He Fondled My Breasts, Recited Incantations – 16-Year-Old Recounts Alleged Sexual Harassment By Ogun Commissioner

A statement issued in Abeokuta on Sunday by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Tokunbo Talabi, said the commissioner’s suspension would enable him to cooperate fully with the independent investigation being carried out by the police.
The statement read “whilst taking cognizance of the principle of a suspect being presumed innocent until proven guilty and the public statement issued by Hon. Abudu-Balogun denying the allegation, as a government with zero tolerance for gender-based violence and indeed any criminality, the suspension is a further demonstration of Prince Dapo Abiodun Administration’s commitment to fairness, equity, justice and the rule of law, no matter who is involved.
“The government assures the public that it will do everything to ensure that justice is served in this case.”
In the meantime, the suspended Commissioner has been directed to hand over to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment.”
Recall that  Saharareporters had reported that 16-year-old girl, Barakat Mayowa, had accused the Ogun State Commissioner of Environment of sexual harassment which allegedly occurred at Ita Otu, Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of the state.
Mayowa recounted that the sexual harassment occurred on Thursday, December 31, in the commissioner’s apartment. He allegedly fondled her breasts and muttered incantations while she screamed and struggled to free herself from his grip.
In her confession to the police at the Abigi Division, the victim narrated that the commissioner’s aides lured her to his house and his bedroom, after which the commissioner came in and bolted the door.
In the video recording, believably done by a police investigator and obtained by SaharaReporters, the victim, a Senior Secondary School 3 student, added that the commissioner allegedly caressed her body, while offering her money.
She said she resisted the money and screamed before she was eventually allowed to go.
Mayowa said, “What transpired between me and honourable (the commissioner) is that on December 29, which was a Tuesday, I was on my way to register for my National Identity Number. So, I came across the man who happened to be a commissioner at Waterside Park. I was with a friend.
“So, he called me and said he knew me from somewhere. I said no, he said, maybe I resembled someone he knew. He asked where I was living, and I told him. Then I left. He sent a young man after me to get my number. I said no, that my father’s elder brother stays in the park and that he should get my number from him.
“There was another Austin, a friend, who teaches at a government grammar school. They know the guy. So, the guy gave them my number. It was the commissioner who sent them to get my number.
“On December 31, one Mr Lasisi came to my grandparents’ place in the area and said he knew someone who needed a computer operator and asked if I knew how to operate a computer. I said, yes. Then he said I should get dressed and that we would go together to the place.
“When we got there, it was honourable’s house. A lady, Maryam Odunnuga, came to pick me and took me into a living room. Mr Austin now came out and asked me to come over to a room. The honourable now came inside, and Mr Austin went outside immediately.”

Family Of Nigerian, Nkencho Shot Dead By Irish Police Expresses Concern Over Alleged Lies About Deceased

The family of the late George Nkencho, the 27-year-old Nigerian who was shot dead by Irish local police, also known as Gardai, has expressed concerns over alleged lies that have been circulating to smear his image and change the narrative.
Following the fatal shooting of Nkencho in West Dublin, serious concerns have been raised about a seemingly ‘racist’ agenda to paint the 27-year-old as a criminal who had countless convictions.

Outrage As Irish Police Shoot 27-Year-Old Nigerian, George Nkencho Dead In Dublin

Reacting to the alleged disinformation, a resident, Brid Smith said, “What saddens me is the number of decent people that believe the lies.
“George Nkencho, shot dead by Gardaí in Blanchardstown last week, was a man with mental health issues, but no criminal record.”
She also went on to slam those who generated and circulated the alleged lies as ‘racists and fascists’.
Issuing a statement through their solicitor last night, the Nkencho family also thanked the public for the “warm outpouring of sympathy from across the country.”
However, they also stated that they were aware of attempts to sully the character of their son and would be pursuing legal action.
“The family is grieving the loss of a beloved son, brother, nephew and friend,” they said.
“The family also wishes to acknowledge the traumatic effect that George’s death has had on the wider Irish-African community.”
They added that they would be ‘vigilantly scrutinising all independent statutory processes, reviewing the shooting dead of George, to ensure that the truth and justice is served.’”
“George Nkencho was a gentle son and loving brother. He was not known to Gardai.
“He was of good character. He had suffered for many years with his mental health,” they said.
A well-placed security source said, “The family has grave concerns as to the manner in which An Garda Síochána (national police service of the Republic of Ireland) handled the incident. The family through their legal representatives now intends to actively engage with the Garda Ombudsman investigation with a view to establishing the truth.
“We are aware of and are closely monitoring social media. We have concerns about escalating racial tensions.
“On the one hand, there were threats being made against the garda who fired the shots. On the other side, lies are being circulated about the man who died claiming he was a criminal when he was not.
“Unfortunately these lies went viral and lots of right-minded people in society think the dead man was a criminal when he was not. All of these things stoke the fires of racial tension.”
Mr Nkencho was shot in the garden of his home in West Dublin at 12.35pm last Wednesday and was later pronounced dead in hospital.
According to the police, earlier, he had twice been tasered by gardaí, as well as pepper sprayed, after he attacked a Eurospar manager and threatened gardaí with a knife during a 30-minute stand-off during which he was repeatedly asked to drop the knife he was brandishing.

