target=_blank>Petrol Tanker Kills One, Injures 8 In Ogun
The Ogun Command of the FRSC on Saturday said that one person died and another injured in an accident that involved two vehicles and a motorcycle at Jujo Area, along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in Ogun.
The Ogun Sector Commandant of the FRSC, Mr Clement Oladele, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ota, that the accident happened at about 12.45 p.m.
Oladele said that a Mack truck with registration number: SMK 311 XE, loaded with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) that was heading toward Lagos lost control due to a brake failure.
According to him, the truck rammed into a Highlander Jeep with registration mark: KRD 18 EZ and a motorcycle.
The sector commandant said that nine persons were involved in the accident in which one person died, another one sustained a serious injury while others had minor injuries.
Oladele said, “The corpse of the victim which happened to be the passenger on the motorcycle was still trapped under the tanker as at the time of filing this report.
“The passenger that sustained serious injury had been taken to General Hospital, Sango-Ota, Ogun for treatment.”
The commandant said that his men were having challenges with retrieving the corpse from underneath the tanker due to the possibility of a fire outbreak.
He said that the men from the fire service had been contacted to be on standby saying that translating of the PMS would start as soon as they arrived.
He said that the firemen would also be able to avert any fire outbreak.
Oladele said that was the standard practise to follow when an incident like that had occurred.
Oladele said that his men were making efforts to remove the vehicle off the road to ease free flow of traffic in the area.
The commandant advised motorists to always be patient and to cooperate with the FRSC personnel and those of the traffic and emergency agencies managing the traffic situation.
He also advised them to use the alternative corridor of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

target=_blank>Security: Osinbajo Holds Meetings With Ogun Monarch
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Saturday held consultations with the Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, and the Awujale of Ijebu Kingdom, Oba Sikiru Adetona, all in Ogun, over the security challenges in the country.
Osinbajo, who first visited the Akarigbo, was accompanied by Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun.
The vice president, who fielded questions from newsmen after the meeting, said the consultation was on the instruction of President Muhammadu Buhari.
“As you know, there are many significant security concerns all over the country, and there are concerns also in the South West.
“So, I am here on the instruction of the president to consult with the traditional ruler, the governor and others on what to do to beef up security and to generally improve the security architecture.
“Of course, you know that Kabiyesi is not just a traditional ruler but a very important part of the government.
“So, that is why we are here; to talk to him and agree on few modalities for beefing up security, for ensuring that we are fully conscious of all that is going on, just to be sure that peace and security reign here and across the country.
“I think for all of us, the most important thing to realise is that we are one Nigeria; we are one country; we need to work together to ensure that the country is peaceful, secure and happy for all of us, ” he said.
He said that Nigeria had the potential to give the citizens all they desired.
Osinbajo, however, said that some people were working against the interest of the country by attempting to cause instability.
He expressed optimism that Nigeria would overcome all its problems and set itself on the part of peace and prosperity.
The vice president, in company with the Ogun governor, also proceeded to Ijebu Ode where he had a private meeting with Adetona.
Speaking with newsmen afterwards, Osinbajo said that the Awujale was one of the most important voices in the South West.
He said his discussion with Adetona was on the important steps to take to improve the security architecture generally.
According to him, the monarch has given a lot of insight on what needs to be done and how to go about it and what has been done already.
“But very important is his commitment to ensuring that there are peace and security and that everybody lives in peace with one another and that we maintain the highest level of security.
“We are consulting with many of the traditional rulers across the country but there are concerns in the South West now.
“We are going around; I will be in Osun on Tuesday; we are going to go round to see the Alake, the Oni and other traditional rulers and primarily, they want to participate in improving the security architecture.
”The president has spoken about the role of traditional rulers in maintaining peace and security in their localities.
”As we know, they are the closest to the grassroots; the closest to their communities and one of the critical things we expect with our community policing efforts is some integration between the traditional rulers, the community police and some other efforts they are making to improve intelligence first of all because we need to understand what is going on.
”We need to know who is where and what exactly is happening all around so that they can then be transmitted to the more formal security agencies–the police, the army-depending on where we are and what the situation is,” he said.
The vice president had earlier attended the installation of 90-year-old Chief Emmanuel Osibona as the ‘Baba Ijo’ of Our Saviour’s Anglican Church, Ikenne, Ogun, his hometown.

target=_blank>Nigerian Writer, Olutimehin Accuses Person Behind BBNaija 2019 Voice Of Sexually Assaulting Her
Olutimehin Adegbeye, a Nigerian writer, speaker and activist has alleged that the man behind the Big Brother Naija 2019 voice,Andre Blaze Henshaw, sexually assaulted her.
Olutimehin made the claim on her personal Twitter account @OhTimehin while also disclosing the person behind the voice as Andre Blaze Henshaw.
Henshaw, according to his profile on Wikipedia, is a Nigerian radio personality, rapper, television host and executive producer. He first gained notice as a member of the hip hop group Tuck Tyght Allstars. His radio career began at Rhythm 93.7 FM Port Harcourt, where he worked for over six years before joining Nigezie as a TV host.
Olutimehin’s revelation is coming less than a month after Busola Dakolo, wife of popular musician Timi Dakolo, accused Biodun Fatoyinbo, founder and Senior Pastor of Commonwealth Zion Assembly church, raped her.

