French economy will recover from Covid crisis by mid-2022, central bank says

The French economy will shrink about 10 percent this year due to the coronavirus pandemic and will only recover to pre-crisis levels by mid-2022, the Bank of France said Tuesday.   It said signs of a “progressive” recovery should be seen from the third quarter this year after a slump in output of 15 percent in the three months to June, reports France24. German exports collapse in April as coronavirus hits  

German exports and imports slumped in April, posting their biggest declines since 1990 as the coronavirus crisis slashed demand, adding to a gloomy outlook for Europe’s biggest economy, data showed on Tuesday.   Many economists believe the pandemic will push the German economy into its biggest decline since the end of World War Two in the second quarter.   Seasonally adjusted exports dived 24% on the month while imports slid by 16.5%.
