convicted alongside them.
The pair were captured by Russian forces after becoming surrounded in the port city of Mariupol in April. They have since been paraded in various videos with visible injuries and appeared to read from scripts.
Meanwhile, MP Robert Jenrick said, “This disgusting Soviet-era style show trial is the latest reminder of the depravity of Putin’s regime.”
The Russian leader was on Thursday pictured meeting young entrepreneurs in Moscow as the barbaric sentencing unfolded.
The three men said they will appeal the decision. The court in the DPR, one of two self-proclaimed break-away states in Ukraine’s eastern Donbas, is not internationally recognised.
The devastated family of Aslin today demanded he is ‘treated with respect’ as it was revealed his mother Ang Wood only found out about the verdict while watching television.
In a statement, the family said, “We’ve heard the news from Donetsk and need some time to take everything in. We love Aiden with all our hearts. He and Shaun, as members of Ukrainian armed forces, should be treated with respect just like any other prisoners of war. They are not, and never were, mercenaries.
“The Supreme Court of the DPR passed the first sentence on mercenaries – the British Aiden Aslin and Shaun Pinner and the Moroccan Saadun Brahim were sentenced to death, RIA Novosti correspondent reports from the courtroom,” RIA said on the Telegram messaging app.
Judge Alexander Nikulin said, “The aggregated penalty for the crimes means the sentence Aiden Aslin to an exceptional measure of punishment, the death penalty.
“The aggregated penalty for the crimes means the sentence of Shaun Pinner to an exceptional measure of punishment, the death penalty.”

Nigerian Government’s Claim Of ISWAP Behind Owo Church Killings Confirms South-West Under Siege — Yoruba Group, Ilana Omo Oodua

The umbrella body of Yoruba self-determination groups, Ilana Omo Oodua, has reacted to a claim by the Nigerian government that the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists were responsible for the attack on St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State.
The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, while briefing State House correspondents on Thursday, had said ISWAP militants were responsible for the killings.

Reacting in a statement, the Yoruba Group, in a statement on Thursday by Maxwell Adeleye on behalf of the leader, Prof Banji Akintoye, said the revelation justified its earlier claim that the South-West was indeed under siege.
On Sunday, after gunmen’s attack on the cathedral, Ilana Omo Oodua said the attack was a declaration of war on Yoruba people, adding that it was time to gain independence from Nigeria.
With Thursday’s revelation, Ilana Omo Oodua says its claim has been justified.
Its statement reads, “The Declaration of the Nigerian Government that ISWAP was responsible for the Owo Massacre is a vindication of our earlier position that Yoruba land has been encircled by Fulani foreign terrorists disguising as herdsmen.
“We, therefore, reinstate our earlier position that the Government of Ondo State should declare an emergency on the activities of Fulani herdsmen in Ondo State. All Fulani herdsmen operating in Ondo State should be profiled. Those in the bush must be flushed out.
“The Fulani terrorists who were imported through the North-West and transported to the South of Nigeria through trailers are obviously in our territory to subjugate us and take over our land but they are being warned now to leave or face the wrath of our people. Yoruba land cannot be subjugated or conquered.
“These Invaders are particularly not happy that Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo-State has been intercepting them in Ondo State while coming from the North. We urge Akeredolu not to be intimidated. History shall be kind to him. The Yoruba people shall triumph.”