A real estate officer in Magodo area, Lagos State has narrated the last moments he shared with Tunde Thomas, the late husband of Moyo Thomas, who was allegedly involved in office romance with the Managing Director of the First City Monument Bank, Adam Nuru.
The anonymous person, who wrote on Twitter using @Fada_Flo, stated that Thomas was indeed depressed and alone in his last days.

No fewer than 2,311 persons have already signed a petition calling for the sacking of the FCMB Managing Director over his alleged affair with a former worker of the bank, Moyo Thomas.
The petition is also asking the Central Bank of Nigeria and the FCMB board to dismiss Nuru on ethical grounds.
A cross-section of Nigerians have also condemned the FCMB Managing Director over the alleged affair, which reportedly made Thomas depressed and eventually led to his death.
The estate company officer narrated that he had gone to inspect the house in which Thomas lived in Magodo and was surprised that he was alone at home and lying on the bed.
He said, “No one is as shocked at this #FCMB issue as I am. Tunde Thomas lived in one of the properties the company I work for manages in Magodo. I saw him two weeks prior to his death, he looked depressed then but he told me he had just woken up. I noticed that he was alone in the house.
“His children’s bedroom looked like it hadn’t been occupied in a while, I assumed that they were abroad with his wife, Moyosore. I went to inspect the property to know if it was in a good state and Mr. Tunde just laid on his bed throughout the inspection and told me to let him know when I was done.
“I later heard rumors he and his wife had issues and that he had even done introduction (an event that is organised for families of partners planning marriage to know each other) with a new woman, only for me to hear that he slumped and died two weeks later. Omo! This life ehn e no balance at all.”

E2%80%94-plateau-woman I Will Not Forgive Co-wife Who Bathed Me Hot Water — Plateau Woman

Illustration

A woman, Iklima Musa, who was brutalised with hot water by her runaway co-wife, is currently bedridden and seeking justice.
He co-wife had doused her with boiling water in Plateau State.

Illustration

The rival wife, identified as Justina Peter, has been on the run since the incident happened at Gindiri town in the Mangu Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that the women had never got along since Iklima joined the family as a second wife three years ago.
According to Daily Trust, the co-wives had a serious argument and their husband, Ate Peter Manomi, intervened.
When Iklima came out of her room a few minutes later to gather her clothes from the washing lines, she was allegedly attacked by Justina who doused her with boiling water.
The attack has left Iklima with severe burns on her upper body. Their husband, Manomi rushed Iklima to the hospital, where she is on admission.
Narrating her ordeal to Daily Trust on Saturday, January 2, 2021, Iklima said she would not forgive Justina for what she did to her.
“I bent down to gather my clothes, I didn’t know my co-wife was coming towards me with a bad intention. I wasn’t expecting anything like that because we had been appealed to after fighting some minutes before. As I was straightening up, she poured hot water on me and I started screaming. Our husband was the first to rush to the scene. Luckily he was not far from the house and heard me screaming. I don’t know what would have happened if he had not been close by,” she explained.
The frequent clashes between the two women forced Iklima to leave the house in August 2019 and she didn’t return till 2020. Iklima had hoped that Justina would have calmed down after the break.
She said, “To my surprise, the very day I returned, she followed me into my room and abused me. We quarrelled and even fought. That was a sign that there was more trouble to come.
“Whoever could do this to you, if they had the opportunity, such a person could kill you. Unless she can explain to me beyond any reasonable doubt that she didn’t mean to hurt me, I would not forgive her. I am sure this was planned and meant to ruin my life because this is not the first time she would do something evil to me.”
Despite her injuries, Iklima is convinced that her marriage is not over. But according to her, some conditions need to be met for her to return to her husband.
“I believe that my husband loves me and I love him too. If he can put us in separate places in the house, I still want to stay with him. But I don’t think I can go back to stay in the same house with Justina,” she said.
Zuwaira Haruna Marwe, Iklima’s mother, was not comfortable with the idea of her daughter returning to Manomi’s house because of the frequent quarrels.
“I was in Lagos when the incident occurred. A day after, her sister called me on to say that all was not well with Iklima and that they were in the hospital because of the injuries she sustained,” she said.
She further said that Iklima had an unpleasant experience before the latest one, when something was put in her bathwater that left her with injured skin.
“Something harmful was added to the water and only Allah knows what it was because it was unusual. And that was not too long before the recent incident. I am her mother, so I am very disturbed by what had happened. Justina has cheated my daughter and ruined her life. All I want is for justice to prevail. I want her to get justice and for the culprit to be brought to justice,” she said.
Marwe Abdulganiyu Abubakar is Iklima’s uncle. He said he was shocked when he saw his niece’s condition at the hospital.
“I am so scarred by what has happened to her. Security agents should do all they can to get the perpetrator arrested and brought to justice. If the perpetrator is not dealt with, other people would do the same thing and go free.” he said.
Her husband, Manomi, refused to comment on the incident, saying it was a family matter.
“This is a family issue. This is a personal issue. I don’t want to say anything about it,” he said.
Meanwhile, Barnabas Zumji, the Police Officer in Charge of Gindiri Police Outpost, said they had launched an investigation into the incident.

