E2%80%99s-babalawos-herbalist-turn-produce-next-president-bayo-oluwasanmi It’s Babalawos (Herbalist) Turn To Produce Next President By Bayo Oluwasanmi

Since independence, Nigeria has been dogged by political instability caused by tribal political alliances. Some people believe rotational presidency will create equal opportunity for all Nigerians to participate without any form of discrimination. Rotational presidency, they argued,  will promote national cohesion, stability, and effective power sharing. It will remove the struggle for power and promote peace.
Professor Ishak Akintola director and founder of Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC)disagreed with Christian Association of Nigeria’s (CAN) suggestion that the next president should be a Christian. He said: “We believe that it is not yet the turn of a Christian to be the President of Nigeria if we want to go by mathematical exactitude from the time Nigeria began civil rule in 1999.”

As the self appointed solicitor and advocate of the marginalized, the excluded, the forgotten, and the locked out groups like the Babalawos (Herbalist), the Egunguns (masquerades), the Ogbonis (Lodge), I believe it is the turn of the Babalawos to produce the next president, followed by the Egunguns, the Ogbonis, and so on and so forth. It’s on record that for the past 61 years, the Babalawos have been unfairly disenfranchised. They have been ostracized. They have been made invisible. They have been targeted for perpetual exclusion from the presidency.
In 2023 Nigeria needs and deserves transformative leadership. We need honest, competent, intelligent, educated, matured, compassionate, and visionary, president. Only a president produced by the Babalawos can revolutionize Nigeria. Their records show. With their juju power, they have rescued Nigeria and brought it back from the brink many times. On the contrary, presidents who were Christians and Muslims have been a disaster for the country. They are stinkingly corrupt. They have destroyed our democracy, civilization, and humanity. They have multiplied the woes and miseries of the Nigerian people. They have proved beyond reasonable doubt that they are the real and the only enemies of Nigeria. The daily headlines of gloom and doom caused by their corruption and political malpractice attest to this.
Past presidents have been beneficiaries of the spiritual power of the Babalawos. The incumbent president cannot deny the help he received from Babalawos during the last elections. He’s greatly indebted to them. The Babalawos have decided to take Nigeria back from the Fulani terrorists. They will not allow any Christian or Muslim to succeed the incumbent Muslim president in 2023.
Babalawos will fight for what rightly belongs to them. Nigeria is their heritage. Nigeria belongs to them. Nigeria is their property. They are born to rule. They have the numbers. In fact, in the last population census, Babalawos are 190 million. Whereas, the Christian and Muslim combined population is 40 million. They’ll win the elections easily. Enough of the madness! We’ll restore Nigeria to purity, love, peace, progress, and prosperity.
Let’s go there!

#Oduduwa12: How Igboho’s Aides Slept On Bare Floor For 34 Days

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja granted bail to the 12 associates of Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, who were detained by the Department of State Service following their arrest on July 1, 2021.
Four of the agitators were granted bail with the sum of N10million each and two sureties in like sum who must have a verifiable means of identification while the remaining eight were granted bail with the sum of N5million each with one surety each whom must be a civil servant.

SaharaReporters learnt that “the associates of the activist slept on bare floor since the night of their arrest up until they were granted freedom.”
Asides this, there have been allegations of human rights violations by the men of the DSS on the 12 aides.
SaharaReporters had earlier reported how DSS operatives dehumanised the females among the arrested aides of Igboho, refusing to allow her to change her underwear.
The operatives had refused to allow the woman, Amoda Babatunde, also known as Lady K, have access to new clothes.
The operatives rather insisted that she wash the clothes on her, dry and wear them.
Sources at the DSS detention camp added that the operatives watch as Lady K was “forced to strip herself; wash her clothes and dry them outside while she waits while being naked till they dry.”
The DSS on July 1 raided Igboho’s residence in Ibadan, Oyo State, arrested 13 of his aides and killed two others.
Those arrested at Igboho’s residence alongside her include Abdulateef Ofeyagbe, Tajudeen Erinoyen, Diakola Ademola, Abideen Shittu, Jamiu Noah, Ayobami Donald, Adelabe Usman, Oluwapelumi Kunle, Raji Kazeem, Taiwo Opeyemi, and Bamidele Sunday.

