E2%80%94-pdp Attack On Ortom: Part Of APC Plot To Derail Democracy — PDP
Governor Samuel Ortom
The Peoples Democratic Party has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress of disrupting Nigeria’s democracy, adding that the latter has been rejected by Nigerians.
In a statement on Sunday, Kola Ologbondiyan, National Publicity Secretary of the PDP said the silence of President Muhammadu Buhari over the attempt on the life of Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State calls for serious concern.
Governor Samuel Ortom
The PDP alleged that there is a plot by the APC to cause widespread violence in the country.
The statement read, “The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alerts the nation of a grand plot by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to use acts of banditry and electoral violence to disrupt our democratic order and disintegrate the nation, having realised that they have been rejected and can no longer win elections in our country.
“The party asserts that the silence of the APC and the Buhari Presidency to the attack and assassination attempt on Benue State Governor, Dr Samuel Ortom, by bandits, who were reported as killer herdsmen, calls for serious concern.
“The PDP also stressed that the silence of the APC and the Buhari Presidency to the violence unleashed by APC thugs, leading to the killing of two innocent Nigerians and a police officer, in the Ekiti State bye-election at the weekend and the postponement of the election, only goes to show that the APC is all out to derail our democracy just because they have been rejected by Nigerians.

Attack On Convoy: Why I Was Targeted By Miyetti Allah To Be Killed— Ortom

“Our party holds that such disposition in the face an assassination attempt on a democratically elected governor by bandits as well as killing of innocent Nigerians and a law enforcement officer by suspected APC thugs amounts to endorsing acts of violence and assault against our democratic order, sovereignty and corporate existence as a nation.
“It is the belief of our party that such silence on an assassination attempt on Governor Ortom is portentous given that the attack came on the heels of his outspokenness in exposing those allegedly behind the incessant attacks on communities in the state and demanding that the Federal Government should live up to its responsibility on the protection of life and property in the state.
“The PDP invites Nigerians to note how the APC and its leaders have been patronising bandits, terrorists and kidnappers and even justifying their acts of violence against innocent Nigerians while providing cover for the thugs they use in their plot to derail our democratic order.”

Group Introduces Currency For Proposed Yoruba Nation

Elated reactions of Yoruba indigenes on Twitter have trailed this development as many pledged support for the move towards attaining independence for the Yoruba nation.
Twitter user, @Ola_Williams__ wrote, “The South West is far better than other regions when Nigeria was practising what the founding fathers signed for (which was federalism). We were able to manage our resource quite well. We had a TV station ahead of France and South Africa while other regions learnt from us.”
Another user, @KolaEdun3, said, “I have switched my loyalty to the Yoruba Nation. All Hail Yoruba nation where there will be justice, fairness and equity. Hard work, quality, one voice!!! Those that oppose are afraid, you can see their sense of disbelief, shock, depression because they cannot stand on their feet.
@3magin posted, “Oduduwa is slowly becoming a reality. Oh God, I hope it comes true.”
@lanre_sowande, “God will not do what man will do for himself, we Yorubas need to rise, God will not save us if we take no action against this derogatory 1999 constitution.”

On Facebook, Ifeanyichukwu Amaonyeanaeze, despite not originating from the South-West said, “Journey of a 1, 000 miles begins with a step. Congratulations to the Yoruba nation. Gradually the ideas for the disintegration of the contraption called Nigeria are becoming a reality. It’s a matter of time.”
Isaac Awotidoye expressed joy, noting that it is a good step in the right direction.
He wrote, “Honestly speaking, this is a good step in the right direction for the proposed Oduduwa Federal Republic. I pray that this dream will come very soon; enough of this country called Nigeria, the country that is full of deceitfulness by their leaders.”
For Oluwaseun Crown Prince, there is too much partiality in Nigeria. He said, “One Nigeria does not favour anyone, it favours those who cannot speak correct English yet they live well at the expense of the most learned all in the name of politics.”
Iyiola Babalola said, “What a good idea! Please this is what we need now. North has mortgaged Nigeria.”
Fagbolagun Sola said it was high time for those who have ever doubted the agitations towards the sovereignty of the Yoruba Nation to stop doubting, stating that there will be no war before the actualisation of the Yoruba nation.
“Like play, like play, Amotekun Oodua security comes to stay, you take it as online propaganda, now it has caused many Fulani herdsmen out of their hideout. Now many think until we go to war before this agitation comes true, capital No! This will prove to the whole world that the pen is mightier than the sword.”
Ibukun Folarin opined, “The earlier we go our separate ways, the better for us, Nobody can tell where Nigeria is heading towards but a lot of people still have the memory of where and how we started. Let us go back to where we started and start all over, it is better late than never, at least the coming generations will reap the benefits.”

