China on Friday donated security equipment worth 4.2 million dollars to the Sri Lankan government on their request, following the Easter Sunday terror attacks, which killed more than 250 people on April 21.
In a statement, China’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka Cheng Xueyuan said the equipment were handed over to the Sri Lankan government at a ceremony held at the Presidential Secretariat in capital Colombo.
The statement said the equipment worth an estimated 4.2 million dollars were donated after a request from the Sri Lankan government.

The South African government must act urgently to end the dangers faced by people with albinism who face discrimination based on colour, a prohibited ground of racial discrimination, a UN expert said on Friday.
“Although apartheid ended 25 years ago and an inclusive constitution was introduced, people with albinism continue to suffer abuses on a number of grounds including colour and disability,” Ikponwosa Ero said in a statement.
Ero, an expert on the rights of persons with albinism, presented a preliminary statement at the end of her 10-day visit to South Africa.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Friday his government will obey the law and remains confident the country can leave the European Union with a deal.
Johnson has vowed that Britain will leave the bloc on Oct. 31 with or without a divorce agreement, but parliament has passed a law to compel him to seek an extension if he has not got an agreement by Oct. 19, Reuters reported.
He was asked on Friday if he was looking for ways to delay or get around the new law, which he has dubbed a “surrender act”.

During their altercation earlier in the day, Big Brother had invited both housemates to the Diary Room, where he cautioned them.

A Senegalese combat helicopter from the United Nations (UN) peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic (CAR) has crashed, killing three people, the mission head said on Friday.
The crash occurred as the helicopter was landing in the western town of Bouar and also resulted in one injury, MINUSCA chief Mankeur Ndiaye wrote in a tweet.