Court Orders Ahmadu Bello Varsity To Reinstate 110 Workers Illegally Sacked Between 1996, 1999

A Court of Appeal, Abuja, has ordered the authorities of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, to reinstate 110 workers, whose employments were unlawfully terminated between 1996 and 1999.
SaharaReporters gathered that the sacked employees had served the university for several years in various capacities before their employments were unceremoniously terminated by the University’s management.

The Federal Government of Nigeria in 1995 appointed Major General Mamman Kontagora (Rtd) as the sole administrator of the university contravening the stipulated Laws and Regulations.
In further defiance of the established laws, General Kotangora, during his reign as the sole administrator, sacked employees.
However, the Federal Government, under the current political dispensation had up various administrative panels which recommended a review of the sack of staff by the former military regime.
While other universities complied with the directive, Ahmadu Bello University refused to adhere to the directive.
The University also allegedly ignored the recommendations of several administrative panels set up by the Federal Ministry of Education for the review of the cases of the sacked staff.
 Hence, affected staff members filed a suit at the National Industrial Court, Abuja Judicial Division seeking certain reliefs, including;
“(a) a declaration that the determination of the plaintiffs’ appointment by the defendants from 1996-1999 without any just cause whatsoever is illegal, null and void.
“A declaration that the plaintiffs are entitled to reinstatement as bonafide staff of the 1st defendant and payment of their outstanding salaries and allowances. (c) An order setting aside the defendant’s letter which purportedly determined the plaintiffs’ appointment from the public service forthwith.
“An Order directing the defendants to reinstate the plaintiffs forthwith and pay them all their outstanding salaries and allowances since their appointments were illegally determined.”
Consequently, in 2012, the law firm of Falana & Falana’s Chambers wrote the Federal Government through the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation to pressurise the Ahmadu Bello University to address the grievances of the aggrieved staff.
A suit was thereafter filed at the National Industrial Court.
The preliminary objection of the Ahmadu Bello University and the Attorney-General of the Federation that the case was statute-barred was dismissed.
The trial court stated that the injury was continuous, based on the letter of the Attorney-General that the Complaint of the sacked staff was receiving attention in 2012.
Consequent upon this, the National Industrial Court delivered its judgment in favour of the sacked staff.
In its judgment, the Court held that “it is hereby declared that the purported determination of the claimants’ appointment by the 1st defendant through the various letters is null and void and of no effect whatsoever.
“The claimants are hereby reinstated as bonafide staff of the 1st defendant and all outstanding salaries and emolument shall be paid to them within 30 days from today or else it attracts an interest of 10% per annum.
“The 1st defendant is hereby directed to immediately implement all the various visitation panel reports as it affects Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria, towards ensuring good governance, Industrial Harmony and workplace tranquility…”
Dissatisfied with the decision of the trial court, the Ahmadu Bello University appealed to the Court of Appeal via its Notice of Appeal dated 2nd November 2017 but filed on the 8th day of November 2018.
The University’s counsel, Kayode Amodu urged the Court of Appeal to set aside the judgment of the National Industrial Court for failure to consider the fact that staff were sacked under the Public Officers (Special Provision) Decree No.17 of 1984.
Nevertheless, the employees’ counsel. Femi Falana SAN who led Deji Morakinyo prayed the Court to dismiss the appeal as it was totally devoid of merit.
In dismissing the appeal the Justices of the Court of Appeal (Theresa Ngolika Orji-Abadua JCA; Amina Audi Wambai JCA and Ibrahim Ali Andenyangtso, JCA) unanimously agreed with the submission of Falana that the Public Officers (Special Provision) Decree No.17 of 1984 was not applicable in view of the Reports of the Visitation Panels of 1999, 2004 and 2010 which recommended the reinstatement of the respondents.
It was further held fact that the suit did not wholly challenge the termination of the employment of the respondents but basically, the non-implementation of the 1999, 2004 and 2010 Federal Government White Papers which the University is by law duty bound to implement.
The court held that the Visitor to the appellant having accepted the recommendations of the Visitation Panels and directed the appellant to comply with same, the appellant was therefore under compulsion to obey the directives of the Visitor.
The Appeal Court, therefore, held that the refusal, neglect and failure of the appellant to implement the various White Papers and Resolution Committee Reports amounts to unfair labour practice as guaranteed by Section 254C (1) (f) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) and contrary to international best practices and standard.
The appeal of the University was therefore dismissed in its entirety as unmeritorious and the decision of the lower court was affirmed by the Court of Appeal.