Olutimehin tweeted that Blaze assaulted her in the presence of other people and how he shrugged off an attempt to stop him from committing the crime.
She tweeted, “Just a friendly reminder that all of you watching Big Brother are listening to the voice of Andre Blaze Henshaw, who sexually assaulted me while I was incapacitated, in full view of other people, and even though another woman who saw him tried to make him stop.
“Tell me again how survivors “speaking up” and “naming our abusers” somehow magically stops them from having the resources, social space and power to abuse other people.
“Tell me again how accusations of sexual violence are terrible things that ‘ruin men’s lives’.
“The BBC never apologised, by the way. Nor did they seem to remember or care what they did before inviting me to speak at another one of their ‘pro-woman’ events this year. Trololololol.
“And now I’ve just remembered what happened to T-Boss *on camera*, and #welp.”
She condemned the culture of blaming the victim for how rapists get away with the crime.
“The problem isn’t that most people don’t believe survivors — even though that’s a huge problem in and of itself. The real problem is that people simply do not care.
“If this news is reaching you for the first time, please be reminded that it is news *to you*. I’ve been talking about this for years. I don’t care if you believe me or not. I’m just reminding you that some of us know the truth: y’all don’t care about sexual violence or survivors,” she tweeted.Just a friendly reminder that all of you watching Big Brother are listening to the voice of Andre Blaze Henshaw, who sexually assaulted me while I was incapacitated, in full view of other people, and despite the fact that another woman who saw him tried to make him stop.— OluTimehin Adegbeye🌈 (@OhTimehin) July 20, 2019

Olutimehin had on 5th of May 2018 first revealed that Blaze sexually assaulted her adding that Pretty Mike, a nightclub owner in Lagos raped her while she was 16.
She tweeted: “ICYMI: Andre Blaze Henshaw sexually assaulted me two years ago. The BBC (unwittingly) interviewed both of us for a recent program about (toxic/evolving) masculinity and its impacts. I informed the BBC about the assault and asked them to delete/edit that program. They refused.
“While y’all are here, that raging misogynist Pretty Mike raped me near Club Q when I was 16 years old, and I’m willing to bet every single naira I will ever earn that he doesn’t even remember. But that’s a story for another day. I’m off to watch Beychella”
Her further tweet thread on 16th of May 2018 reads, “3. Re: reading comprehension. Pretty Mike raped me when I stopped to see him on my way back home from Anifa Prep around 3 on a Wednesday afternoon. He had become my ‘friend’ two weeks prior on a day I discovered my wallet had been stolen, also on the way back from school.
“I was staying at my aunt’s temporarily. Club Q was on my route home. Mike helped me one day, stopped me to talk every day after that, and subsequently violently raped me. (For those who don’t know, not all rapes are outwardly violent. That doesn’t mean they’re not rape.)
“To build on points 1 & 3, especially for those who lost their minds at the idea of two sexual violations in ten years: those are not the only violations or rapes I have experienced. I named Andre because the BBC triggered me on Monday. I named Pretty Mike because he was the worst
“There have been others. Some forgotten as a necessary survival mechanism. Some forgiven because sometimes the abuser is only an abuser because of our society engenders ignorance about sexual boundaries and consent, and they learned and made restitution.”
Mike had dismissed the allegation saying that Olutimehin is desperately looking for attention.
“When I saw the story, which was sent to me by a friend, I laughed. Though I have ‘retired’, my friends and people who are close to me know ladies like me a lot.
“I think she is just a young lady looking for attention. I am a public figure; so, everyone knows where to find me. If you have issues with me, you can walk up to me. But to the best of my knowledge, none of such ever happened. People know I am not that kind of person,” Mike said.