Group Lambasts Alake of Egbaland For Bowing To Buhari
A group agitating for the independence of the Oduduwa Republic on Twitter, Yoruba Nation, has lambasted the Alake of Egbaland, Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, for bowing to President Muhammadu Buhari.
The group posted a picture of Gbadebo shaking hands with Buhari in October 2018 while bowing slightly.
The tweet read, “See first-class king Alake of Egba, bowing down for a Fulani man. A big disgrace to Yoruba people.”
Some people from the South-West region have started reacting to this.
For instance, @crystalabeeke said, “Even Fmr Gov. (Ibikunle) Amosu didn’t bow to Buhari. When the Fulani herdsmen destroyed farmlands and killed farmers, sent some exile Alake of Egba didn’t make a comment about it. If separation will bring peace then let it be.”

Another Twitter user, @BiyiokeOke posted, “Can you imagine all because of money, that was why OGD (Otinba Gbenga Daniel) wanted to remove him then.”
@Imolefa wrote, “Sigh you’re wrong if you hold Yoruba Obas in higher esteem nowadays. They’re invalid, impotent, unworthy or unexceptional and irrelevant. Until they stop taking a bribe or lobbying for recognition over there, they’ll continue degrading, humiliating that royal seat they represent.”
@muyiwa66 wrote, “Useless kings, they’ll always work against their people when they see money. Ogun will kill those hindering our progress, we can’t be under a nation that has no plan for the next generation.”
SaharaReporters earlier reported that the group posted an image of a currency note proposed for the Yoruba nation after independence.

The development comes amidst calls for Yoruba sovereignty. Last week, popular historian, Prof Banji Akintoye, alongside freedom fighter, Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho) declared the sovereignty of the Yoruba nation.
Akintoye and Igboho, among other Yoruba leaders stated that the Yoruba nation can be independent and yet, thrive.
Professor Akintoye said the most important thing for the Yoruba nation is to learn to work towards its sovereignty.
He urged all Yoruba patriots to work together for the independence of the Yoruba nation, urging the young ones not to involve violence but peaceful deliberations.
“We have declared that sovereignty now but we must work together. We have just talked about what the Yoruba nation is suffering in Nigeria. There should be no reason why we cannot all work together to extricate ourselves from this rubble that Nigeria has become.
“My advice to young people is to gather together, speak to leaders hesitating about Nigeria. There is no reason for any Yoruba person to be talking about restructuring or a new constitution or resource control, the game is up, we have seen enough of Nigeria, we have decided our status in the world today, we have moved forward, let us move smoothly without any violence, don’t fight anyone. There should be no war, we are going to have a separate Yoruba conference very soon.”
Igboho also said the South-West states were no longer under Nigeria.
He urged Yoruba people living in other parts of the country to return to the South-West.

Vacate Akwa Ibom Immediately, Militants Warn Oil Companies
Akwa Ibom state map
Unyekisong, the umbrella body of Akwa Ibom Militants on Sunday asked all the oil companies operating in the state to vacate the state for failing in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The group in a statement by its leaders, General Dede Udofia and Major Ibanga Ekang, expressed shock and displeasure over the passive response of the state government to the constant cries and yearnings of the masses in the oil communities.
Akwa Ibom state map
The group however exempted ExxonMobil and Savannah Petroleum, from the quit notice.
The group advised the affected oil companies to immediately evacuate all their workers from their operational bases and rigs, both onshore and offshore within the territorial waters of the state to avoid casualties and damages.
“As a result of the refusal of the oil firms operating in the territorial waters of Akwa Ibom State, apart from ExxonMobil & Savannah Petroleum, to locate their operational bases in the state.
“Their refusal to implement their Corporate Social Responsibility as well as the provisions of the Nigerian Local Content Law in their employment and contract policies, we hereby advise them and their subsidiaries/partners to vacate Akwa Ibom State with immediate effect.
“It is very sad to observe that since the commencement of operations by Addax, Moni Pulo, Chevron, Century, Oriental Energy, Savannah Petroleum, Total E & P, SEEPCO, AFREN, AMNI, etc., and their subsidiaries/partners in the various oil fields in Akwa Ibom territorial waters, they have enjoyed relative peace without any hostilities to their projects compared to other oil communities in the Niger Delta region.
“But our people have not derived any substantial benefits from these oil companies, rather we have been subjected to unwholesome deprivations and marginalisation.
“It is also indeed very painful and regrettable to witness the high level of suffering, hopelessness, degradation and poverty that the people of the oil producing communities in Akwa Ibom State have been subjected to as a result of the industrial activities of the various oil firms since their commencement of operations.
“We also express our utmost displeasure at the companies’ insensitivity to underdevelopment and degrading living standards of the people in the oil producing communities, due to their many years of oil exploration and exploitation in the area with the attendant environmental hazards.
“It is no more news that the companies have been drilling several barrels of oil per day from the rigs located in our territorial waters, but do not see the need to provide basic amenities for their immediate host communities and catchment areas who suffer the adverse effects of their drilling operations.
“Over 90 percent of their employees are from outside the communities/state, and the companies intentionally refuse to do business with indigenous contractors/suppliers,” the statement read.