Documents Expose How Ex-Vice President, Atiku Used Wife To Launder $40million To US For Eight Years

A report on how former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, was the subject of a probe 11 years ago by the United States Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs chaired by Senator Carl Levin has been obtained by SaharaReporters.
The report detailed how Atiku as Vice President of Nigeria used offshore companies to siphon millions of dollars between 2000 and 2008 to his fourth wife in the United States, Jennifer Iwenjiora Douglas Abubakar.

Jennifer, originally an indigene of Onitsha, Anambra State, and a Nigerian Television Authority News correspondent in the 1980s later moved to and became a citizen of the United States.
According to the report submitted to the US Senate by the committee on February 10, 2010, the illegally transferred money made Atiku an “employer of labor” and a proud owner of American University of Nigeria (AUN), a school, whose tuition fees more than 99% of Nigerian students cannot afford.
SaharaReporters gathered that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain established AUN at a time when public universities were collapsing under him and Obasanjo and poor Nigerian students were languishing at home due to strike action by lectures over poor funding.
Former President George Bush had in 2004 barred Atiku and other corrupt politically exposed persons from being issued visas to the US.
Documents Expose How Ex-Vice President, Atiku Used Wife To Launder $40million To US For Eight Years by Sahara Reporters on Scribd

The US Senate probe indicting the former Nigerian Vice President was motivated by US government concern about corruption in the Third World and its corrosive effects on the development of honest government, democratic principles, and the rule of law.
The report partly reads, “From 2000 to 2008, Jennifer Douglas, a U.S. citizen and the fourth wife of Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President and former candidate for President of Nigeria, helped her husband bring over $40 million in suspect funds into the United States through wire transfers sent by offshore corporations to U.S. bank accounts.
“In a 2008 civil complaint, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission alleged that Ms. Douglas received over $2 million in bribe payments in 2001 and 2002, from Siemens AG, a major German corporation.
“While Ms. Douglas denies wrongdoing, Siemens has already pleaded guilty to U.S. criminal charges and settled civil charges related to bribery and told the Subcommittee that it sent the payments to one of her U.S. accounts.
“In 2007, Mr. Atiku was the subject of corruption allegations in Nigeria related to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund. Of the $40 million in suspect funds, $25 million was wire transferred by offshore corporations into more than 30 U.S. bank accounts opened by Ms. Douglas, primarily by Guernsey Trust Company Nigeria Ltd., LetsGo Ltd. Inc., and Sima Holding Ltd.
“The U.S. banks maintaining those accounts were, at times, unaware of her PEP status, and they allowed multiple, large offshore wire transfers into her accounts. As each bank began to question the offshore wire transfers, Ms. Douglas indicated that all of the funds came from her husband and professed little familiarity with the offshore corporations actually sending her money.
“When one bank closed her account due to the offshore wire transfers, her lawyer helped convince other banks to provide a new account. In addition, two of the offshore corporations wire transferred about $14 million over five years to American University in Washington, D.C., to pay for consulting services related to the development of a Nigerian university founded by Mr. Atiku Abubakar.
“American University accepted the wire transfers without asking about the identity of the offshore corporations or the source of their funds, because under current law, the University had no legal obligation to inquire.
“Combating corruption is a key U.S. value and goal, due to its corrosive effects on the rule of law, economic development, and democratic principles. In 2001, the Patriot Act made the acceptance of foreign corruption proceeds a U.S. money laundering offense for the first time, and required banks to apply enhanced scrutiny to private banking accounts opened for senior foreign political figures, their relatives, and close associates.
“In 2003, the United States supported the United Nations Convention Against Corruption, now ratified by over 140 countries. Also in 2003, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) formed an investigative group dedicated to combating foreign corruption by PEPs.
“In 2004, President Bush issued Presidential Proclamation 7750 denying U.S. visas to foreign officials involved with corruption, and Congress later enacted supporting legislation. A 2009 study sponsored by the World Bank analyzed PEP controls worldwide and recommended stronger measures to reduce corruption.
“The Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations (Subcommittee) initiated this investigation to learn how U.S. laws apply to PEPs utilizing the domestic financial system, and examine how foreign senior political figures, their relatives, and close associates may be circumventing or undermining anti-money laundering (AML) and PEP controls to bring funds that may be the product of foreign corruption into the United States. It is the latest in a series of Subcommittee hearings examining foreign corruption and its U.S. aiders and abettors.
“During the course of its investigation, the Subcommittee staff conducted over 100 interviews, including interviews of lawyers, real estate agents, escrow agents, lobbyists, bankers, university professionals, and government officials.
“The Subcommittee issued over 50 subpoenas and reviewed millions of pages of documents, including bank records, correspondence, contracts, emails, property records, flight records, news articles, and court pleadings. In addition, the Subcommittee consulted with foreign officials, international organizations, financial regulators, and experts in anti-money laundering and anti-corruption efforts.”
It would be recalled that a former US congressman, William Jefferson was in 2010 sentenced to 13 years in jail for corruption that involved US companies and Nigerian officials.
The ruling by Federal Judge, TS Ellis III of the US District Court in Alexandria, Virginia, followed Jefferson’s conviction for collecting bribes on behalf of Nigerian officials, specifically, Atiku.
However, the FBI found $90,000 cash, which Jefferson said was meant for the PDP chieftain, hidden in a freezer.
But Atiku and his wife, Jennifer did not accept summons and subpoenas to appear before the US court.
Instead, they moved their family out to Dubai, and put their potomac mansion up for sale.