target=_blank>Corruption: Make Public Officials Swear With Ogun, Not Bible Or Quoran, Lagos Monarch Urges
The Osolo of Isolo, Oba Kabiru Adelaja, has said that the rate of corruption among public officials would dwindle if traditional means of oath-taking like Ogun is employed during their swearing-in ceremonies.
Adelaja said that the traditional process would put fear in the hearts of leaders on the need to be upright in their dealings with the people they serve and be accountable for their decisions.
The traditional ruler, who made the call while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, said that many politicians and government officials lack the fear of God because they see God as merciful and forgiving.
He said that if leaders are made to take oath of office through the traditional gods, most government officials would be more conscientious in carrying out their activities.
“Leaders know they can get away with Christianity or Islam, but if they take oaths based on traditional gods like Ogun, they will never steal, knowing those gods do not accept sorry.
“They know that the gods will not spare them when they err. You steal, you die.
“We must practice our culture; all tribes have different cultures. If it is adopted while taking the oath of office, our leaders will be accountable.
“Let us go back to our culture. Anybody who wants to hold any political office, that needs to carry out projects, should be made to swear before Ogun,” he told NAN.
The monarch decried the rate of corruption among leaders within their short stay in the office, which, he said, could be linked to the state of poverty in the nation.
“Majority of kidnappers being arrested are graduates. After all said and done, they will say it is because the have no jobs,” he said.
The monarch appealed to the various tiers of government to create more employment opportunities for graduates in the country.

target=_blank>Airport Intruder Is A Niger Republic Citizen – FAAN MD
The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Capt. Hamish Yadudu, says Friday’s airport intruder is Usman Adamu, a citizen of Niger Republic.
Yadudu also said that the aircraft climber suspect was first arrested on Sunday night around 10 pm within the airport vicinity by its Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel, but was released a few hours later.
FAAN also said that it was taking full responsibility for the huge security breach at the airport, but said no stone would be left unturned to unravel those behind the breach.
Yadudu stated this today at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Kano, during an event in the state.
He stated that the suspect had been handed over to the Nigerian Police Force for further interrogation.
He added: “The authority takes full responsibility for the breach. Federal Government, through the Ministry of Transport and Honourable Minister of State, Aviation has already assisted us in the award of contracts for perimeter fences at the airports, including detection devices and CCTV cameras with infrared capacity for night operations.
“I want to assure travellers and airport users that new measures are already being put in place to enhance security at the nation’s airports.”
He added that plans were also underway to erect observation towers this year, to enable proper monitor and coverage of the airport.

Yadudu noted that already, FAAN had a security patrol/escort team in place for arriving and departing aircraft but another joint patrol team involving FAAN AVSEC, the Police and the Military has also been constituted to assist in protecting the sanctity of our airside and ensuring the security of live operations and the travelling public using our facilities.
Yadudu admitted that globally, new threats were springing up daily and the criminal elements were fashioning out ways to circumvent security architectures.
He, however, added that it was up to FAAN to continuously improve on security and put adequate measures in place to mitigate the threats.
He noted that FAAN would continue to work with relevant stakeholders and the regulatory agencies towards ensuring safe operations at our airports.

target=_blank>Before Religious Houses Ruin What Is Left Of Our Lives, The Noisy Worship Must Stop By Sodiq Zainab
It saddens my heart to see how Nigerians can’t tell the difference between worshipping God and making noise. Before I pour out my mind, I will like make it clear to everyone that this is not an attack on any religion. I’m sure those of you who are religious but do not worship God will come for me, you are all welcome.
Dear church/mosque leaders, I understand that both of you worship God in your own unique ways and I truly believe in God and I even serve him but why do you make noise? Why do religious houses disturb the peace of our environment? Must we worship in noise?
I’m not saying worshipping God is making noise because a lot of people would get this wrong.
Annoyingly, both mosques and churches disturb residential neighbourhoods with their noise by using loud and ear-unfriendly speakers that emit harsh sounds.
The extreme acceptance of religion in this part of the world has made it a sin for anyone to complain about these noises. Anyone who does is tagged a child of the devil or seen to be possessed with some demons from the pit of hell. They automatically see you as one who is trying to stop the religious houses from worshipping the God they believe in.
The loudness of the sounds that come from churches and mosques are enough to cause health hazards especially to those living close to these places of worship. This is further heightened when these religious places hold vigils. The noise is so much that I cannot go home on Friday night without thinking of the raucous chants, stamping feet, clapping hands and jarring drums. These blares add to my headache and sometimes are even the cause. Sometimes, I am unable to sleep until your vigil is over. Why? Kilode?
According to a report by the World Health Organisation (WHO), exposure to prolonged or excessive noise can cause health problems ranging from stress, poor concentration, fatigue from lack of sleep and hearing loss.
It would please our churches and mosques to know that God didn’t say worship me by disturbing others before I will answer you, nor did he say use speakers louder than earth before I can hear you. So I wonder, why make life difficult for others?
I’m not saying we should not serve or worship him but the way you do it is wrong.
Although there is a law that restricts how loud noise coming from a building, place of worship or house can be, it has obviously been forgotten. It is only dusted and opened when the government finds a need to deploy it for political warfare.
A segment of the Lagos State law against noise pollution, which regulates sounds from clubs and religious homes in the state says that all religious houses are expected to operate within enclosed and soundproof environments.
They are also expected to regulate their use of speakers and give due consideration to neighbouring residents. The law states that “all religious houses shall ensure that midweek services and vigils are carried out with due consideration to the neighbouring residents.”
This is an appeal to the Lagos State Government to please ensure that churches and mosques limit the sound coming from their speakers to the confines of their religious houses.