E2%80%93-osinbajo Politicians Have A Lot To Learn From The Church – Osinbajo
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, on Saturday, said politicians in the land have a lot to learn from the church in the interest of the country.
Osinbajo spoke at the inauguration and commencement of duty service of the 8th President of Christ Apostolic Church Worldwide, Pastor Samuel Oladele, held at All Saints Chapel, C.A.C. General Secretariat, Bashorun, Ibadan.
The VP, who was represented on the occasion by the Aso Rock Chaplain, Rev.Seyi Malomo, lauded the Christ Apostolic Church for the smooth process of the inauguration of the 8th President.
He said, “I want to commend the Christ Apostolic Church for the smooth process, which has brought the inauguration of the president because this is the way it should be. Certainly, there is a lot for politicians to learn from the church on conducting elections without rancour.
“My prayer for the new president is that his tenure will record greater success in Jesus’ name. I also want to thank the outgoing president for his infallible service to CAC for the years of glorious and faithful service. You have managed the affairs of CAC with integrity, maturity, and fatherly understanding.
“May Almighty God preserve you for many more years in strength and good health to enjoy your fruit of labour. The anointing of God in this church has made it such that the humblest of men, even the least educated, can bring the good news of delivering the oppressed from unseen spirits and even raising the dead. Apostle Ayo Babalola remains a testament to this fact.”
In his address on the occasion, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State urged the country’s leadership to make it a priority to end division and unhealthy rivalry in the land.
In a report by Punch, the governor said Nigeria equally needs to reconcile with the rest of the world, adding, “The Chairman of the South-West Governors picked something from the citation of the 8th President of the CAC Worldwide, and he mentioned that his (new president’s) priority is to end the crisis of division that has plagued the church for 30 years.
“I am reading the same thing from a different angle. Our country is at the crossroads right now: the issues of insecurity, banditry, ethnic clashes everywhere. And we know that the leadership of the church or political leaders did not drop from heaven as we are also from this society.
“So, if we are at a crossroads and the new president has said his priority is to end the crisis of division, I think as a nation and people, we, also, from this day, should make it a priority to end the crisis of division in Nigeria.
“The division is not just about the local branches here. The church has branches all over the world. We also need to make it a priority that Nigeria needs to reconcile with the rest of the world and I know it will happen.”
He, however, urged politicians to learn from the transition model of the Christ Apostolic Church, which, he said, is rancour-free and encourages peaceful handing over of power.
He said he would make the difference in Oyo State where, according to him, no governor has handed over to the successor since the start of the Fourth Republic in 1999.

E2%80%94miyetti-allah-hits-back-ortom-over-claim-herdsmen-attacked-his-convoy ‘You Are A Liar’—Miyetti Allah Hits Back At Ortom Over Claim Herdsmen Attacked His Convoy
Abdullahi Bello Bodejo, President of the Miyetti Allah Association, addressing a press conference in Abuja on Thursday.
The Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore has reacted to a statement by the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, alleging he was attacked by suspected herdsmen on Saturday at Tyomu community in Makurdi Local Government Area of the state.
Ortom had been at the forefront of the fight against killer herdsmen in Benue State, claiming that they had been killing his people in order to take over their ancestral lands.
Abdullahi Bello Bodejo, President of the Miyetti Allah Association, addressing a press conference in Abuja on Thursday.
Ortom immediately blamed the leadership of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore and called for their arrest.