Angry Mob Burns Two Suspected Robbers To Death In Kano

Two suspected armed robbers have been killed by some hoodlums at Rimi village in the Sumaila Local Government Area of Kano State.
The men, who had been terrorising some villages around the local government, were killed on Tuesday.

It was learnt that one out of the three armed men escaped from a mob while the two other who were apprehended before they were eventually killed.
Before they were killed, the angry mobs hung tyres on their necks and set them on fire until they were burnt to ashes.
Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, Spokesperson of Kano Police command told newsmen that the command received a distress call that a mob set ablaze two armed robbers.
He also added that the third robber escaped from the mob.
Kiyawa said, from the information at hand, the robbers were said to have been terrorizing Rimi and Magami villages and met their waterloo when they came to launch an operation on Rimi village.
He said when police arrived at the scene, they found that the robbers were burnt to ashes, thereby evacuating their remains to hospital.
According to him “we have recovered knives and other weapons believed to belong to the deceased suspects.
“As of now, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Samaila Shuaibu Dikko, has ordered a thorough investigation into the matter.”
On the mob action, DSP Kiyawa called on the people of the state to desist from taking law into their hands in order to avoid killing innocent persons.
He cautioned the general public that whenever suspects are arrested, they should be handed over to police for investigation that would lead to uncovering the truth of the matter.
“Taking law into the hands of the people is something that we will not condone. If suspects are apprehended, they should be handed over to the Police so that investigation will lead to uncovering them and the weapon they use to commit their nefarious acts.
”This is something that needs thorough investigation in order to avoid implicating innocent persons. I therefore call on the general public to avoid taking law into their hands,” Kiyawa warned.

E2%80%93-governor-sanwo-olu What I Discussed With Tinubu In London – Governor Sanwo-Olu

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state on Wednesday revealed what he discussed with the National leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, in London, United Kingdom.
Photographs of Tinubu hosting Sanwo-Olu in London had surfaced on Tuesday where the duo were seen in deep conversations.

Speaking after the unveiling of brand new locally assembled compactor trucks and 100 double Dino Bins for the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) on Wednesday, the governor said the APC national leader was hale and hearty.
He added that both discussed issues surrounding rumours about Tinubu’s health, the party and the country as a whole.
The governor maintained that Tinubu was healthy as there was nothing to worry about “because pictures don’t lie.”
“You saw the pictures. He is our leader. I went to see him in London. Our discussion is just around rumours about his health. He is healthy. We conversed and we talked about what is happening in our party and the nation. There is nothing to worry about because pictures don’t lie,” he said.
SaharaReporters last Saturday reported that Tinubu, who has had several medical trips this year alone, had a surgery about two weeks ago and could be billed for another one over a yet-to-be-disclosed illness.
The APC National Leader has been off official and party functions in the country for a long time, amidst talks that he is being positioned for the 2023 presidency to succeed the incumbent repressive regime of Muhammadu Buhari.
In January 2021, Tinubu was also reported sick and hospitalised in Paris, France. Tinubu had earlier complained of exhaustion and had travelled out to rest before the news of his collapse gone viral.
He was flown to Paris for medical attention in the first week of January.
SaharaReporters had on June 15 reported that Tinubu was also in Paris, battling some old age illnesses.