According to Punch, Adeboye, who preached on the topic, Divine Lifting, however, urged members of his church and Nigerians to obey all COVID-19 protocols outlined by the government to prevent the spread of the virus.
The 78-year-old cleric, who donned a face shield, advised members of his church not to be afraid of the virus but implored them to obey all health guidelines.
He said, “I want you to relax but don’t be careless. When I say relax, I do not say be careless. I hope you know the difference between the two. When they say wear your mask, wear your mask. Marriage Scandal: 2,311 Petitioners Demand Sacking Of FCMB Managing Director, Nuru

Sharing the story on Twitter, Cole explained that Nigerians should demand action from FCMB, and if there was none, people should close their bank accounts in protest.
He said, “The two kids from his marriage were indeed fathered by a man without scruples or conscience, the current MD of FCMB, Adam Nuru, who was his wife’s boss (MD) in FCMB.
“FCMB, an organisation without proper rules or governance looked the other way while the open and unprofessional romance was going on between the MD and a subordinate staff member of the same organiation, a married woman.
“The MD, Adam Nuru, who was supposed to be the Chief Governance Officer and Chief Image Maker of FCMB spared no thought for the husband of this lady who was bringing up his (Nuru’s) two children, thinking they were his.
“He also did not think of the organisation he was leading while engaging in this foul conduct, the scandal with which no ethical organisation would want to be associated. Tunde was so in love with and attached to his wife and children that he spent most of his resources on them.
“He took them to London and Dubai on holidays. He also spared no penny in putting them in the best schools.
“Within a few months of hearing this news, Tunde suffered a stroke at about the age of 42. He recovered from the stroke but became a shadow of his former self. He would often shed tears from the blues.
“Recently, he tried to pick up the pieces of his life and started another relationship with a lawyer lady. Tunde had invited some friends to accompany him to visit the lady’s parents on 26th December. They were planning (to get) the materials to take along for the visit but alas, it was not to be.”
Cole added that Thomas died before the event and was buried on December 31.
He said, “Tunde got home from work on the night of 15th December. He got home only to collapse by his staircase and die immediately. Autopsy report puts the cause of death as heart failure.
“In the meantime, the family and friends of Tunde Thomas (alias Tunde Gentle) hereby wish to bring this shameful conduct to the knowledge of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the board and management of FCMB and to members of the public.
“We use this medium to call on FCMB to separate and detach its brand from this evil man, Adam Nuru, immediately. If this notice is ignored and Adam Nuru is at his desk in another two weeks from 30th December, 2020, we will be left with no option but to vehemently call the attention of the public to the abysmal lack of ethics in the organisation and to advise the members of the public to withdraw their funds and banking business from FCMB.”
As of Sunday, no fewer than 2,311 persons had called for the sacking of the FCMB MD, over the alleged infidelity.
A cross-section of Nigerians have also described the alleged sexual relationship between Nuru and his subordinate as unprofessional.

Marriage Scandal: How FCMB Managing Director Allegedly Had Two Children With Female Staff Member

A cross-section of Nigerians had stated that a sexual relationship between Nuru and his subordinate was unprofessional and called for the sacking of the MD.
As of Saturday, the number of people who had signed the petition was about 1,400 petitioners.
Tunde Thomas, the husband of Moyo, a staff member of FCMB who Nuru was alleged to have had a romantic affair with, was said to have died of depression on December 16, 2020, after he realised that his wife allegedly had their two children for Nuru and not for him.
From the petition, it was claimed that the deceased husband suffered a cardiac arrest before he died.
The FCMB Board of Directors had said it was reviewing allegations of unethical conduct against its MD, Nuru.
A petition initiated by friends of the deceased, on Thursday had alleged that Tunde died of depression after discovering that his supposed two children with Moyo belong to the FCMB MD.
It also called on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to sack Nuru, while demanding a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
It said, “This is a case of gross misconduct based on ethical grounds and an unjustifiable economic oppression by the elite (Adam Nuru) against the underprivileged in the society.
“The MD has been doing everything possible to sweep this case under the carpet. We implore the Central Bank of Nigeria, as the apex regulator, and the board of FCMB to investigate this for the integrity of the bank and Nigerian banking industry.”
But in a statement sent to SaharaReporters on Friday, the FCMB Group Head, Corporate Affairs, Diran Olojo, said the bank was aware of the allegations making the rounds against its MD.
He, however, said the bank’s board of directors had already commenced a review into the matter, adding that its findings would be disclosed in due course.
On Twitter, Nigerians also condemned Nuru for the alleged sexual relationship, saying it was unprofessional.