He was quoted as saying, “You know today is Saturday and it is normal as a farmer, I usually go to my farm on Saturdays.
“So I went to my farm along Gboko Road and while trekking out of the farm; on our way back, we started hearing gunshots and we saw people a little afar who were dressed in black and from experience, we realised that these were the criminal militia.
“I did not want to take things for granted because, a few days ago, the media were awash with a statement from Miyetti Allah, which had met in Yola, the same place they met in 2016, where they declared that they will take over Nigeria and that every other person is a slave and that was when they started infiltrating the entire country. They came out with a statement singling me out as the only person who is creating a problem for the entire Fulani race.
“And behind the scenes, I also heard that in the meeting, I was targeted for elimination, this was the information I got. That they will go after me either in my home, farm or wherever they could get me. This is not the first time, I got an intelligence report that these people said that they were going to kill my security aides and capture me alive and gradually killing me.
“But like I always say, my life is in the hands of God, not in the hands of any Fulani man or anybody whatsoever. And I remain firm, I will fight for the truth, equity and fairness till when God permits that I will not be here again, then I will go.”

But reacting in an interview with DailyTrust, the National President of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Abdullahi Bello Bodejo, said Ortom was lying.
He accused the Benue governor of keeping malice against the group because they sued him over the controversial anti-grazing law he enacted in Benue.
Bodejo said: “There was nothing secret about the conference we held in Yola. We called for unity and sensitised Fulani on the need for peaceful coexistence with other people. Ortom lied, we don’t know anything about the said attack.
“Ortom hates Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore ever since we took him to court. We are still in court with him. If he claims we said something in Yola; yes, we called on him to review the law because Fulani herdsmen are losing their cattle.
“Journalists (in Yola) asked me about the Benue anti-grazing law; I explained that the law was discriminatory. The Fulani are being fined unjustly. We advised him to review the law because the Fulani are forced to sell their cows to pay the fine.”

Chairman Of Nigerian Bar Association In Onitsha Killed After Abduction
Francis Onwuachi, Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Onitsha branch, Anambra, who was kidnapped on Friday, has been killed by his abductors.
Onwuachi, who is also the President-General of Omor, a community in Ayamelum Local Government Area, was kidnapped along Ezu River/Anaku Road on Friday, while on his way to his town by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.
The Committee of Chairmen and Secretaries of the Nigerian Bar Association Branches in Anambra State has bemoaned what it described as the worsening security situation in the state.
In a statement signed by all the chairmen and secretaries of the various branches, the association said there is tension in Anambra State and urged the Nigerian government, Anambra State Government and heads of security agencies to address the security issues before it denigrates to anarchy.
The statement read: “The Committee of Chairmen and Secretaries of the Nigerian Bar Association branches in Anambra State bemoans the worsening security situation in Anambra State and calls on the Federal Government, Anambra State Government and heads of security agencies to wake up and be alive to their responsibilities of protecting lives and properties of the citizens.
“The Committee notes that the security situation in Anambra State is highly tensed up and frightening, to say the least. Recently, there have been cases of kidnap and gruesome murder/killing of innocent citizens and security personnel in the state and nothing is being done to curb these frightening security challenges in the state.
“Just last Friday, 12/3/2021, a lawyer, Bar Frank Onwuachi, who is also the President-General of Omor in Ayamelum LGA of Anambra State was kidnapped along Ezu River/Anaku road and gruesomely murdered the following day by his captors.
“Yesterday, 19/3/2021, two Prison Officers were killed at Ekwulobia, Aguata LGA and this is barely 24 hours after Naval officers and policemen were killed at Awkuzu and Neni respectively. Also, a Naval Outpost close to Bridgehead was attacked sometimes last week resulting in the killings of some Naval officers and their weapons carted away.
“The Committee urgently calls on the State Government to as a matter of urgency summon a meeting of various security agencies in the state to address these worrisome security situations and tackle it headlong. Failure by the state government to act immediately may lead to descent to anarchy. We all cannot continue to downplay the security situation or pretend that all is well. The time to act is now.
“The Committee condoles with the NBA Otuocha Branch, the families of the late Bar Frank Onwuachi and all security men killed by unknown gunmen and prays that their souls rest in peace. The Committee consequently resolves as follows: That all lawyers in Anambra State shall boycott all courts from Monday, 22/3/2021 to Wednesday, 24/3/2021;
“That all lawyers in Anambra State should converge at the Judiciary Headquarters, Awka on Monday, 22/3/2021 by noon for onward movement to the Government House, Awka to express our dissatisfaction with the current security situation in Anambra State; Chairmen of Bar Branches in Anambra State are requested to sensitize their members and various Court heads to ensure compliance with the above directives.”