E2%80%99t-taken-streets-enough-times-protest-impunity-%E2%80%93-soyinka Nigerians Haven’t Taken To Streets Enough Times To Protest Impunity – Soyinka

Nobel laureate and foremost human rights’ activist, Professor Wole Soyinka, has said Nigerians including himself, should be held responsible for the level of impunity in the country.
He said as a people, Nigerians permitted impunity in the country and did not take to the streets as much as needed.

According to him, everybody in Nigeria is paying for the consequences of impunity because it was permitted.
Soyinka spoke during a brief speech at the 24th edition of the Wole Soyinka Lecture Series organised by the National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates Confraternity) and held via zoom.
It was themed, “National Conference Against Impunity.”
He said, “I am absolutely certain that we would agree that one of the major reasons for the dilemma we are undergoing in this country right now is that we permitted, we nurtured, we even encouraged either by actions or inactions, the mindset of impunity both in leadership and among the people.
“We ourselves are equally guilty. We ourselves allowed it. We watched it happen. We didn’t take to the streets to protest it, to denounce it, to warn of the consequences. Oh yes, there were warnings here and there but they were not concerted and structured.”
He however said it is not too late to reverse the trend noting that it has to begin with ” a frank, honest and objective dialogue”
The keynote speaker, Prof Patrick Lumumba in his paper lambasted Nigerian and African leaders for their underachievement.
He pointedly expressed disappointment that Nigeria which had promising future was now at the lower rungs of development courtesy of bad leadership.
According to him rather than be enraged by impunity, Nigerians and Africans have rewarded corrupt leaders with re-election.
“It is pertinent to ask why Nigeria which had such great promise continues to wallow in the lower rungs of human development. Why are Africans and Nigerians silent in the face of impunity? Why in the words of Wole Soyinka has the man in us died,” Lumumba said.
According to him the people should hold themselves responsible for refusing to act and being part of the misfortune that has befallen the country.
“Despite the impunity by our public office holders, by some miracle, we are not enraged! It would also seem that we have lost the gift of disgust. Why is this so, who cursed us?
“We are the co-authors of our own misfortune because we have lost our values and now resort to religion. We now choose to apply faith instead of logic, elevating the principle of ‘Donothingnism’. We have created leaders who have arrogated to themselves the monopoly of wisdom and the country is now run in a narrow and primordial fashion,” he added.

Nigerians React As Buhari’s Daughter-in-law Wears Western-Style Dress In Opulent Bridal Shower

A photo of Yusuf Buhari’s fiancée, Princess Zahra Ado-Bayero, the daughter of the Emir of Bichi, Alhaji Nasir Ado-Bayero, in an expensive and transparent bridal wear, has surfaced online.
Zahra’s dress, it is understood, was for her bridal shower in preparation for the wedding scheduled to hold on August 20.

Her dressing had elicited mixed reactions from Nigerians in view of her religious background.
Also, Zahra’s father is a ruler in Bichi, a town in Kano State where the Islamic corps, Hisbah, had banned dressing considered unreligious.
Some Nigerians highlighted Zahra’s gown, part of which is made from a transparent material; they also pointed out that she did not have her hair covered as is usually done by Muslim women.
Officials of Hisbah in Kano State have over the years forcefully enforced its policies, particularly on dressing, on residents of the state irrespective of their religious affiliation.
The agency has banned stylish haircuts, sagging of trousers and playing of music at social events by disk jockeys.
Hisbah also banned commercial motorcycles and tricycle riders from carrying two women at a time.
Of recent, the Kano State Hisbah Board banned the use of mannequins to display clothes by tailors, supermarkets and boutique owners in the state.
Hisbah Commander-in-Chief, Ustaz Harun Muhammad Sani Ibn Sina, said the use of mannequins by tailors, boutique owners and others contravenes the provision of Islamic injunctions.
He added that the agency would educate them on how Islam frowns on the use of mannequins and send its officials to apprehend and prosecute offenders.
A statement had read, “Hisbah prohibits the use of mannequins at shops, commercial and private residences and other public places. This violates Islamic provisions, it is also responsible for immoral thoughts among some members of the public, all these are against Islam.
“We have divided Kano into five areas for the monitoring and implementation of the ban across the state.”
Yusuf, son of President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari is set to get married to his bride to embark on a lifelong love journey which is said to have started with their meeting while pursuing their academics in the United Kingdom.
The Emir of Bichi, father of the bride-to-be has given his approval for the organisation and inauguration of a 145-man committee to ensure that the wedding ceremony does not meet any obstacle or complication along the way.