target=_blank>Man Electrocuted In Anambra While Trying To Prune Tree
A middle-aged man identified as Nduka Emeziagbala, died on Friday, at Enugwu-Agidi community in Anambra in circumstances suspected to be electrocution.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) gathered on Saturday that the incident occurred while the victim was up on a breadfruit tree, which he was hired to cut its branches under electricity high tension cable in the community.
The deceased was believed to have had contact with something bearing electricity current while on the three trying to shed the branches, and got electrocuted.
He was said to have fallen off the tree and died in a condition depicting electrocution.
An eyewitness said that the deceased from Iruobieri village was given the job following the warning by Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) on the dangers of the tree.
The company had said that it was necessary to cut down the tree to ensure the free flow of electricity current on the wires.
“In the process, the young man was hired to cut down branches of the tree because of the repeated warning from officers of the EEDC,” the source said.
Another source, who said that the incident had thrown the entire community in Njikoka Local Government Area into the morning, described the deceased as “a quiet young man, who cared for his mother more than his siblings’’.
In his reaction, President-General of Enugwu-Agidi Brotherly Union (EBU), Mr Chidi Okoye, described the incident as regrettable but blamed it on the carelessness of the deceased.
Okoye said the leadership of the union had earlier engaged some villagers on the need to allow EEDC to cut down the tree due to the inherent dangers it posed.
“It is unfortunate that the young man died in that manner. We expected that there would have been a proper communication with the EEDC before cutting down the tree.
“He just lost his life out of sheer carelessness. The sad incident is a lesson to everybody in the community,” he said.
Okoye, however, cautioned youths in the area not to take laws into their hands, advising that there was no need for civil unrest in the community as a result of the incident.
He disclosed that the deceased’s body had been deposited in a mortuary in the community.
Contacted, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Mr Haruna Mohammed, told NAN that the case was not reported to the police.
Mohammed, however, said that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the area notified him that the deceased did not die of electrocution.
“Investigation revealed that the deceased fell from Ukwa (breadfruit) tree and became unconscious.
“He was taken to a hospital where he later died.
“But, the matter was not officially reported to the police,” he said.

RUGA: Stay Where You Are And Defend Yourselves, Miyetti Allah Tells Fulani Herdsmen
Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, a Fulani interest group, has called on its members to defend themselves from other ethnic groups in Nigeria.
Salah Alhassan, national publicity secretary of the group, in an interview with The Punch on Saturday, said, “We are Nigerians and we have a history. Anybody that thinks he can wake up and take on the Fulani pastoralist is making a grievous mistake, we are well prepared to defend our fundamental human rights of movement in this country.
“They (herdsmen) are Nigerians, so they are entitled to stay where they are. They should remain where they are and defend themselves against ethnic militia and assert their citizenship in this country.
“The only thing we would say is that we will hold all the governors of those states responsible for their safety and security, but if any ethnic militia, by any name, attack our members, they should defend themselves in a manner that nobody would try such again.
“We have been saying it that people behind insecurity are not herders; bandits are behind these killings, and if the government is saying foreigners have infiltrated the herders, have they been arrested and what is their nationality? Anybody that is trying to destabilise this country should be dealt with.”
Addressing the call by the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) for herdsmen to vacate the south, Alhassan said, “those so-called northern youths called a coalition of northern groups should note that if because of their action any herder is killed, we will first look for them before we go after our enemies.”

He added: “We are Nigerians and we are not going anywhere. Our attachment to the land is opportunistic; we don’t farm the land. So, if anybody is thinking that because he has cultivated the land in a particular place for long and he has rights there more than us, then we would ask where is the grazing area that the colonial masters created for us?
“Politicians can play their politics but they should leave our people out of it because it is the desperate politicians that are causing this confusion and they are looking for anything to hang on to, but we are watching them critically.
“If you threaten the herders, they react; they cannot be used for any political game because we have our way of defending ourselves. We hate injustice and we fight it. Anybody that thinks we can be squeezed is making a mistake.
